hen you think about Easter, what
do you think about? Do you think
about candy or Easter eggs? What
about Jesus? Maybe you know why we celebrate
Easter. Do you know what celebrate means?
When we celebrate something, we are happy and
excited. There’s something happening that’s really
cool. When we celebrate Easter, we’re excited
because Easter is the day we remember that Jesus
rose again from the dead! It’s kind of like how
Christmas is the day we remember Jesus’ birth.
On Good Friday, Jesus died on the cross to save
us from our sins. But He then had to come alive
again. He came alive again on Easter!
Have your parent or Sparks® leader help you
look up these verses in a Bible – 1 Corinthians
15:3-4. If you haven’t already, you’ll learn
1 Corinthians 15:4 in your handbook. The
Bible tells us that Jesus died and rose again!
We KNOW it’s true because God told us in
His Word – the Bible.
When Easter Sunday comes this year, it’s
OK to be excited about candy and Easter
eggs – but make sure you don’t forget why
we celebrate Easter. Tell your parent or your
Sparks leader why we celebrate Easter. Tell
them what celebrate means too!

CRAFT
This year we celebrate
Easter on April 5. This is a
craft to do the week before
Easter. Be sure to have
your parents help you.
YOU’LL NEED:
• Construction paper
• Crayons
• Stickers
On the Sunday before
Easter (Palm Sunday),
do this: Take a piece of
construction paper and
draw a picture of a cross.
At the top of the paper
write, Thank You, Jesus!
On Monday, take a sticker
and put it on the cross and
say one sin that you have
done – maybe you hit your
sister or told your mom you
cleaned your room when you
didn’t. Thank Jesus for dying

on the cross to save you
from your sin. On Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
and Saturday, do the same
thing. On Easter morning look
at all the stickers on your
cross. We all sin and those
stickers show our sin. Thank
Jesus for saving you from
your sin and rip the paper
in half. Jesus died and came
alive again to save us from
our sin!
