BIS RAIDS PACKAGED DRINKING WATER UNITS MISUSING ISI MARK By editor - Jul 22, 2016 Chennai, 22nd ,July, 2016 A team of officials from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Southern Regional Office (SR0), Chennai conducted Enforcement search and seizure operation on 21/07/2016 at Chennai and Kancheepurm District on information of suspected misuse of ISI Mark. The details of search and seizure operations are given below: 1. During the operation at M/s. Aquaver Minerals situated in S.No.3/1B2, Vinnarasi Street, Darkast, Chrompet, 20 litre PET Jars filled with Packaged Drinking Water were seized from the unit having brand name as “ CLASSIC” bearing ISI Mark and CM/L number 6100012971 of other licensed manufacturer. 2. During the operation at A Ve Aqua Farms, situated in No.4 Church Road, Injambakkam, Chennai, 1 Litre PET Bottles filled with Packaged Drinking Water were seized from the unit having brand name “AQUA RICH” bearing ISI Mark and CM/LNo 3443352 of other licensed manufacturer Action is being initiated by Chennai Branch Office, SRO against the offenders under (section 33) of Bureau of Indian Standards Act 1986. The offence is punishable with imprisonment up to one year or a fine up to Rs.50,000/ or both as per BIS Act,1986. General public are, therefore, requested that in case they come across any instance of misuse of ISI Mark on any product, the same may be intimated by Email at the address [email protected] or by Fax to 04422541076.
