AMORYN ENGEL
‘G
irls just want to have fun!”
was the collective battle-cry
heard from the Evergreen
Brickworks as more than 600 ladies
gathered for the sixth annual Smut
Soirée presented by The Society and
Lainey Gossip.
The beautifully appointed, openair venue surrounded by a lush ravine
provided the perfect backdrop for the
colourful crowd, who were coiffed,
super-styled and ready to gossip — or
at least hear all about the latest Hollywood headlines!
Can you imagine? An event wholly
geared to gossip, and the ladies
couldn’t have been more excited to
get it first-hand from A-list insider
and media personality herself, Elaine
“Lainey” Lui.
Leading up to the main event, after
having walked the red carpet where
each guest had to strike a pose, there
was a fabulously fun cocktail hour
that included hair touch-ups, tips and
tricks at the John Frieda Style Hair
Lounge, lips galore at the Rimmel
Beauty Bar and Mini Makeovers at The
Aquafina Plus+ Vitamins Spa. Then it
was time to have a seat and hear what
People and Us magazine don’t tell us.
“Each year we are amazed at how
the event continues to grow, with
tickets selling out in less than three
days. Clearly there is a bottomless appetite for celebrity smut,” enthused
Ashleigh Dempster and Amanda
Blakley, co-founders of The Society.
I wondered why everyone looked
so incredibly glam — it may have had
something to do with the SMUT Style
Award, as decided by B-Insider style
expert Christopher Sherman and
Lainey’s Star Style columnist Sasha
Tong. The best dressed nod went to
Ela Kowalewska, who won a $2,000
shopping spree from the Bay. It certainly does pay to look good.
The only thing missing at this event?
The boys! These gals looked incredible
and not a gent in sight — other than
the buff staff, of course. A portion of
the proceeds went to benefit outstanding organizations dedicated to sustainability and eco-responsibility.
