onvert you memories to digital format. Your VHS videos, 8mm and 16mm movies,
slides, photos, audio cassettes and reel to reel audios contain valuable memories. If you
can’t view these images because you don’t have the right equipment or fear they are
being compromised by age, you won’t want to miss our digital preservation event.
On Saturday, June 18, from 11:00-1:00, the library will partner with Digital Memory Media, a
leading provider of digital imaging services to provide digital preservation services to our patrons. We have worked with DMM’s parent company Innovative Document Imaging to digitize
Waldwick’s history collection and DMM brings secure, professional preservation services to individuals at an affordable price. Items will be collected on the day of the event. Twenty percent
of all proceeds will be credited to the library.

Home Delivery Now Available
The Friends of the Waldwick Library are now providing home delivery service
to Waldwick residents unable to visit the library due to permanent or
temporary illness or disability. Materials available for delivery include books,
audio books, magazines, cds and movies. Existing loan periods are in effect
for all materials.

he Neighbors Helping Neighbors
group meets on Monday nights at
7:00 PM. This is a nationally recognized, peer-led volunteer job searching
and networking group. Neighbors invites
individuals who are actively looking for
work and those interested in reinvigorating their job search to attend. Group
members assist each other in techniques
and suggestions to improve their job
search while offering support throughout
the process. Membership is open to anyone in career transition whether they are
unemployed, recent graduates, those reentering the job market or struggling
small business owners.

from 5:00-8:30 and on Saturday from
10:00-4:30. This is a walk-in service and
due to varying demand, service hours are
subject to change. We strongly suggest
patrons call before coming in for guidelines and an overview of the process in
order to facilitate service.

ESOL Classes
The library hosts two English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs, which are free and open to adults
who want assistance learning and speaking English.
English Language Learning Activities meets at the library on Tuesdays at
10:00 am. Designed for students at all
levels, the class focuses on reading and
comprehension, but includes other activities to assist students in learning the
English language. Registration for ESOL
programs is taken at the circulation desk
throughout the year.
ESOL Conversation Group meets at
the library on Wednesdays at 10:15
am. The program is designed to engage
students in lively dialogue about issues
they face in their daily lives.

arts and crafts, science activities, theatre, sewing, and more.

Youth Stages returns to Waldwick!
July 7th, 2016
11:45 am - Stone Soup: A Play-Shop
Part workshop, part storytelling performance, this performance
of Stone Soup is perfect for participation! The audience will
help tell the story of the hungry soldier who cleverly brings a
community together. Ages 3 and up.
2pm - The Mysteries of Harris Burdick
Using Van Allsburg's book as a jumping off point, participants
will create their own characters and plot, rehearse scenes in
small groups, then perform the results. Ages 10 and up.
Sciencetellers: Power & Energy
Saturday, July 23rd at 11am
Watch as we make things fly, spin, move, and soar while
tell you stories that will energize your summer! Throw on
your labcoat and buckle in – you are about to experience
the science of power and energy through several hands-on
experiments that will have you laughing, learning, and
having fun!
Touch the Music: Carnival of the Animals
Friday, July 29th at 10:30am
Ages 3 to 5
Expose your child to real instruments! We’ll learn about
instruments, listen to music, move like an animal, and then
play each musical instrument. Program is based on the
Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saens.

Fabulous Miss Tracey brings her yoga talents
to our kids this summer! Kids eight and up are welcome to join
the fun and increase their inner calm, breathing techniques,
and flexibility in this weekly 45 minute class.

The magic show that is both magic and super
fun! We’ll hear a re-telling of the “The
Tortoise and the Hare” and watch a volunteer
become the strongest reader in the library.
Kurt Gallagher Concert

The library welcomes back everyone’s favorite “big kid,” singersongwriter Kurt Gallagher for
songs, crazy instruments,
bubbles, and more. Kurt encourages kids to join in on the
music-making fun by clapping, shaking, spinning, stomping,
and singing along!

Yankee Batboy: The Luckiest Kid in New York

In 1961, Anthony Florio was a fifteen year old kid
eating, sleeping and breathing Yankee baseball while
living in Manhattan’s Little Italy. He believes he is
the biggest baseball fan in the world and idolizes
Mickey Mantle. Imagine how Anthony felt when he
was asked to be a Yankee’s batboy. Anthony Florio recounts growing up in Little Italy and his adventures
with some of the biggest players in Yankee history.

The Air Force in WWII
Friday, May 20, 2:00 pm
Joe De Luccia, is a radio operator/gunner who as
part of a ten-man crew on a B-17, flew 32 combat
missions between June and October 1944. Flying
at 30,000 feet and in temperatures of minus 50
degrees, each mission was subject to attack by
enemy fighter planes and anti-aircraft flak from the
ground. Joe will describe what it was like in aerial
combat inside a B-17 Flying Fortress. He will
discuss gaining control of the skies over Germany in
preparation of the later Allied invasion. Don’t miss
this very special presentation by a true hero of The
Greatest Generation.

Whipped Up: A Cookbook Book Club
Calling all cooking and baking enthusiasts.
If you enjoy perusing cookbooks and trying new recipes, this is
the book club for you. Members meet at 7:00 pm on the first
Tuesday of each month with a dish prepared from the latest
cookbook selection. Our hostess Kristen will lead a discussion and
everyone gets to sample a variety of culinary delights. Cookbooks available at the

winner all describe Teddy Roosevelt, our remarkable
36th president who promoted progressivism and

Dixon, portrays Roosevelt in this fully costumed
event produced by American Historical Theatre.

seeing a great film the way the filmmaker intended-on the big screen with state of the art
