47th SEASON 2015-2016
kanata theatre
47th SEASON 2015-2016
4000 Miles by Amy Herzog
Directed by Sandy Wynne
September 15-19 and 22-26, 2015
This Pulizter Prize finalist and Time Magazine’s “best play of the year” explores both growing up and growing old. With
his backpack, bicycle, and stories of his life-changing cross-country cycling trip in tow, 21-year-old Leo lands on the
New York City doorstep of his 91-year-old leftist grandmother, Vera. Their month together is sometimes combative, yet
always compassionate. These intergenerational roommates offer a wonderful mix as this funny, moving and revealing
show delves into the intimacies and complexities of adult relationships with families, friends and lovers.
Radium Girls adapted by D.W. Gregory
Directed by Tom Kobolak
November 3-7 and 10-14, 2015
The Radium Girls were young working class women who painted the dials of watches and clocks for everyone
– wondrous products with numbers that glowed in the dark in the 1920’s. Their hair would glow after leaving the
factory... Their boyfriends would smile. They became so sick that in court, they couldn’t raise their arms to swear
to tell the truth... For in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Newark, New Jersey, geiger counters held over the graves of
women dead too soon will actually start to click....
Cat’s Cradle by Leslie Sands
Directed by Susan Monaghan
The Ron Maslin Playhouse
is a modern 350-seat theatre located at
1 Ron Maslin Way, Kanata, ON K2V 1A7
just off Terry Fox Drive, south of highway 417
February 2-6 and 9-13, 2016
Nothing tickles the entertainment bone more than a well crafted whodunit and Cat’s Cradle has all the right
ingredients. An unsolved kidnapping (murder?) occurred near or at the old coaching house in the remote English
village of Waverton Magna. Detective Inspector Frost arrives on the scene determined to catch the killer who eluded
him twelve years ago. He is not a welcome sight as nearly everyone in the village is a suspect. Can the world weary
Inspector solve the mystery that has haunted him through his career? Can you?
The Odd Couple by Neil Simon
Directed by Jim Clarke and Ron Gardner March 22-26 & March 29-April 2, 2016
Felix Unger, the neat freak, has been kicked out of his house by his wife. Oscar Madison, the disorganized free spirit,
is enjoying a bachelor’s life. Oscar feels sorry for his friend and reluctantly takes Felix in, but as their polar opposite
personlities quickly clash and the arrangement becomes unmanageable, the friendship frays at the ends.
Calendar Girls by Tim Firth
Directed by Tania Carrière
May 10-14 and 17-21, 2016
This is a true story of a very ordinary group of women who spark an uproar with a very untraditional charity fundraiser
to honour one of their husband’s fight with Leukemia. Dropping everything for a good cause, their modesty spared only
by artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements, their calendar puzzles their husbands and mortifies their
children, and sparks a global phenomenon. A story of courage, Calendar Girls is quirky, poignant and hilarious.
OC Transpo bus route 118 runs past the Playhouse.
The Stittsville 96 route stops at Terry Fox and Hazeldean Road.
Routes are subject to change at any time.
