What’s New at FIS
Brown Bag Session Bitcoin &
SEPA Insta payments at
FIS C2PI
Rahul Tyagi and Om Prakash started the interactive session on Bitcoins. Bitcoins is an emerging area of payments which
allows transfer of value on a peer to peer basis without the need for any trusted intermediary or central Authority. Bitcoin is
open- source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique
properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system. This emerging area in
payments was explained to the participants. The audience found the topic engaging and participated actively in the
interactive session.
Gursharan Singh and Mohit Tyagi were able to build on the enthusiasm of the audience by further discussing the topic SEPA
Insta Payments. Instant payments help to focus the attention not only from the perspective that retail payments are the “next
deliverable” after SEPA migration, but also that there is an increasing need for a pan European payments scheme that is
available 24*7*365 resulting in the immediate or close to immediate interbank clearing of the transactions irrespective of the
underlying payment instrument or clearing and settlement mechanism.
Keeping this important fact in mind, the topic for the session was chosen as SEPA Insta payments scheme.
The following topics were covered in the session:
-
What are Instant Payments
Current Landscape
SCT Instant Scheme Design Proposal (EPC)
Proposed key features of SCT Instant Scheme (SCT Rulebook, R-transactions, Message Flow)
Challenges (Settlement risk management, performance requirements)
SCT Inst Rulebook and Implementation Guidelines release dates

Employee Connect
In conversation with
Shailendra Yadav at FIS C2PI
In continuation to our efforts to increase Leadership Connect, we had another interactive and interesting session with Shailendra Yadav on 14th Jan, 2016. The
session was attended by 22 employees randomly selected from the list of self-nominated employees. The agenda of the meeting was to give employees an
opportunity of having a free-flowing conversation with a Senior Leader, get to know him better as a person and ask random questions.
The meeting began with Shailendra giving the participants a brief about his career and his work experience prior to joining FIS C2PI,and details about his family .He cited
examples from experience on how he juggled to deal with critical projects, client requirements and meet deadlines simultaneously. He took several questions from the
audience. He also shared some insights on “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” training program he had attended and some takeaways from the same. He spoke
about the impor tance of creating win-win situations and how good listening skills can help one deal with the most complicated situations. Then he spoke about his passion
for sports and the two games he loves most are badminton and squash.
The entire session was motivating and interesting for the audience. In response to the enthusiastic questions from the participants, the conversation moved to topics like
growth of the banking domain / sector, the importance of being certified, how old technologies become redundant and therefor it is important to keep abreast of new
technologies to stay in the game.
Overall, it was an enthralling
and thoroughly enjoyable
1.5 hour session for all the
participants.

FIS Mumbai participates
in Powai Run Marathon
Team FIS participated in the Powai Run on Sunday 3rd January 2016. About sixty five employees volunteered to participate in this
much awaited event and participated in the 4km run.
On the morning of 3rd Jan the volunteers congregated at the starting point. They were wearing the FIS T-shirts which were given to
each of them. The air was buzzing with excitement as a lot of event had been planned for the morning. There was a band playing and
dancers were demonstrating steps that the audience had to follow. The huge audience could be seen copying the steps and swaying
to the music.
There were stilt walkers and in some areas the children had taken over the streets and were drawing on the roads since all vehicles
were off the roads. There was a fun fair kind of atmosphere!
As the race kicked off, participants could be seen walking, running and sprinting! There were cheers from the audience which egged
the runners to do their best. At the Finish point there were drummers to welcome those finishing the race with music and dance.
Most of our employees completed the run in an average time of 30 mins. Each participant was awarded a completion medal. Here
are the names of our top three employees who completed the run in the minimum time:

F-5 Refresh at Chennai
On 28th and 29th December, employees at
Guindy and Ambit locations celebrated the F5
Refresh which is a refreshing way to end the
year with the five F’s – fun, frolic, food, fund
raining and festivity!
The Food Carnival started at 3:30 PM, with
delicacies ranging from Vietnamese mutton
kheema rolls to stuffed eggs, red velvet cakes,
oat muffins, beach special sundal, dahi papdi
chats, carrot halwa, fruit salad and nimbu
paani. Overall, it was a treat for all the five
senses with the vibrant colors, pulsating aroma
and delicious taste!!
All the participants enjoyed the food and
enthusiastically moved to the fund raising
event.
The Game Carnival started next and it was
time for employees to tune in to the child
within. They could operate a remote controlled
Humvee across obstacles, play PS4, dunk a
basketball, untangle jumbled words or bounce
balloons in the air for a minute. All the games
were creative and fun to play!
This was a fantastic end to the year and the
response from the employees was
overwhelming.

FIS Gives Back
Post Flood Assistance and
Vaccination – Chennai
Flood Relief efforts at Chennai continued into the month of January and sanitary
items and TT vaccinations were given to intellectually challenged children from
Hope Public Charitable trust; Household and stationery items were given to
children from Maega Trust .
We take this opportunity to applaud Aamir Ansari who is a Trainer Team Coach
working for Tesco Mobile for his unselfish act in helping someone needy.
Over and Above the Call
of Duty - Gurgaon
On the night of 30th January, Amir who lives at Palam, New Delhi, left his house at
about 9pm to have a cup of tea. He noticed an old man lying on the road, shivering in
the biting cold. A couple of young men were abusing him and trying to shoo him
away.
Initially, Amir thought that the man was drunk and was creating a nuisance and therefore the others wanted him to go away.
But on looking more closely he realized that one of the young men was a food cart vendor and wanted him to leave since he felt
that the old man’s presence acted as a deterrent for his customers and therefore was affecting his business. Suddenly the vendor
threw a bucket of cold water at the old man and the old man started shivering uncontrollably and cried out in pain!
Amir intervened at this point and stopped the vendor. He tried speaking to the old man to find out who the old man was and
where he lived, about his family, etc. But the old man only kept repeating “Bahut maara hai mujhe” (they have beaten me
mercilessly) and this was evident from his bruises.
Aamir felt moved by the pain of the old man and wanted to help him. He tried calling a PCR, the ambulance, an NGO he
could find on Google… anyone who could help him. But no help was forthcoming. After about an hour of making frantic phone
calls, he managed to get in touch with a PCR, only to hear that they would only drop the old man to the nearest hospital and
nothing else. Aamir wasn’t happy with this arrangement because he wasn’t sure of the care the poor man would get at a
government hospital when there was no one to support him. So he continued looking for other options and finally someone
informed Amir about the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board.
He uploaded a picture of the injured old man on their App and within a few
minutes he got a call from them asking about his whereabouts so that they
could send some help! It took an hour for them to arrive and Amir refused to
leave the man alone till he wasn’t sure the man was in safe hands. Only when
he knew the man was in safe hands did he return home, happy that he was
able to make a difference in the life of the old helpless man!
In our daily lives we all see so many poor and homeless adults and children
but rarely do we even stop to think of their plight, forget about stopping to
help them. But such selfless acts of kindness reaffirm our faith in humanity.
Amir has truly lived the FIS value of giving back to society. Amir participates
actively in all FIS CSR events and is also a member of the newly formed Team
FIS – Social Consciousness.
Amir, we salute your spirit!
