process. Students whose applications are received after
January 17, 2012 will be placed on a list by date received. Late
applications will be accepted based on a school’s grade and
program capacity. For more detailed information, please visit

SUSD Title I
Title I provides federal financial assistance to local educational
agencies to meet the needs of students to achieve the State's
academic standards. This is accomplished through supplemental
programs that consist of instructional services, instructional
support services, schoolwide reform efforts and increased
involvement of parents in their children's education.
Twelve SUSD schools are Title I eligible and receive Title I funding.
Title I funds support numerous activities at these schools, including Reading and Math Specialists to provide academic interventions for students; Instructional Coaches to provide ongoing
professional development to teachers; academic interventions for
students during the school day, outside of the school day, and
during the summer; instructional items including equipment,
technology, learning materials, and supplies; a free
Pre-Kindergarten program and parental involvement activities.

Enrich Education with a Tax Credit
Contribution and Get A Dollar For
Dollar Return On Your Investment
Consider making a Tax Credit contribution to a Scottsdale Unified
School District school this year. State law (A.R.S. 43-1089.01) allows
you to claim a tax credit when you give up to $200 for single filers
and $400 for married filers to a public school to be used for
extracurricular activities that require an enrolled student to pay a
fee. Anyone who pays Arizona State income tax can give.
When you make a Tax Credit contribution, funds can be
designated to be used for enrichment programs; tutoring; trips to
fine arts events, museums, the zoo, science centers; overnight trips
for fine arts and science programs; athletic programs such as
football, volleyball, softball, track and basketball and ACT/SAT
preparation.
Tax Credit Form
Contributions must be postmarked by December 31.
Please include your phone number on your check.
The school will issue a tax credit receipt to you. Claim the tax
credit when filing your Arizona State Income Tax. Tax credits are
not refundable by Scottsdale Unified School District.

Engage, Educate and Empower Every Student, Every Day
It is important to remember that achievement
labels are just variables in a much larger equation
that defines what is happening within children’s
schools, their learning experience, and their
overall success. To learn more about this
important topic, visit the Accountability and
Assessment page at http://assessment.susd.org

With the passage of Senate Bill 1286 by the
Arizona Legislature, a new accountability system
for public schools and districts was established.
This change provides achievement labels based
on a new accountability system that is designed
to show how well students in a school or district
are mastering the state standards in math, reading
and writing. This new system provides A–F letter
grades. The District received a grade of A, 13
schools scored A, 14 schools scored B, two schools
scored C and one school scored D.

Engage, Educate and Empower Every Student, Every Day
We have many recent accomplishments to be
proud of, including that the Arizona Department
of Education (ADE) recently ranked SUSD the 8th
Top School District in the state. The ADE also
recently released its AZ LEARNS Legacy Profiles.
For the first time, Letter Grades were also given to
each school district and schools across the state.
We are proud to report that the District as a whole
has earned an A. We have 18 Excelling, seven
Highly Performing, four Performing Plus and two
