Restaurant Spotlight
From a midday brunch to supper at sunset, whether you sit out on the sundeck or unwind indoors,
Moonshadows is the ultimate casual dining setting, right on the Malibu beach.
Moonshadows serves a mouthwatering mix of seafood and signature dishes with Asian fusion, Italian and
American influences. Andrea Bullo opened Moonshadows in 2001 after running his other successful
restaurant, Il Buco, in Beverly Hills. His mission was to transform the old diamond in the rough into a “chic
and casual” Malibu beach restaurant, featuring a patio bar called Blue Lounge. The restaurant has been highly
acclaimed and has received awards from many renowned institutions, such as Wine Spectator’s Award of
Excellence (2006-2011), The Michelin Award and The Best of City Search. Moonshadows has also been
featured in several top magazines and as Travel Channel’s “sexiest beach restaurant and bar in the world.”
Come to gorgeous Malibu and be mesmerized by Chef Jaime’s dishes. Whether you order the Oven Roasted
Maine Lobster, Wok-Sauteed Thai Red Tiger Shrimp or the Grilled Filet Mignon, you will surely leave
satisfied wanting to come back again and again.

Buratta,
is a fresh Italian cheese made up of mozzarella and
cream. The literal translation of Burratta from Italian to English
means "buttery" and it is recognized by many as one of the best
fresh cheeses in the world. Burrata is made of pulled curd or pasta
filata cheese, which means that it's formed from the elastic curd of
fresh milk, still warm and straight from the vat, but is formed not
into a solid ball, but into a little hollow pouch, which is then filled
with fresh cream and soft stringy bits of curd, the ritagli, or rags,
remaining after mozzarella making. The cheese has a rich buttery
flavor and it retains its fresh milkiness. The interesting flavor and
the different textures inside and outside make it perfect for
appetizers such as crostini or a caprese salad, pasta entrees,
paninis, pizza & even desserts.
Burrata pairs well with:
Fruits: Pear, melon, fig, avocado
Herbs: Basil, arugula, chives
Vegetables: Tomatoes, green beans, butternut, radicchio, beet
Meats: Prosciutto, pancetta, bacon, salami
Wines: Moscato, Sancerre or Beaujolais, Pinot Noir,
Sauvignon Blanc
We carry Gioia Label Burrata which has a short shelf life (must
be used within a few days of receipt) as well as DiStefano which
carries a longer shelf life.
Try it as a special cheese for Valentine’s Day!
