Monroy Rios as you all know
passed away recently. His loss has
been hard on most of us, but at
the same time it is hard to stay sad
when Monroy was such a happy
person. Monroy was one of a
kind, who had the gift of spreading joy and smiles across everyone's face. Even complete
strangers to Monroy couldn’t help
but like him. Trenton Osman and
TJ Crippen, close friends to Monroy, told me a story about a cruise
they had just gone on over spring
break. On this cruise there was a
fancy dinner where everyone
dressed up really nice and was in a
very formal setting with music
playing so people could dance. In
the beginning of a dance you usually find everyone awkwardly
swaying back and forth, but not
Monroy. Monroy had a different
approach to this dance and life, he
went out on that floor and busted
a move. He was a trail blazer,
he did his own thing and didn't
care about a single person's
opinion. More people started
to move on to the dance floor
and actually have a good time.
A couple had told Trenton that
the party hadn't started until
Monroy walked in. That couple
was right, Monroy was always
the life of the party where ever
he went, usually in a sexy
striped shirt and bright green
hoody which represented his
personality and his sass. Anyone who knew Monroy knew
about his sass, with those quick
blindsiding comebacks and that
look of disgust as he rolled his
shoulders and with a flick of a
wrist you were burned. Most of
the time it was just for laughs
though. Honestly, Monroy was
a genuine human being which
every teacher and peer would
agree. Monroy's friends and
family are still feeling the loss of
such an important person in
their lives, but rather than
mourning his death they want
to celebrate his life; and there is
a lot to celebrate. I was told by
some of his closest friends that
Monroy was the glue of their
little family that had developed
and grown since before high
school, but their little family is
holding together just fine, even
after the loss of their dearest
friend because Monroy is still
their in their hearts.
Tuesday April, 21 was the
Chalk The Quad Memorial,
where friends and loved ones
expressed their memories and
love for Monroy. Most of the
quad right now is an image of a
giant tree. The tree represents
a lot of deep thoughts but is
also one of the parts he played
in our spring play. In this skit
he played a boisterous tree
who kept interfering with the,
classic story, Little Red Riding
Hood, or Little Red Riding Hood
and the Beautiful Tree. I was
unable to get the back story of
every chalked image in the
quad but if you are wondering
why there is a Choco Boy picture, it is his favorite candy and
he once took every box off a
store shelf, yes every single
box, and bought them all for
$50. He kept them in his closet for a while until they were
finally finished off by him and
his friends. You may not get
the queso picture as well, but
Christian Mosongolies, one of
Monroy's best friends, had got
a zebra piñata named queso
filled with string queso, or
cheese for all of you gringos.
Monroy then wore the head
with his famous striped shirt
and was a sexy zebra. Many
more inside jokes and pictures
are written on our quad in
honor of Monroy. He will
forever remembered as well as
missed.

Things to do over Summer
By: Christian Diaz
Ever pondered what you’re
going to do over your summer
vacation? Well think no more.
Here is a list of awesome
things to do over break! If you
like to go swimming, check out
some of the local swimming
holes on the Yuba River. If
you’re a student going into any
AP courses in the fall, don’t for
get to do that summer reading.
When it gets to hot to be outside, head to Cinemark in Yuba
City to see a summer blockbuster or maybe hit up Nu
Generation Lanes to through a
few gutter balls. Perhaps you
could try to get back into your
parents good graces by doing
some summer projects around
the house. How about making a
little extra cash? Gotta watch out
because believe it or not you
need a license to sell lemonade.
Crazy Right? Get your dog out
of the house and take him or her
for a walk. Are you an athletic
type of person? You can exercise
at a local gym, play some basketball at a park, or if you like to
play organized sports, football
holds summer conditioning
Monday through Friday, usually
starting the week after we get off
of school! The possibilities for
summer vacation are endless.
The number one rule: Have
some fun!

International Fun at Work Day
By: Morgan Stieger
This creative and wacky day is on
April 1st. While many recognize April
1st as a day to play pranks on unsuspecting friends and family, it is also
International Fun at Work Day. This
day was designed for people who have
boring jobs to get involved and have a
little fun. Although your job should
be entertaining and exciting by nature,
many people feel stagnant and unfulfilled. Your work should provide you
with some sort of intrinsic satisfaction
but if it doesn’t then this day is for
you! Perhaps your didn’t get to choose
where you work and are currently
just trying to make ends meet until a
better opportunity comes along.
This day was made just for those
people who need a little pick me up
or added enthusiasm to their work
environment. Fun at Work Day is
intended to help you make a fool of
yourself. Maybe you will dress up
silly or pull pranks on people or just
blast music and dance along. Whatever you choose to do on this day
just make sure it is spectacular and
that you have a great day. Interna-
tional Fun at Work Day is the perfect
day to bring out your wild side.

Irresponsible Father Causes Toddlers Death
By: Kiley Gray
On Tuesday, James Koryor, a 41
year-old father, left his toddler son in
a hot car during heavy day of drinking says the police. He was arrested
on manslaughter and child abuse
charges. Detectives found that
James took his 2 year old son to the
liquor store and bought a bottle of
gin. On the way home he drank it,
and then fell asleep in the house, leaving the child in the car. Detectives
found signs of struggling from the
child before dying. A $50,000 bond
was set on him and the prosecutors
argued for a higher bail saying,
"Koryor has extensive ties to Liberia,
Ivory Coast, and Ghana and could
flee." The Judge said that he couldn't
have any alcohol or be around it anymore during the time he posts bond.
Sgt. Trent Crump said that the 5 yearold was found by his mother, unconscious in the backseat of the car. He
was taken to the hospital but did not
survive. The death occurred in the
Phoenix area in 90 degree weather.

Places to Visit over Summer
By: Ramneek Sanghera
There are many amazing places
to visit over summer in California. It is just a matter of finding
them. One site you could possibly visit is the Joshua Tree National Park in San Bernardino
County/Riverside County. There
are many spectacular granite formations and unique desert plants.
It has about 1.2 million visitors
annually. Many people enjoy
visiting the Hidden Valley, a
recreation center concealed
by huge boulders. It has a
surreal landscape of jumbled
rocks and pinyon pines with
a brilliant evening sky.
Park. In 1925, Charles E. Lee
successfully petitioned President
Coolidge to have the giant sequoia designated as the nations
Christmas tree. The General
Grant Tree has no tinsel or
lights; it has merely stood for
2,000 years. In 1956, it also became the nation’s only living
national shrine.
However, if you aren’t a very

Hope within Hopelessness

An angel broken is sitting alone,
His eyes a vivid blue, now tarnished gray,
Bent and broken, his pride now forlorn
Just a memory of a better day.
A demon woken, a town set ablaze,
Heaven’s soldiers fighting for our own lives,
A being of hate, anger fills his gaze,
Awaken the hero, he opens his eyes.
Awaken his spirit, allow him to breathe,
He lifts the sword holy and dons his shield,
The angel healed, evil takes a forced leave,
Truly a fearsome power, one that won’t yield.
Demons and angels, their powers contained,
Existing in the mind, within our own brains.
outdoorsy person there are
still many great places to
visit such as the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. It
is a public observatory located on Mount Hollywood in
Griffith Park. The observatory offers a planetarium, exhibits, public telescopes, a
cafe, a bookstore, and some
of the best views of the Los
Angeles basin. You are offered an interactive experience with the universe It

some of the amazing places
you could visit over summer.
