create prints with plastic
use a piece of plastic like binder page protectors or freezer bags as a substrate for printmaking and creating acrylic skins

place a small dot of Golden Fluid acrylic and paint
circles on plastic page protector using a small flat brush

paint circles using Golden High Flow bottle over
painted circles

pour dots of paint from Golden High Flow bottle

place a piece of Strathmore Printmaking paper over
the wet paint, lightly rub back of paper to transfer print

print revealed

spray water over paint and take another print. notice
the watercolor look in the print

taking prints + acrylic skins
build layers on plastic to create colorful acrylic skins

add sgraffito by drawing circles into wet paint to
create textured lines.

take another print. this paper had black gesso
lines painted on it prior to taking print.

add more Golden High Flow paint onto plastic
page protector.

sprinkle ultra fine glitter into wet paint. set aside to
dry. then cover with extra heavy gel medium matte

draw more dimensional lines with Dina Wakley
paint with fine tip attachment.
draw circles with Tulip dimensional paint into the
wet paint on the page protector.

dimensional paint prints
printing with paint
use a plastic page protector as the printmaking substrate to create monoprints

roll out 2-3 Golden Fluid acrylics onto plastic page
protector using a soft rubber brayer

scribble and doodle into the wet paint with
dimensional paint

Place a piece of Strathmore Printmaking paper
over the wet paint, rub lightly to transfer print.

clean off brayer by placing a paper mask over a
printed background and roll brayer over top

remove stencil to reveal print
6
continue to print paper mask over the painted
background

use stencils and stamps to create textured acrylic skins

create new acrylic skin by drizzling lines of Golden
High Flow onto plastic

tilt plastic sheet up to help paint spread across the
surface

while paint is wet, place a piece of Strathmore
printmaking paper over the stencil to transfer print
Spray a little colored spray ink or water to spread the
paint

place a stencil over the top then use a foam brayer
to paint through stencil

print revealed

drizzle more paint onto the plastic surface
brush acrylic paint onto handmade foam stamp

sprinkle Ice Resin Iced Enamels Inclusions or glitter
over wet paint

print stamp onto plastic surface. repeat to create a
pattern on the plastic

acrylic skin revealed. set aside to dry.

finishing acrylic skin
use heavy gel medium to create a thick acrylic skin

apply Golden Extra Heavy Gel Medium over dry acrylic
skin. any gel medium or Collage Pauge can be used.

use a trowel palette knife to spread gel medium across
the surface
3
continue to cover the entire background with gel
medium.

add more texture by pressing foam stamps into wet
gel medium.

once the skins are dry, carefully peel them from the
plastic. cut acrylic skin into shapes and adhere them
to canvas with more gel medium.
5
acrylic skin prints revealed. set aside to dry. takes
between 2-24 hours to dry depending on how
much gel medium and paint is used.
