CANDIDATE-SUBMITTED BIOGRAPHIES
HERNTZ GOLMANN
Born and raised in Haiti, I speak English, French and Créole. I moved to Canada in 1979 to pursue
a better life. I spent time in Montreal and Lethbridge before settling closer to family. I always had
an interest in business and accounting. Shortly after moving to Ottawa, I enrolled in a business
program at Algonquin College. For the last 16 years I have worked as a Driving Instructor,
teaching defensive driving as per the rules of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
In my spare time I enjoy playing the guitar. I like the Beatles and Louis Armstrong. My favorite
song from him is "It's a wonderful world." I also like to watch and play sports. I have played and
coached soccer for many years and was cheering for Brazil in the World Cup. As hockey season
approaches, I look forward to watching the Sens.
Additionally, I am a member of "Bolides d'Ottawa" a community organization that brings members
together for sports games and raises money for charities.
JEFF SEETON
Jeff Seeton, 40, has been living in Kanata North for the last 10 years. Jeff, his wife Chantal and
their two daughters, Emma and Kayleigh, live in the Kanata Lakes community of Kizel Pond. Jeff is
a business person with a strong business mind. He is the president and owner of JobMatcher.ca, a
national recruiting and consulting agency based in Kanata. He is also a member of the Kanata
Chamber of Commerce. Business isn't Jeff's only passion; he shares his time working on behalf of
the community.
For the past 5 years Jeff has been the president of Kanata's Village Green Community
Association. From 2007 until 2010 he sat on the Board of Directors of the Kanata Food Cupboard;
1 year as the vice chair. This past year Jeff was a nominee for Citizen Of The Year in the Kanata
Chamber of Commerce People's Choice Awards.
He has been a private consultant and an advisor to governments on health and community issues.
Jeff has been a sought after guest on many local news programs. Jeff has worked as a consultant
in a planning and strategic role for federal legislation and municipal bylaws, notably Smoke Free
Ottawa campaign and the proposed Tobacco Youth Protection Act.
Jeff was educated in Public Administration and Governance at Ryerson University.
Jeff first ran for public office at the age of 30, when he ran against Alex Cullen in the 2000
municipal elections. Some of Jeff’s many accomplishments include:
- Member of the Kanata Chamber of Commerce.
- Former board of directors member for the Kanata Food Cupboard 2007 – 2010
- Former Vice Chair of the Kanata Food Cupboard 2009 – 2010
- President of the Village Green / Kanata Town Centre Community association 2005 – 2010
- Consultant for the Tobacco Youth Protection Act.
- Consultant for the Smoke-Free Ottawa campaign.
LILI WEEMEN
Lili Weemen is not new to the political scene. As an immigrant, visible minority, Lili has been very
active politically. First ran in a federal election in Mississauga South, then in La Beauce, Québec
and later ran for mayor of Toronto. She is bilingual (English/French) and works as Sales and
Services Associate at YMCA.
MARIANNE WILKINSON
Marianne Wilkinson has spent her adult life as a motivated, effective community leader and
builder. She served for 20 years on the Councils of March Township, the City of Kanata and the
Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, including nine years as Mayor.
She has also been a lifetime volunteer, contributing extensively in a variety of roles at the local,
provincial and national level. Among her recent activities has been serving on the Boards of both
the local and provincial Councils of Women; as Chair of the Board of Director's of the Ottawa
Talent Initiative, a grassroots movement to assist laid off technology workers; a Treasurer of both
the Canada Day Committee and the Canadian Federation of University Women Kanata; as a
Director of the Beaverbrook Community Association, contributing significantly on planning issues;
as Chair and key volunteer for the Kanata Food Cupboard and as Warden of St. John's Anglican
Church where she was Chair of the Committee for an addition to the church hall and represented
the church on the Board of the Blue Heron Co-operative Housing Development that was built on
church lands.
A true pioneer woman in municipal government she has used that experience to help others and to
start new organizations and activities. Her ability to define a problem, and inspire those around her
to work towards a common goal has resulted in great achievements in community building. She
has a unique ability to see the big picture clearly, without losing sight of the myriad of detail that is
essential to bringing the vision to reality. Her awards include the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal
and the 2005 Y Woman of Distinction award for Lifetime Achievement.
