many (though for reasons other than driving, showing and cleaning celebrating and giving thought to those both near and far who are less fortunate or are going through difficult times. What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with our visit to Longwood Gardens on December 4th and our annual AACC Holiday Party on December 19th. Kick off the holiday season with your Corvette family! Looking forward to seeing you all at both of these Activities

Thinking of You
Our sympathies go out to Blair Ferguson on the passing of his mother, Pauline. She passed away on Nov. 20. Services will be held Sat., Dec. 5th, in Long Island, NY. Royce Kark wishes to thank members for the concern and condolences extended on the passing of his mother, Dorothy, during November. If anyone knows of a member who is hospitalized, had surgery, or lost a loved one, please notify VP Mike Cutro ([email protected], 610‐365‐8659) or one of the other Board Members. Halloween Party
Chair: Jeff Mohring (‘04)
Sat., Oct. 31 | AACC held a long‐overdue Halloween Party at the Aladdin Restaurant (Allentown, PA). The evening got off to a great start with all 24 participants arriving in costume. The Mediterranean food was a hit and just when the entrees were served, the power went out for the rest of the night! But that didn’t stop the party. The belly dancer still gave her performance and the costume contest was the highlight of the evening. Photos of the winning costumes appear below.  Best Non‐Rented Costume: Woody Roberts (L); Best Overall Costume: Linda Roberts (R)
 Best Couples Costume: Scott & Jeanette Marakovits
 Best Male Costume: Dennis Corona (L)
 Best Female Costume: Ginny Fogel (L)

Spinnerstown Lunch
Chair: Bonnie Corona (‘07)
Sat., Nov. 07 | 30 people attend the lunch coordinated by Bonnie Corona at the historic Spinnerstown Hotel. Everyone was seated in one room and the meals were wonderful. A dozen Corvettes even came out of hiding! The restaurant, located at 2195 Spinnerstown Road, Spinnerstown, PA, is a consistent donor to the Tricky Tray auction at AACC’s Springfest Corvette Show. Wicked on Broadway
Event Chair: Mike Cutro (‘14)
Sat., Nov. 14 | Once the chartered bus was filled with club members, family and friends, the group of 55 set out from the Park & Ride in Easton, PA en route for New York City to see the hit Broadway show, Wicked. This Grammy and Tony award‐winning production is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald‐green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Beyond the show, time was spent sightseeing, holiday window shopping, eating, drinking, and generally exploring NYC. Unfortunately, not everyone on the bus got to see the performance. A friend accompanying Art and Margie Edinger was struck by a box truck and spent the afternoon in a local hospital. She was soon released and rejoined the group for the ride back home. We are all thankful the accident was not worse and sorry that she missed the show. Winner’s Circle
Sat., Nov. 14 | Lehigh Carbon Community College Fall Car Show, Schnecksville, PA — Dennis Guth (People’s Choice Award); Len Feinberg (People’s Choice Award). Please notify the Newsletter Editors if you win an award at a non‐club‐sanctioned event. Page 5

Chair: Bonnie Serfass (‘60, ‘93, ‘12)
Sat., Jan. 16 (2016) | Come join your fellow club members and potential members for a fun afternoon during the cold winter months. Bonnie Serfass coordinated an afternoon of painting and laughs at the Country Clay Studio (Brodheadsville, PA). The $30/pp cost for a 3‐hour class includes all supplies, setup and cleanup. What is Top Tier Gas?
Justin Banner (CorvetteForum.com)
Wed., Oct. 28 | ...“Top Tier Gasoline” [is] recommended by General Motors for your Corvette to maximize perform‐
ance and reduce maintenance costs. So, what exactly is Top Tier Gas, and what does it really do for your ‘Vette? Well, it’s a bit of a marketing ploy, a gasoline additive standard, and probably something you don’t want to avoid. According to their website (www.toptiergas.com), Top Tier Detergent Gasoline is the standard used by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Mercedes‐Benz, and Audi after they all came together to “recognize that the current EPA minimum detergent requirements do not go far enough to ensure optimal engine performance.” It’s not limited to ethanol or even premium gasolines – all grades of gas that a fuel supplier sells must hit this standard in order to be recognized at Top Tier. So, what is the standard? Well, first, and most importantly, is that there are no metallic additives in their fuel mixture. This leads to more pollution and damage to the emission system. The detergent requirements are not determined by the amount or type of detergent but instead by a testing standard. If you want your gasoline to be Top Tier, it must be tested at an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and demonstrate specified levels of: • Deposit control on intake valves using a Ford Ranger 2.3 L four‐cylinder engine • Deposit control in the fuel injectors • Deposit control in the combustion chamber using a Ford Ranger 2.3 L four‐cylinder engine • Prevention of intake‐valve sticking using a 1.9‐liter Volkswagen Wasserboxer engine or a 5.0‐liter GM V8 Oh, and you must also pay $25,000 to $30,000 for testing to become Top Tier. The laboratory you sent it to will mail the results to GM, and it’s a Pass/Fail test, so there is no in‐between. In all, most Top Tier gasolines will usually contain two to three times the amount of detergent required by the EPA. Now, should you avoid using Top Tier gasoline? Probably not. The EPA standards for detergents hasn’t changed since 1995 so they have been good so far, but with Top Tier you do get that extra insurance that you’re getting a better qual‐
ity fuel for your engine. You don’t even have to shop for fuel at expensive places like Chevron, Exxon, or Texaco ,or other Big Oil stations. You can buy your fuel from QuickTrip, Valero, or even Costco. 2016 Michelin Corvette Challenge
ModernTireDealer.com
Wed., Nov. 04 | Michelin North America Inc. reports the Michelin Corvette Challenge race series kicks off its inaugural season Feb. 20, 2016, at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club facility near Las Vegas. Composed of identically prepared, track‐ready Corvette Stingray models, the series will feature 15 races over eight weekends, utilizing multiple configurations of Spring Mountain’s 6.1‐mile racetrack. With a unique season‐long (Continued on page 8)

payment plan, competitors will simply arrive and drive for each event and take delivery of their Corvette Stingray following the season finale on Dec. 10, 2016. The Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, based at Spring Mountain, will serve as the technical race partner for the series. “The Corvette Stingray is one of the most track‐capable production cars available and our enhancements simply augment the produc‐
tion specs to help ensure durability for a dedicated racing life,” says Ron Fellows. “With the cars mechanically on equal footing, driver skill will be the determining factor in the rankings, which should make it a very exciting series.” The Ron Fellows Performance Driving School collaborated with Chevrolet and Michelin to develop the series, as well as the package of performance and safety equipment required for each participating race car. Many of the performance components are derived from a new portfolio of Corvette Z06‐based parts from Chevrolet. They’re designed to enhance the handling, braking, cooling and downforce performance of the Stingray. Chevrolet showed a Corvette Stingray Z51‐based concept race car featuring the new Z06‐based parts at today’s announcement. It is on display this week at the SEMA Show, in Las Vegas. Additionally, all of the cars will run on Michelin racing slick tires in dry conditions or Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in wet conditions. Michelin tires are the exclusive choice on all Corvette Stingray and Z06 production models. Michelin also is a long‐time partner of the Corvette Racing team, which in 2015 won the Triple Crown of endurance racing in‐
cluding the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the Le Mans 24 Hour race. “Corvette owners have been competing in showroom‐stock‐type racing for six decades and the new Michelin Corvette Challenge extends that legacy,” says Harlan Charles, Corvette marketing manager. “With Michelin’s support and the direction from Ron Fellows and his team, the series offers Corvette racers a unique competition experience all their own.” Below is the schedule for the 2016 series, with each race weekend featuring a pair of 30‐minute races on the challeng‐
ing Spring Mountain circuit: February 20/21, March 19/20, April 16/17, May 21/22, Sept 17/18, October 15/16, November 19/20, and December 10 (followed by awards banquet). More information on the racing series is available at: http://michelincorvettechallenge.com. Page 9

NCM Motorsports Park Ruling Delayed
The Bowling Green Daily News
Mon., Nov. 16 | Warren Circuit Judge John Grise will delay his ruling on a request to temporarily restrain activities at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park after all parties involved asked for the delay. Grise has been asked to rule on halting events that cause track noise that has plagued nearby Clark Circle residents for more than a year. Grise on Monday signed the order delaying his decision as requested by The National Corvette Museum Foundation Inc.; the City‐County Planning Commission of Warren County; the Warren County Code Enforcement Board; Residents Against Motorsports Track Noise, LLC; and two Clark Circle residents, Janet Jent and Sarah Buckley. In the order, Grise stated he won't make any ruling on the pending joint motion for temporary injunction and restraining order any earlier than Nov. 23 "in order to provide the parties addi‐
tional time to continue their discussions." Grise recently held two days of hearings to take testimony in the case, asking the attorneys at one point if they could be prepared for a trial in March. The NCM will be in court Tuesday morning in a separate case before Warren District Judge John Brown. The NCM is appealing a $100 a day fine levied by the county code enforcement board regarding a disputed certificate of occupancy for the property at 505 Grimes Road. Our Members Do What?

My Marketplace
Marty Hegyi’s My Marketplace feature resumed at regular meetings in October and will run through March 2016, when our club activities pick up again. Contact Marty if you have a product to present to fellow club members about the latest and greatest Corvette products or services. This season, we learned about a portable electric/hydraulic car lift (Scott Marakovits) and a comparison of semi‐metallic and ceramic brake pads (Rick Serfass). If you are not comfortable speaking in front of a group, provide Marty with your information and he will gladly present it on your behalf. (You know Marty — he likes to talk!) Adventure Trip 2016
Chair: Jeff Mohring (‘04)
Our club trip will take place June 2 ‐ 8, 2016. Preliminary plans are to leave on Thursday, June 2nd and drive to Rocky Mount, NC. (This is approximately 7.5 hours without stops). We will stay there for 1 night. Friday, June 3rd: Drive to Myrtle Beach, SC (3.5 hours without stops). The Myrtle Beach Corvette Club is hosting a dinner at the Landmark Beach‐
side Hotel that evening and their Corvette Show, “Boardwalk on the Beach,” is held the following day, Saturday, June 4th. Sunday, June 5th: Drive from Myrtle Beach to Charleston, SC (2.25 hour drive), where we will stay for 2 nights. Sightseeing plans are being made for both Sunday and Monday, June 6th. Tuesday, June 7th: Drive 6 hours north to Richmond, VA area; stay for 1 night. Wednesday, June 8th: Drive home (approx. 6 hours without stops). Some items and facts we do have:  Lodging will cost approx. $1,200. ($150 x 6 nights = $900 + taxes & fees) the cost of the hotels are going to be considerable because it is prime season at destination/resort towns.  Food will cost approx. $1,000. ($150 [including taxes & tips] x 7 days = $1,050)  We will drive approx. 1,800 miles round trip therefore, transportation will cost about $250. (1,800 miles cars get approximately 25 mpg, 1,800/25 = 75 gallons x $3.00/gal = $225.)  Grand total will cost about $2,200 ‐ $2,500 for 2 people. Contact Jeff at 610‐392‐6898 or [email protected] if you want to join the 18 cars who are already interested. AACC is in need of new chairpersons for our Springfest Corvette Show Last year Marty and Laura Hegyi announced that they were stepping down to focus on their other club responsibilities. Many plans are already in place — Wil Cooksey committed to be the special guest speaker; many committees exist with returning chairpeople and members; and extended contracts exist with both DeSales University and DJ Brian Keith. The Hegyis will support the new Chairperson(s) to ease the concerns of taking over this successful event. Page 11

Push It! Push It!!
Chair: Marty Hegyi (‘69)
2016 is quickly approaching and promises to be another active and fun filled year for AACC. One of the highlights for me from last year was attending and working the Mecum Auto Auction in Harrisburg, PA. York County Corvette Club (YCCC) emailed a letter inviting our club to join them in Harrisburg for the 2016 Mecum Auction July 21 (Thursday) ‐ July 23 (Saturday). They are looking for volunteers to push cars on and off the auction block. This is your chance to get “up close and personal” with some fantastic automobiles. “Pushers” receive free admission, parking, and a Mecum T‐shirt and ballcap. Plus you will have a chance to be on national TV, since most of the program is televised live on NBCSN. It’s also a great way to work those arm and leg muscles! For those who wish to volunteer there is a form to complete. Select the shift or shifts that suit your schedule and return the form to Stu Jones at YCCC at the address on the form. If you are interested and did not receive the form via email, you can call Stu at 717‐495‐0522 or 717‐755‐4586. Be sure to indicate that you are representing the Allentown Area Corvette Club when you volunteer. Our goal is to get 20 AACC members (guys and gals) to volunteer for one or more days at this event. A Cadillac Mid-Engine Halo Car?
Chris DeMorro, CorvetteOnline.com
Thu., Nov. 19 | The rumors of a mid‐engine Corvette have become a routine part of the discussion about any future models, even though GM is always quick to shut such rumors down. But this long‐dreamt unicorn of a car might actu‐
ally be in the works, albeit wearing a Cadillac crest rather than a Chevrolet bowtie, and the rumor originates from no less than the luxury automaker’s CEO Johan de Nysschen. In an interview with Motor Trend that point‐blank asks the Cadillac chief about the possibility of a Corvette‐based, mid‐
engine halo car, de Nysschen says “It has to be one of the options that we consider.” While not an outright admission, it’s the closest a GM executive has ever come to suggesting the possibility of a mid‐
engine Corvette. The groundwork for another Corvette‐based Cadillac has already been laid. Making it a mid‐engine would be quite the coup for GM and could steal some thunder back from the lusted‐after Ford GT. Image: GM Cadillac XTR

Nov. 12 | For Tony Rosenbum and dad Roger it’s not unusual to travel cross‐country and meet‐up for a concert or other trip together. What was unusual for this trip was that Tony was not exactly up‐front with his dad on everything this excursion entailed. Tony, a career United States Marine (retired) who now owns Motova8, Inc., a leadership semi‐
nar company in Southern California, has been planning this special day for about two years. “Every now and then I grab dad and take him on an excursion,” said Tony. “We travel somewhere – typically a concert. We like music. I never tell him what it is. I just say ‘hey we’re going, trust me’ and he always does. I told him we’re go‐
ing to do something different this time for music. I never told him we were going to see a concert because I didn’t want to lie to him. So the ‘music’ is his new XM Radio.” Tony told his dad that before their music portion of the trip, they were going to stop by the National Corvette Museum for a tour. “He was all excited,” Tony said. What Tony didn’t tell his dad was that one of the cars on the Museum’s Cor‐
vette Boulevard was his, and the one sitting next to it was Tony’s. “I’m in a fortunate position that I got to buy my fa‐
ther a brand new car,” Tony said. Tony ordered the cars from Karl Johanson of Sunrise Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Collierville, TN. But how did he know what his dad would love? He played a little game with his dad, asking him what his dream car would be, “Of course he says Corvette… so I get all that information out of him without him know‐
ing why and I ordered him that exact car.” It’s not surprising that Roger is a Corvette fan as he retired from General Mo‐
tors after working in Flint, MI for 38 years. His Corvette of choice? A 2016 triple black Stingray Convertible. This is Roger’s second Corvette – his first was a 1958 painted Candy Apple Green that he owned for just a few years. Tony chose a 2016 Shark Gray Z06 Corvette for his R8C Delivery and it’s the second Corvette he has owned. His first was a 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette, purchased while on a Navy ship on his way back from Iraq. That’s how Tony came to know dealership sales consultant Karl, who accompanied them during their R8C Delivery. Page 14

Nov. 19 | November marks Military Appreciation Month at the National Corvette Museum – where those who served, plus their immediate family receive complimentary Museum admission. For the 8th straight year the Museum has also hosted “Vets ‘n Vettes” presented by Mobil 1 – an event celebrating two icons of America – our veterans of the armed forces and the Corvette. The event was held November 5‐7, 2015 and the first day of festivi‐
ties was dedicated to wounded warriors who were bussed in from Fort Knox and Fort Campbell. “They have returned from service with physical or mental wounds that happened while they were doing their service,” said Wendell Strode, Museum Executive Director. “These events and activities are our small way to show appreciation to our servicemen and women.” The day kicked‐off at the NCM Motorsports Park, a new track facility owned by the Museum that opened Labor Day weekend 2014. Approximately 100 volunteers (many of whom were also veterans) gave rides to the wounded warriors and veterans in their Corvettes, and the veterans could take as many rides as they liked, swapping cars after each ride to try out different generations and models of Corvette. “The best thing ever is to see the look on their [wounded warriors’] faces when they get their Corvette ride,” said Katie Frassinelli, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Museum and Motorsports Park. “We host them for Cor‐
vette Plant and Museum tours, a nice sit‐down lunch with speakers. We also provided them with a goodie bag from Mobil 1 and a gift card to the Corvette Store.” ...Attendance at this years’ event reached record numbers with over 245 area veterans and wounded warriors coming to Thursday’s complimentary luncheon, and a total of 450 guests there to celebrate. “At one point during the luncheon we asked everyone who has served to please stand,” said Karen Renfrow, Museum Events Manager. “I think upwards of 90% of the room stood. It was such a great feeling. We are excited to see the participation grow.” If you didn’t get the opportunity to participate in this year’s event, we hope you will mark your calendars for November 3‐5, 2016 and make plans to join us then!
