Putting the fun in Fundamentals for generations. A Proud History Family-owned and operated, Maplewood is the only camp and enrichment center of its kind in the area, serving children aged 3 to 14. Co-directors Lee Pinstein and Susan Reardon, continue the great and rich tradition of Maplewood, which was founded by their parents a half a century ago. A Nurturing Place Maplewood is accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA), ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for kids and peace-of-mind for parents. Core Values Children who are taught the fundamental concepts of discovery, community, teamwork and fitness can enjoy a more creative and fulfilling childhood. By teaching these fundamentals we help them mature and grow to become more successful, compassionate and confident in life. Children are given the opportunity to explore and learn these fundamentals in a relaxed and secure, fun-filled environment where they feel free to be themselves become more self-aware, self-assured adults. By providing opportunities for children to explore the world and activities that surround them, we help to reinforce the process of learning and self-discovery every day. ( Counselor in Training) The C.I.T. program gives our most mature campers those entering the 8th and 9th grades, a feel for what it takes to be a counselor while still having the opportunity to participate in all of the great activities at Maplewood. In their role as a Maplewood C.I.T. they will have the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence that will help them become effective leaders and positive role models. Under the guidance of our three highly trained C.I.T. coordinators, they will receive hands on training as they interact every morning with campers and counselors in a group setting. They will learn and grow by observing and assisting the counselors and specialists. The interaction and mentoring they receive will help strengthen their abilities and they will naturally begin to develop the skills needed to be future leaders. In the afternoon, C.I.T.’s get to choose from a variety of regular camp activities in which to participate with their peers. This program along with being fun is a great learning experience and will allow the C.I.T. the opportunity to interact with their peers, connect with current friends and make many new friends along the way. EXPERIENCE AND TRUST: Since 1965 over 25,000 children have learned to swim at Maplewood. Our owners are on-site, sharing their 50 years of combined experience teaching swimming, and giving parents peace-of-mind. THE STAFF: Certified Water Safety Instructors and Lifeguards, highly trained and experienced, and who have worked at Maplewood for 5, 10, and even 15 years, guide our campers to success in the water. THE POOLS: Our 2 Olympic-Sized Heated Pools were specifically designed for teaching, with shallow areas where beginning swimmers can stand and feel comfortable learning, and deeper water and diving areas for more advanced swimmers. THE PROGRAM: Maplewood’s unique teaching approach encourages beginning swimmers to feel comfortable and relaxed in the water to make the learning fun. More advanced swimmers learn to master different strokes, dive, and build swimming endurance. Campers swim twice a day, a 30-minute lesson each morning (beginners get 1:1 attention) and an hour of free-swim time each afternoon. Daily progress evaluations determines their rate of advancement, and accomplishment. 150 FOUNDRY ST. · RTE. 106 · S. EASTON, MA www.maplewoodyearround.com 508-238-2387 · 508-238-6758 [email protected]
