Installation
Maintenance
• Separate the cover from the frame
• Lay the frame in place with the
correct drainage slopes applied to
surrounding concrete and aligned
so that when the final forecourt
is laid the cover will be flush with
ground level (except PC77)
• Install drainage tube to drainage
channel and check for blockages
• Concrete Frame into position
• The concrete around the opening
must be reinforced
• Once concrete is cured replace the
cover onto the frame and conduct
a final watertightness test
• Apply Grease to spring once a
year
• Ensure that that the inner drainage
channel and the gasket are both
free from debris to allow proper
drainage to occur.

This exciting new range of access covers has been designed for use on Service
station forecourts and refuelling stations where frequent access and heavy
traffic are paramount to the product design criteria.

UPP products have now been sold to over 110 countries across the globe and
Major Oil Companies continue to specify UPP ahead of rivals day in day out.
This kind of success is due, without doubt, to PetroTechnik’s commitment to
supplying only the best products to the market. Customers realise that UPP
systems give the best all-round investment value because the UPP products
offer tremendous advantages over the competition.

All PetroTite covers are extremely hard wearing and durable, they will not spin
out, buckle or lose shape due to pressure forces from vehicles and are highly
resistant to chemical corrosion.
The unique spring loaded hinge mechanism means that the ease of opening of
the PetroTite ultra strong cast iron covers is comparable to that of a lightweight
composite covers.
The mechanism also allows for the cover to remain open at any angle indefinitely.
This greatly increases safety and time/manpower efficiencies on site.
Each cover complies with the toughest engineering standards for access covers:
BS EN 124 to Class C250 structural integrity as tested by Lloyds British Testing
plc.
•
All UPP PetroTite covers are lockable and indeed must be locked to remain
fully closed - this increases on site security and safety, especially in today’s
world where terrorism and theft is a real concern for all.
•
•
When locked the covers become completely watertight thanks to a special
chemically resistant neoprene sealing gasket and internal drainage channel.
All surface liquids drain away from the cover preventing leakage into the
underground service.

The optional central inspection hatch on the PowerLift PC95
access cover is a unique feature on a cover with such ease
of handling. Typical lightweight composite covers could not
include such an opening in the centre of the cover without
losing structural integrity. The hatch allows service crews to
instantly gauge the basic state of the underground services
without necessitating the need to completely open the main
cover. This saves time and reduces the need to close sections of the forecourt during sump inspections and when
tank dipping.
1033mm
The PetroTite access covers continue this trend of product superiority by
combining the strength and durability of cast iron with the ease of handling
lightweight composite covers. The clever spring loaded hinge mechanism allow
the covers to be opened and closed with ease using a lightweight handle and
they stay open at any angle without the need for locking mechanisms or stays.
The covers are therefore easily opened and closed by operators of either sex
without the risk of injury that exists with conventional cast iron covers.
•
A safety grid can be installed across the inside opening of all
access covers. This is an added safety measure and means that
once the access cover lid has been opened the grid must also
be opened before full access to the underground services can
be achieved. This is especially important on the petrol station
forecourt as petrol vapour can often escape as the cover is
opened, overcoming those around - the safety grid means noone can fall down the hole and potentially injure themselves
in such circumstances. The safety grid can be completely removed to allow full access to the underground service.

As the covers are made of cast iron they cannot store any static electricity charge
and therefore do not pose a sparking risk as other non-metallic lightweight
covers can and do.
• Due to the nature of cast iron the covers are resistant to chemical corrosion
from petroleum and alcohols. All covers are painted with a special non-corrosive
paint to protect them from rust.
