2016 brings us the 50th Anniversary of Midem and another year of GREAT British music.
Since the sixties the British music industry
has introduced some of the biggest and most
innovative artists and music to the world and it
still continues today.
The UK industry enjoyed another fantastic year in
2015 with British artists accounting for 5 of the
top ten albums sold around the world last year!
None of this success comes easily against the
ongoing transition of the overall music market,
the resulting change in consumer behaviour
and expectations, as they become ever more
sophisticated and demanding but many still
questioning the value of music. However, just
as we have faced many challenges over the last
fifty years, British musicians, writers and industry
continue to prove their worth and creativity and
would be delighted to meet and do business
with you, so please come and visit us. Come and

AIM is the trade association that provides a collective voice for the UK’s
independent music industry. AIM represents over 800 member companies
(90% of the independent market), from the largest and most respected
labels in the world, to small start-ups and individual artists releasing their
own music for the first time.
The BPI was formed in 1973 and is a representative voice of the UK
recorded music business. It promotes recorded music in the UK and

The BPI also administers the Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS), which
to date has distributed well in excess of £1 million to independent music
companies to promote their music in new territories.
The BPI administers the iconic Platinum, Gold and Silver Awards Programme
and co-owns the Official Charts with the retailers’ association ERA. The BPI
owns and organises the annual BRIT Awards, and is now also home to the
Mercury Prize. Substantial proceeds from the BRIT Awards events go to
the BRIT Trust, the charitable arm of the BPI that has donated over £15m to
charitable causes, including The BRIT School and Nordoff Robbins Music
Therapy since its foundation in 1989.

PPL
The Music Publishers Association (MPA) is the trade association for music
publishers in the UK, with over 260 members, representing around 4,000
catalogues, covering every genre of music. These include all of the UK’s
major music publishers as well as independent pop publishers, library
music publishers and printed music publishers.
PPL is the music licensing company which works on behalf of record
companies and performers to license recorded music played in public (at
pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shops, offices and many other business
types) and broadcast (on TV, radio and online) across the UK. Our members
include major record labels and independents as well as globally successful
performers and session musicians, ranging from orchestral players to
percussionists and singers. PPL also operates an international royalty
collection service helping members to get paid when their music is played
internationally.

The MPA exists to safeguard and promote the interests of music publishers
and the writers signed to them and to represent these interests to
government, the music industry, the media and the public. It also provides
publishers with a forum, a collective voice and a wide range of benefits,

Over the years the MPA has delivered trade missions to the US, Japan,

With 79 international agreements in place in 37 countries with other
collective management organisations (CMOs) PPL helps members to get
paid when their music is played internationally. After the deduction of PPL’s
running costs, all licence fee income is distributed to members. PPL does
