Welcome
As the Executive Director of Parking Network, it is my pleasure to welcome
you to the sixth Airport Parking Network Event, this year held in Munich,
Germany. This conference gives you the unique opportunity to team up with
peer professionals, exchange ideas with other airports and participate in
workshops specifically focused on airport parking solutions.
Munich Airport welcomes you warmly to the sixth Annual Airport Parking
Network Event in the capital of Bavaria. We are delighted to have the honour of
co-hosting this year’s event and to offer a forum for international dialogue and
practice-sharing related to the subject of parking.
Parking at the airport – that is usually the first and the last point of contact
passengers have with an airport and a city during their journey. So it is all the
more important to integrate parking in a positive overall experience.
That is why the subject is actually at the top of the agenda of most airports.
With the participation of the major airports from over 17 different countries
representing over 90 airports, combined with the input of key players of the
industry, the success of this networking event is already guaranteed.
We believe that participating in this prestigious event will stimulate, educate,
and equip you with the most advanced and up to date information in respect
to airport parking.
Digitisation has helped us make parking at the airport much more customerfriendly. Passengers can obtain information in the Internet and select and book
the ideal parking option ahead of their trip. The next step will be to enable them
to enter multi-storey car parks with non-contacting key tags. Convenient routes
between the terminal and car parks, quick and easy links to the remote parking
lots for holidaymakers and, last but not least, the price also helps to create an
overall positive impression. All of us face more or less the same challenges: the
optimal use of scarce resources of land and access roads, to cope with a steadily
growing volume of traffic. Fending off the growing competition from car parking
services in the nearly neighbourhood is one of our most thrilling challenges.
You can expect interactive workshops from key players in the industry,
open discussions among airport parking managers, and plenty of room for
networking and sharing your knowledge with professionals from different
countries.
Don’t forget that you are invited to join our exclusive dinner at
AUDI Training Center (ATC II) on Monday evening.
At Munich Airport we offer a very wide range of additional services to make parking easy and more convenient on
our approx 35,000 lots. These services include Premium Parking Products like, convenience and secure parking,
a corporate car parking product, but also a car wash and cleaning service, shopping assistance, a smart repair service
and of course a valet service. Besides, we provide the largest shared Car Rental Facility in Europe and started to
integrate a Car Sharing Unit just 1 ½ years ago which attracts a new customer group to our car parks. The positive
response to these offerings demonstrates that there is still room, especially in the field of services, to address traveller’s
needs in future in a service-oriented manner. I hope, we will discuss a lot of mutually beneficial topics and also how a
successful parking management strategy of the future might look like.
We hope that the presentations, workshops and our hospitality match your
expectations and we can spend an enjoyable time together.
Yours sincerely,
Jorrit Weerman

About Munich
History
Sustainable Munich
The year 1158 is assumed to be the foundation date of Munich. By that time
the Guelph Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria, built a bridge over the
river Isar next to a settlement of Benedictine monks.
The monks’ presence dated back to the 8th century, although settlement in the
Munich area can be traced back to the late neolithic.
To force traders to use his bridge (and charge them for doing so) Henry also
destroyed a nearby bridge owned by bishop Otto von Freising.
Subsequently the bishop and Henry quarreled about the city before Emperor
Frederick I Barbarossa at an Imperial Diet held in Augsburg in 1158. This
sanctioned Henry’s spoliation, and awarded an annual compensation for the
bishop, and also confirmed Munich’s trading and currency rights.
Almost two decades later in 1175 Munich was officially granted city status and
received fortification. In 1180, with the trial of Henry the Lion, Otto I
Wittelsbach became Duke of Bavaria and Munich was handed over to the bishop
of Freising. Otto’s heirs, the Wittelsbach dynasty would rule Bavaria until 1918.
In 2009 the city set the ambitious goal of achieving 100 percent renewable
energy supply by 2025. In cooperation with the city-owned utility company
Stadtwerke München (SWM), Munich is aiming to produce enough green
electricity at its own plants by 2025 to meet the power requirements of the
entire municipality
of Munich — at least 7.5 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) per year. This would
make Munich the first city in the world with over 1 million inhabitants to
achieve this goal.
Shopping
As you expect from a major destination, Munich does not disappoint when
shopping is the choice of entertainment. The city offers a great shopping
experience. If you are looking for luxury items head towards the streets
around the Opera. Kaufingerstrasse and Neuhauserstrasse are affordable
places to shop. Hohenzollernstrasse is where you can find some of the best
deals on the streets. Viktualienmarkt is a popular market in the city center.
Business
Munich’s economy ranges from small craftsmen and the manufacturing
sector to innovative services and high-growth sectors. Munich is at the heart
of Germany’s high-tech industries.
In a competition between different European locations, the Bavarian capital is
the leader in the sectors of IT- and communication technology, media, finance
and life sciences.
It is home to around 22,000 high-tech companies in the fields of electronics,
telecommunications, aviation, and aerospace as well as electrical, mechanical,
and automotive engineering.
Consequently, Munich’s trade fairs are the first choice of industries that play
key roles in international economic development.
Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest funfair held annually in Munich.
It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in
October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending
the event every year. To the locals, it is often simply called Wiesn, after the
colloquial name of the fairgrounds (Theresienwiese) themselves.
The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held
since 1810.

General Information
Language
Dress Code
The official language in Munich is, of course, German.
With many Munich residents coming from other
German regions or from abroad, “Standard German”
dominates as spoken language in Munich.
Nevertheless, some residents will speak with a more
or less strong Bavarian dialect, which can deviate
substantially from the standard German. Munich
attracts many international tourists and has a large
community of non-German speaking professionals
working in international companies, universities,
research institutions... That’s way it is not surprising
that English is widely spoken and understood throughout the city in restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions,
shops as well as by ordinary citizens.
For the conference networking session/dinner we
advice tenue de ville, for all other occasions informal
clothing.
Currency
The currency in Munich is the euro, which makes it a
very worry-free destination for many other Europeans
to visit when it comes to money matters.
Weather
In September and October, the weather in Germany
can still be pleasant, with golden days ablaze in
colorful fall foliage. Germans call these last warm
days of the year “Altweibersommer” (Indian summer).
As always, German weather is unpredictable, so be
prepared for cold and rainy spells.
Max Daytime Temperature in October in Munich:
13°C (55°F)
Tourist Information
Munich is the capital and largest city of the German state of Bavaria. It is located on the River Isar north of the
Bavarian Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg.
Pulsing with prosperity and Gemütlichkeit (cosiness), Munich (München) revels in its own contradictions. Folklore
and age-old traditions exist side by side with sleek BMWs, designer boutiques and high-powered industry. Its
museums include world-class collections of artistic masterpieces, and its music and cultural scenes give Berlin a
run for its money.
Despite all its sophistication, Munich retains a touch of provincialism that visitors find charming. The people’s
attitude is one of live-and-let-live – and Müncheners will be the first to admit that their ‘metropolis’ is little more
than a Weltdorf, a world village. During Oktoberfest representatives of the entire planet turn out to toast the town.
Electricity
The electric current in Germany is 230V and the cycle
is 50Hz. Germany uses a round two pin plug and
socket system so you may need an adapter.
Note that two pin adapters are not available in
Germany so you should pick one up before traveling.
Munich is home to Germany’s most successful and most famous football club, FC Bayern München. The team has
won the German championship a record 24 times and the German football cup a record 15 times. It has also won
the UEFA Champions League / European Cup 5 times in 1974, 1975, 1976, 2001 and 2013. They also won the Fifa
Club World cup in 2013.
Passport and Visa
If you wish to visit Munich, you should inquire
whether you will need a visa or not. If you do, make
sure to file an application in due time.
Travelers from the United States should be aware
that many establishments in Germany that take
credit cards will only do so with a card that has a pin
number. European cards have chips in them which are
not used currently in United States cards. Arrange for
your pin number while in the United States to avoid
having your card be useless in germany. Try to get
one that does not charge foreign transaction fees as
well. If you are an EU citizen, you must either present
a passport or an ID card valid for the duration of your
stay in order to enter Germany for tourist visits of up
to three months.
Citizens of other countries must have a valid passport.
Some non-EU citizens are required to produce a visa.
Please contact your travel agent or the nearest
German diplomatic post for further information.
Since 2006, the city’s motto has been “München mag dich” (“Munich loves you”).

MobiliSis GmbH
Address
Optimum capacity utilization of available parking space by 100% accurate
ramp and cross-sectional metering and single parking space detection
With its MagSense system MobiliSis can achieve that in both in- and outdoor
parking facilities. The MagSense system is linked with parking space management systems either via cable or wireless. The latter saves intricate and costly
cabling of the parking lots to be covered. Another major advantage of the
MagSense system is its ability to detect vehicles from below, through the
ceiling. The sensor is fixed at the ceiling of the lower floor, which avoids
damaging the pavement. Thus, even the top floor, which is not roofed, can
easily be included into ramp metering and/or single parking space detection.
Furthermore, MobiliSis offers the related infrastructure, for example, parking
space management systems, dynamic signposting, visualization via apps etc..
With its model “Buy Data not Sensors” MobiliSis offer an application of
MagSense which every client can afford.

Munich Airport
With 38.7 million passengers last year, Munich is Germany’s second-largest
airport and currently ranks 7th in Europe. Travellers from all over the world
value the quality of their stay and the service in Munich. The airport is regularly
voted one of the world’s most popular airports in the annual surveys conducted
by the prestigious London-based aviation research institute Skytrax. It was even
recently chosen as Europe’s best airport. One contributing factor to that is the
extensive range of upmarket shops and catering establishments. Moreover,
Munich Airport keeps on surprising its guests with out-of-the-special ordinary
events, such as “Surf & Style”, the world’s largest artificial wave, where the
European Stationary Wave Riding championships are held, or a large Winter
Market in the pre-Christmas period. A new satellite will be connected to
Terminal 2 by a fully automated underground rail system. 52 new gates is
intended to increase handling capacity at Munich Airport by 11 million
passengers a year. It is scheduled to be put into operation in 2015. The satellite
will help to improve our service quality. A total of 52 new gates will boost the
airports handling capacity by an additional 11 million passengers a year.
The growing of the new facility is scheduled for 2015/2016.

Workshops
Optimising pricing to maximise pre book revenues using yield management
A step by step interactive session with a real-life simulation designed to demonstrate the incremental increases
that can be achieved in car parking and ancillary revenues when pricing is optimised via easy to use yielding
functionality.
The ability to yield parking prices via a car park and ancillary pre booking system is one of the fundamental must
have features to enable airport commercial and parking teams to drive new incremental revenues from pre-booking and ancillaries.
This AeroParker session will demonstrate how to optimise revenues from bucket pricing, lead-time pricing and
hourly pricing. Using a live simulation where you will be assigned different types of airport car parks which will be
effected throughout the workshop by various market conditions the AeroParker team will guide you through the
challenge to generate the most revenue per car parking space by the end of the workshop.
Generating incremental ancillary revenues via a digital engagement and E-commerce strategy
The Airport Direct Travel presentation will focus on using e/m-commerce to promote and sell Airport Products, in
particular via parking, which is a significant revenue stream, next to aeronautical and retail activity including Food
and Beverage.
This workshop will explore the benefits associated with adopting an effective e/m-commerce and digital strategy as
well as providing some examples of how Airports have benefited from a more joined up approach to selling parking,
ancillary products and relevant services.
The open workshop will cover areas such as:
• Emphasis on customer engagement, retention and loyalty.
• Using integrated CRM techniques to maximize each opportunity.
• Focus on the up sell/cross sell of products during the entire engagement process (pre and post-sale communications).
• ‘What didn’t the customer buy’ is seen as a key opportunity.
• Reporting and Forecasting – from ‘here and now’ to historical.
• Using forecasting to influence trading patterns.
• Airports becoming the primary distribution channel for all their services & products including flights, parking & services.
Attendees from Airport Direct Travel will be from an airport, car park and retail environment, and
complimented by team members with a digital and e-commerce background, all with a wealth of experience.

How to organize taxi- and bus parking at airports,
considering sustainability and environmental protection
Ancillary revenue opportunities and Revenue management
Our workshop will discuss the revenue opportunities presented by offering a car park reservation system. Of
relevance to airports already offering car park reservations, the workshop will also cover occupancy forecasting and
revenue management.
There is often an urgent need to control the flow of taxis and buses within a limited area in front of the
terminal(s).
APCOA PARKING has developed a software based system to manage taxi and bus movements.
The workshop is designed to appeal to a broad range of car park operators, from those providing no reservation
service to those delivering advanced services to customers.
Benefits:
• Trouble-free solution for the airport
• Higher level of satisfaction of the passengers
• Satisfaction of the Taxi- and Bus-Drivers
• Quality management
• Environmental protection
The areas covered during the workshop will include...
• The booking horizon and ancillary revenue opportunities
• 3rd party sales channels and selling via airlines and travel agents
• Forecasting occupancy and the future of car park revenue optimisation.
How to simplify your Airport Parking Management and increase your revenues
The happy traveler – how can technology contribute to customer satisfaction?
At HUB Parking Technology we know what the main challenges for Airport Parking Management are. Many of the
world’s busiest passenger airports, already chose HUB as a trusted business partner.
The workshop will showcase the JMS, Janus Management System, a cutting-edge, intuitive and user-friendly
software solution to manage multiple parking locations and different types of HUB equipment with just one tool.
It is highly scalable and perfectly adaptable to any type of installation, from the smallest to the most complex
projects with high traffic levels. With JMS you can easily manage and control centrally all your HUB equipment and
systems from any web-connected device, including smart phones and tablets.
JMS, the first tile-based Parking Management System, offers a very intuitive and user-friendly interface with
Windows 8 styling, allowing you to use it with virtually no learning curve. JMS also offers the possibility to
enhance, inform and improve your business performance through a customized digital signage solution.
A Ground Transportation System (GTS) is also a crucial part of the JMS functionalities and it allows the Parking
manager to easily dispatch, monitor, track, control, charge fees and record commercial vehicle operations. Vehicles
are associated with access media, including AVI transponders and proximity cards, which are utilized to authenticate
and subsequently bill/charge an account. This system improves dramatically the automated dispatching processes,
the management and control of on-demand taxi, Limousine services and Charter Buses and the operators access
throughout the airport. The system also provides Ad Hoc reporting, monitoring of capacity at any given time and
it eliminates driver’s pass and enforcement inefficiencies. Consequently, customer service improves by increasing
security levels and providing guaranteed taxi availability.
Nedap has been participating with the APNE for a number of years now. This year we would like surprise the
attendants a little with a different setup of the meeting than usual. What that is? Just join us and find out.
This year’s theme will be ‘The happy traveler – how can technology contribute to customer satisfaction?’.
The basic principles and new developments will be covered in this highly interactive session:
• wireless floor sensors for parking guidance and enforcement
• long range RFID and ANPR for automatic vehicle identification
• access control technology for vehicle restricted zones
Nedap has released a lot of new innovations recently that may help you improve the airport and parking experience of your clients.

Choice and comparison: are aggregators evil?
It is not how much data you can store, it is what you do about it!
How many of you consider aggregators for airport parking as a problem? Some of the most common problems laid at
the feet of these comparison platforms are increased competition, a loss of market share, decreased service quality,
and mistrust of on-site parking facilities. ParkCloud’s own comparison platform, ParkVia, receives over 10million visits a
year, promoting over 1,000 parking providers around the world. The platform is available in over 20 different languages
and generates more than 750,000 parking bookings per year. But is its impact purely negative? With both on- and
off-airport facilities available on the site, ParkVia has helped to bring airport parking reservations to the top of travel
planning lists, and create demand that all services benefit from. With 6 years of experience managing an ever-growing
network of providers and end users, ParkCloud has identified myriad ways that a comparison platform can be used to
help boost the reputation and use of parking facilities, and this workshop aims to share them, including:
• Online exposure: creating demand for parking starts with managing placement on this vital platform.
• Choice and comparison, and their effects on conversion rates. Choice is an essential part of guiding a customer to a decision on their part, but there is such a thing as too much choice, so how much is enough?
• Creating sales channels: how to identify and tap into markets big or small, local and international.
• Facing competition: retaining market share requires standing out from the crowd and offering the extra mile so often sought by customers today. As an aggregator, ParkCloud is well-versed in managing competition in locations across the world, and the benefits it can bring to conversions and customer experience.
• Perceptions and how to change them: as a neutral platform, a comparison website provides an opportunity to
reinvent services and change customer perceptions. Pricing, value for money, and customer feedback are among some of the most effective tools for this.
Do you sometimes have insight regarding what should be done to increase revenue but you cannot access enough
supporting data? Have you already got the intuition that there were hidden correlations between parking user behaviors
and other factors like period of the year, time between home and airport, flight schedule, taxi and bus flow, social level
of client, loyalty… but no real proof?
And what if you were right? What if it was possible to boost your intuition and cross parking data with complementary
data? What if it was hence possible to predict with high accuracy the demand over the year?
Thanks to the unfortunate Enron case, Xerox has developed a clustering algorithm that automatically classified 3 trucks
of documents in a few hours and optimally regrouped them into meaningful categories. This experience has given birth,
in the parking field, to a fully new automated profiling tool. So join us to discover the XEROX Mobility Analytics Platform
(MAP®) and get behind the Matrix.
