December 2013
Letter from the President
Dear NALTA Members:
Friday Evening and an all-day event on Saturday.
All said, a total of 20 credits were offered to those
that attended the Seminar, Conference and
the Saturday Event. The Conference
Committees and Chairs did an
excellent job putting all of this
together and for those of you
that were able to attend, their
efforts showed.
I would like to express
my thanks to the 20122013 members of the Board,
Membership,
Conference
Committees, the many Past
Presidents, friends and everyone
else for their support and confidence
in allowing me to carry out the role
and duties of Conference Coordinator/
First Vice President this past year. I would like to
specifically thank Melva Thornton, Leverne Hearn,
Jan Warren, Olga McGee, Linda Howerton, Lois
Kidd, Susan Rondon,
Michael Smith, David
Nelson, Lupe Felan
and Jo Hale for their
leadership and guidance
as I have served over
the years with NALTA
and of course one young
man, Nick Nelson, who
has always been there
when I needed him.
I thank my company,
XTO
Energy,
for
their support for the
conference this year
and upcoming years as
they always encourage employee involvement in
professional organizations like NALTA. It not only
It is my honor to assume the position of President
of NALTA for 2014. NALTA is a diverse organization
that has brought educational, certification
and professional leadership value to
both women and men in the energy
industry across the county for
more than 28 years. I thank the
membership for bestowing
this honor upon me. I hope
to meet as many of you as
possible to hear your vision
for the future of NALTA
toward development of skills
and training to facilitate career
advancement within the industry.
Once again, with your support,
NALTA has exceeded our expectations
for our 28th Annual Conference in
Albuquerque. We had an outstanding turn out
with 604 attending. We were so fortunate to be able to
provide 50 grants to the conference in Albuquerque.
I am anxious to see how
well we did financially, so
that we can evaluate how
many grants NALTA will
be able to give for 2014.
Our Wednesday Seminar
was the first time that
we had the opportunity
to choose between two
different seminars. Both
“Domestic and Global
Implications of Petroleum
Land Management” and
“Generational Diversity
in the Workplace” as our
choice sessions. Both
sessions were enjoyed by excellent turn outs and
reviews. We also had one additional class each hour
on Thursday and Friday with events scheduled for

portrays XTOs’ commitment to excellence but also
empowers our employees with increased capabilities
to take on new challenges as they arise. I also want to
personally thank my Manager, Mr. Jeff Lummus and
Sr. Vice President, Jimmy Death.
There are simply no words to express the joy with
which I accept the honor of becoming the President of
this truly wonderful organization. It is a great honor
to be a member of this flagship organization, and have
worked in the energy industry for the past 34 years.
I am committed to fulfilling the mission “to provide
leadership and support, working to bring additional
educational opportunities to the NALTA members at
both the beginner and advanced skill levels and for
our many members who do not have a local chapter
for support.”
I believe NALTA is the best organization in the Oil
& Gas Industry and fully believe that education is the
key to success for our members which will result in
better job performance while broadening their sense
of the industry. I look forward to this coming year
and I accept that honor, and the challenge it holds,
with thanks and great pride in all of my colleagues
within NALTA.
As some of you may be aware, I was born and
raised in New Mexico. Being honored as the NALTA
2013-2014 President in New Mexico made it seem
like I have come full circle with your support.
Rest assured that I will work tirelessly, with
my eyes on our goals as the board works together,
toward the continued educational value and volunteer
opportunities within our organization. I hope to see
many of you attend our upcoming board meetings so
that you may see for yourself how the board works on
your behalf and endeavors’.
Henry Ford once said that...“Coming together
is a beginning, staying together is progress, and
working together is SUCCESS.”
Finally, as a military wife and mother, I would
like to thank all of our troops, past and present for
their sacrifices that enable each of us to enjoy our
freedom.
My door is always open please, contact me
anytime at – [email protected].
