SUSD Title I Title I provides federal financial assistance to local educational agencies to meet the needs of students to achieve the State's academic standards. This is accomplished through supplemental programs that consist of instructional services, instructional support services, schoolwide reform efforts and increased involvement of parents in their children's education. Twelve SUSD schools are Title I eligible and receive Title I funding. Title I funds support numerous activities at these schools, including Reading and Math Specialists to provide academic interventions for students; Instructional Coaches to provide ongoing professional development to teachers; academic interventions for students during the school day, outside of the school day, and during the summer; instructional items including equipment, technology, learning materials, and supplies; a free Pre-Kindergarten program and parental involvement activities. This change provides achievement labels based on a new accountability system that is designed to show how well students in a school or district are mastering the state standards in math, reading and writing. This new system provides A–F letter grades. The District received a grade of A, 13 schools scored A, 14 schools scored B, two schools scored C and one school scored D.
