From the Boston Archdiocese …
January 10 – The Baptism of the Lord
After an Advent of waiting in hope, Christ was
born on Christmas day, and today we mark his
baptism in the Jordan. Whether you were baptized
as an infant or an adult, today is a good day to
reflect on your baptism.
Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime sacrament, but
the graces of the sacrament are with us for our
entire lives. Too often we forget that this is the
sacrament that “keeps on giving.” Tap into those
graces. Do you believe in God, in Jesus Christ, in
the Holy Spirit, and in the holy, Catholic Church?
Prove it! What difference does it make in your
life every day?
Guatemala Thank You!
Below is a scanned letter from Fr. Carlos Portillo,
Director of the Association Obras Sociales del “Santo
Hermano Pedro,” Franciscan Friars, OFM, La
Antigua Guatemala. He is thanking Fr. Antonio and
the St. Leonard Parishioners for their donation to their
association of $10,000 supporting their hospital and
connected works of mercy on behalf of the poorest
of the poor.

Weekly Budget Envelope Boxe$ for 2016
At the entrance of the churches, please find boxes
for weekly donation envelopes. The weekly envelope
system is most important for proper parish planning,
budgeting, and updating our parish mailing list. Our
parish needs support from parishioners in order to
maintain staff, to improve its facilities, and to develop
its programs. For your sacrifices here and your generosity to our parish through the use of the weekly
envelope system, we thank you.
We are well advanced with our Saint Leonard
restoration plan and would be deeply grateful if
you could increase your weekly donation in order
to support our common efforts toward this end.
For parishioners and visitors to Saint Leonard Church,
a Kiosk is now available for those who find it more convenient to use a credit or debit card instead of cash or
check for the offertory and/or other donations. This can
be done either before or after Mass.
This weekend (January 16-17) there will be a second
collection for Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. The proceeds will go toward these
schools to assist more families with demonstrated
financial need and to help grow enrollment. In addition, 50% of the donations collected at our Masses
this weekend will go to our Saint John Parochial
School. Thank you for your generosity and belief
in the gift of a Catholic education.
We are grateful for your financial contribution to
the ministry of our Parish. We appeal to the whole
community of the North End and to our visitors to
support our efforts in restoring Saint Leonard Church.
Weekday Masses
Daily Masses are at 12:05pm at Sacred Heart Church
in North Square until further notice.
Laughter is
the best
medicine.

Food for Thought – The Church
The Church’s doors must be open so that all may
come and that we can go out of those doors and
proclaim the Gospel.
Pope Francis, General Audience
St. Peter's Square, June 12, 2013
DONATE AT THE KIOSK
Our church has now installed
a Kiosk next to the statue of
Saint Teresa to allow people
who carry very little cash to
make a donation. One can give any amount he or
she wishes and also make their donation recurrent
on a weekly or monthly or yearly basis. By typing
in your email address when you are requested
you will receive a receipt to be used for your
income tax return. It is very simple to use. Give it
a try!
Snow Snow Snow Snow Snow & Ice
Autumn weather has been very pleasant so far.
Nevertheless, snow fall is to be expected sometime
soon. We ask any young person to volunteer to help
remove snow from the Peace Garden pathway and
the sidewalks around Saint Leonard and Sacred Heart
Churches. We have become a bit more technological
this year. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Joe Crea
the church has a brand new snow blower. All
we need is someone who knows how to use it.
If you are able to offer your help when
the time comes, please fill the following
form and drop it into one of the Sunday
collection baskets, possibly next week. Thank you.
I would like to assist with the removal of snow and ice!
