Printing options for decoration flexibility.
At CafePress Pro we have a full arsenal of decoration and post-embellishment services
up our sleeve. Each is designed for our customer’s specific needs for specific products
(although we have been known to dream-up custom solutions for your unique needs by
modifying a service or two). Here’s a quick sample of what’s possible:
Direct-to-Garment Printing: Also known as DTG printing, this process uses specialized inkjet technology to
print on textiles and garments. DTG offers a major benefit over screen printing: Because we use CMYK (which is
the same “Four Color Process” used for color printing on paper), we can print millions of colors without escalating costs (screen printers charge by the color). Also, DTG prints from the computer to the garment, so an order
of 1,000 products with individualized names or numbers is no problem. Screen printers would have to create a
full set of screens for each unique product, incurring large set-up fees and long delays. Plus DTG can print from
any file with sufficient resolution, whereas screen printing generally require hard-to-get vector files.
Heat Transfer Printing: Providing similar results as DTG, this is the choice for “odd” shaped items like dog tees
and throw pillows. The image is printed in reverse on paper, then applied with a heat process.
Dye Sublimation Printing: Also known as Dye Sub, this process is similar to Heat Transfer except for special
sublimation inks that turn to gas when heated. Combined with ceramic items that absorb gaseous ink, the image
sets inside the coating for more brilliant color and clarity (as though it’s under glass) and greater protection from
scratching and dishwashers/microwaves.
Traditional Embroidery: We’ll take your image and convert it into the optimum number of threads that a
traditional embroidery machine can handle, then digitize the image and apply it. Cost varies according to the
embroidered area and number of colors.
InfiniStitch™ Embroidery: CafePress’ patent-pending process, InfiniStitch applies color dyes to threads after
they’re stitched. We first manipulate your design using filters that create a 3D effect, then dye threads (overcoming the color limitations of traditional spools and thread, using a palate of thousands of possible colors).
Screen Printing: For long-run, single image jobs, CafePress turns to traditional cost effective print methods.
We’ll even screen print orders of any quantity. Plus spot color and 4-color process are available on request.

Wide Format Printing: We can print up to 44” wide on roll paper stock, with razor sharp and highly accurate
colors. This includes paper all types of paper thickness and finish, including archival-quality papers. This
allows us to print posters and prints of various sizes (oh, and we also offer framing services too).
Small Format Printing:
With the same outstanding quality as you’ll find in our Wide Format services, we also offer printing on
smaller areas. This is used primarily for buttons, magnets, clocks and other smaller items and can include
special inks for the Dye Sublimation transfer previously mentioned).
Solvent Printing: This printing process gives you the benefits of water-based Wide Format printers, but
uses solvent-based inks which better adhere to plastics (particularly vinyl). Examples include stickers, signs
and banners using roll-stock vinyls in widths up to 30”.
Digital Printing: Delivering highly-accurate colors very quickly, this process delivers the industry’s top color
quality for paper products. This is perfect for jobs where color and vibrancy are paramount.
Laser Printing: Offering extremely fast production when print quality is secondary, Laser Printing is ideal for
job with disposable paper stickers (including projects like name tags and political campaigns).
Flatbed Printers: Using either solvent- or water-based inks, Flatbed Printers adhere to a wide range of
surfaces. It is ideal for products with special handling requirements, such as printing on cylinders, irregular
flat surfaces and other unique shapes. We use this process for SIGG™ water bottles and the steel casings
of Flip Mino video cameras.
Laser Engraving: For printing eye-catching designs on wood, leather, glass and metal products, our
Commercial Laser cutting and engraving process is state-of-the-art. They can also be used for cutting and
finishing jobs. While this technology is not currently used in live production, we’re now applying our knowhow to fresh ways to bring this laser technology to emerging products and projects.

Spec Samples
To get your hands on the real deal, simply order spec samples (available for most CafePress products). They can be purchased at the catalog’s end-quantity price (EQP). For
