We hope you have an excellent visit! The WHO’S NEXT PRÊT-À-PORTER PARIS team. -3- - THE FFC’S ROLE - The French shoe industry is made up of over 100 stakeholders producing a turnover of roughly €860m. Despite the slowing of the global economy we have seen over the last two years, French labels have kept up their efforts to develop their international presence, both on a downstream and upstream level. These efforts are most evident in the dynamic evolution of French exports: a 44% increase in turnover from 2009 to 2012. Fashion, creativity, savoir-faire, quality and responsiveness are the assets that French labels can rely on. Another strong point of the French shoe industry is its diversity. Companies work on almost all ranges of products, no matter what the product type, market segment, production techniques or materials used. In the world of luxury shoes and in niche markets, the industry players have completely mastered their production equipment, and have invested in distribution networks in France and on an international level. REPRESENTING THE PROFESSION AND DEFENDING ITS INTERESTS Using the strength of lobbying and communications, the FFC takes action at the highest level to make the profession’s voice heard, and to support its ambitions in France, Europe, and the rest of the world. Here are its missions: liable tools and services in order to share its in-depth knowledge of the sector with businesses, and to support them in their marketing process. This includes observation and analysis of conditions, undertaking devoted studies, qualitative studies on consumer behaviour, groups working to develop adapted products (an ADOCS project for the older markets). ON A NATIONAL LEVEL • Being the ambassador for the profession to government bodies in order to affirm the special features of the sector and to assert its interests. • Maintaining a permanent dialogue with the sector’s businesses, developing partnership policies with all concerned stakeholders, within and outside the industry. • Being a creative force in different partner organisations and institutions. INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Reinforcing the international competitiveness of the sector and supporting businesses in their export projects: this mission is a priority. The FFC takes action by organising collective action in strategic markets. From Russia to Canada, passing by every metropolis with its own trade show, the FFC creates made-to-measure services: reserving trade show stands, organising meetings with local prospects, promoting French businesses... There have been many great business success stories. ON A EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL LEVEL • Defending the shoe industry’s interests in European negotiations, in direct contact with the European Commission. • Promoting French positions in the European Confederation of Shoe Retailers (CEDDEC). • Anticipating European regulations in order to allow the French industry to prepare. • Drive access to export markets as part of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). PROMOTION AND COMMUNICATION Since 2005 the FFC has been working to energise the image of French shoes in national and international markets. Events are organised every year, most recently in Galeries Lafayette in Paris and in Berlin, for the general public and/or the press. Other communication actions are undertaken in order to reassert the value of the industry’s image to young people, and make their work known. The FFC also plays a sponsorship role, becoming a buyer of old pieces from French shoes designers, and supporting artistic projects linked with shoes. This year, as well as a public exhibition entitled ““La Chaussure, une passion française, Création & Innovation depuis 150 ans” (‘Shoes: a French Passion, 150 Years of Creation and Innovation”), the FFC is innovating by opening its Facebook page, organising a collective symbol, “French Signature”, for its members. Also created by the FEDERATION FRANÇAISE DE LA CHAUSSURE, AU DELA DU CUIR – an association which supports and guides young entrepreneurs in the shoe industry, guarantees monitoring of development, marketing and communications, and puts these entrepreneurs in contact with partner ateliers capable of crafting all, or part, of their collections. INFORMING, INITIATING COLLECTIVE PROJECTS, PROMOTING In addition to its traditional missions, the FFC wants to take action to reassert the value of French products, and support the competitiveness of companies in France, Europe and the world. These are the actions they take: SOCIAL AND LEGAL From negotiations in the sector to information personalised for the businesses, the FFC puts its legal and social expertise to the service of the profession and all of its members. INNOVATION AND PROCESSES In collaboration with the CTC (Comité Professionnel de Développement Cuir Chaussure Maroquinerie), the FFC advises businesses on technical matters, standards and regulations, product developments and trends, and encourages innovative work. www.chaussuredefrance.com Find French Signature on Facebook RESEARCH AND MARKETING With a privileged vantage point on the current goings on and evolution of the market, the FFC develops re-4- -5- ANNABEL WINSHIP AZUREE APOLOGIE PREMIERE CLASSE PREMIERE CLASSE ATELIER VOISIN WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES PREMIERE CLASSE “An Annabel Winship customer is a woman who smiles when she looks at her feet,” Annabel likes to say. The most British of all French designers launched her first collection in 2007, and she retains the discrete eccentricity of her British roots. Colour, humour, poetry and a distinct partialness for Liberty prints and Union Jack patterns help make up the label’s identity. In 2011 Annabel Winship opened her own boutique in the heart of Saint-Germain-desPrés in Paris. As inspired by Renaissance cabinets of curiosities as by delicious sugary patisseries, the young label Apologie boasts a quirky, cultivated and curious spirit. “Babies” with three sequinned straps, 10cm heels in gingham - the label has its own style. Apologie is supported by the association Au-Delà du Cuir, which supports designers and businesses in the leather sector. The Cannes company Azurée speaks to women with its elegance, sophistication and sensuality – the foundations of the label. Introduced at the end of the 1980s, the “Cristal” designs combine vinyl, silkscreen printing and leather, and have become the trademark of the label and the point of reference when it comes to transparent footwear in France and Europe. French elegance is manifested in certain production secrets, guarded by just a few small ateliers. The label’s style is easily recognisable in the highheeled concoction which leaves women far from indifferent... www.atelier-voisin.com www.azuree.fr www.apologie-paris.com www.annabelwinship.com -6- -7- AZZARO / KOST BAGLLERINA WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES Behind these labels is Manufacture Cléon, the company from the Pays de la Loire renowned for its expertise in materials for both men’s and women’s shoes. The result of the company’s tradition and savoir-faire, Azzaro and Kost’s men’s collections highlight sophistication and details. Since the 1970s Azzaro has produced chic and sensual shoes, fashioned according to the artistic rules and pure sewing heritage of the Italian, Loris Azzaro. Started in 2009, the label Kost combines laid-back elegance and trends. Maunufacture Cléon, created in 1946, employs 70 individuals, and also manages its own labels and its Redskins licence. Bagllerina creates comfortable and elegant ballerina flats which fold into a matching bag, then into your handbag or suitcase. Suitable for all occasions, Bagllerina’s flats accompany women in their everyday life and in their travels. Bagllerina’s shoes are available in EU sizes 35 to 43, in leather, satin or neoprene. The latest addition, the Acquafeet line in neoprene with a non-slip rubber sole, is designed to be water-resistant and give you complete peace of mind at the pool. www.bagllerina.com HIRICA BOSABO WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES PREMIERE CLASSE Carried by the worldwide success of its loafers and famous little ballerina flats (available in 20 different styles and more than 160 colours), Hirica’s speciality is creating supple shoes, and well-being is its priority. With over 100 years of experience, this label from Landes marries comfort and trends, responding to the demands of a clientele of all ages. The collection is produced in the company’s own ateliers in Saint-Vincent de Tyrosse, and is sold in 800 retailers in France and over 1000 internationally. Situated in the Nantes region of France, the company Audouin has existed since 1890. All of their production is undertaken in their ateliers in France. The label Bosabo offers collections of highend and unusual clogs, sandals, shoes and boots. Created using artisan techniques and in natural materials, the collections are based on the richness and nature of the founding principles of simplicity and authenticity. www.bosabo.com www.hirica.fr www.azzaroparis.com - www.kostparis.com -8- -9- LO.E. ACCESSOIRES K BY KARSTON LA MAISON DE L’ESPADRILLE / D’CHICAS / GOES CONFORT WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES LONESOME DETAIL WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES K by Karston is an all new French shoe label dedicated to city-dwelling women in search of dressed-up pieces. The label was created by Alexandre Chupin, the current owner, who wanted to market a line which was accessible, but also chic, original and dynamic. The products are 100% made in France, from design to production, in the heart of the Pays de la Loire. Traditional or jazzed-up, the label creates espadrilles in all varieties with the utmost respect for tradition. Hand-sewn, with cotton uppers and jute soles, the collection is produced in the company’s ateliers in the south-west of France. www.kbyk.fr - 10 - A new arrival, LO.E. Accessoires was born of the desire of its creator, Lauren Eboli, to create an uncluttered collection; after all, the beauty of a collection is often in just one detail. Following their first Winter 2013 collection, the Summer 2014 collection adopts the same colour for the lining of the sole. And that is yellow. Using a resolutely graphic style, the label’s guiding principle, the range is composed of 17 models produced in a range of precise colours, often combined to create two- or three-tone pieces. Elegant laid-back style. The pieces (for him and for her) are in line with current trends but are distinguished by detail: this is how the young duo, Adrien and Julien, like to present their label. Scarcely a few months after its launch, Lonesome Detail has found its audience: casual and refined. - 11 - www.lonesomedetail.com MAURICE MANUFACTURE LUNDI BLEU / PARADOXALE MEDUSE PARABOOT WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES 1946: the birth of the original Méduse shoe, the famous plastic beach sandal. In the five decades that followed, the shoe would become synonymous with summer holidays. Who doesn’t have a holiday memory of wearing Méduse jelly shoes? 2013: today Méduse sandals aren’t just for the beach, but for the town, too, in summer or winter. The collection has expanded with a complete range of ankle boots, shoe boots and long boots for winter, and a collection of sandals and ballerina flats for summer. The shoes are made of phtalate-free PVC and are 100% recyclable. A family business created over 100 years ago, Richard Pontvert, a company from Isère and the world leader in the Norwegian shoemaking technique, knows how to create a style that will never go out of fashion by adapting new trends. 150 employees contribute to the creation of the pieces, which requires almost 150 different steps, from Goodyear sewing to Norwegian technique to Blake stitching. The label is sold throughout the globe by 32 of the brand’s own boutiques and numerous other retailers. The Richard Pontvert company also owns the labels Galibier, for the mountains, and Parachoc, for administration and businesses. www.umo.fr www.paraboot.com WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES PREMIERE CLASSE The labels Lundi Bleu and Paradoxale are aimed at a clientele of active, urban women who are looking for comfort, elegance, classic lines and a touch of fantasy. These complementary collections are sold in boutiques and specialists across France. The company which markets these two labels, Plastigom, is based in Champagné in Sarthe, two hours from Paris. They employ 24 people on site. www.lundibleu.fr A heritage, a label, a style... The young label Maurice Manufacture is riding on the “made in France” wave and is flaunting its French savoir-faire in plain sight, the fruit of more than 60 years of experience. With a “newstalgic” uniqueness, Maurice Manufacture revisits old classics (brogues, boots, loafer, laceups) and has created a range of basics with quirky elegance, for confident, unfettered city-dwellers. The combination of style, traditional production techniques and sophisticated materials creates a feeling of exclusivity. www.mauricemanufacture.com - 12 - - 13 - - MAP OF THE SHOW - - MAP OF THE SHOW - WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES HALL 7.2 SHOE BUYERS’ LOUNGE HALL 7.2 MR & MRS BROWN ACCESSORIES Throughout the trade show the FEDERATION FRANÇAISE DE LA CHAUSSURE and WHO’S NEXT PRÊT-À-PORTER PARIS teams will be on hand to welcome you in this dedicated area. Red Carpet’s insoles are sexy luxury and glamour especially designed to relieve the balls of your feet, an aspect very sought-after in high heels. “Complete insoles” for closed shoes, “open-toe insoles” for open-toe shoes, “half-insoles” for open shoes: an answer for each type of shoe. Red Carpet make a strong case for French production. For the third year, the label is partnered with the red carpet stars’ stilettos at the Cannes Film Festival. Moving from a high-heel to flats, or vice versa, without changing shoes; it’s possible! In a simple click the interchangeable heels of Tanya Heath’s shoes can adapt to your everyday life and a moment’s whim. Each shoe can be worn with three different heels; two high-heels (one thick and one stiletto) and one flat heel. They are 100% made in France. Tanya Heath is supported by the association Au-Delà du Cuir, which supports designers and businesses in the leather sector. www.redcarpet-paris.com www.tanyaheath.com - 16 - ZESPÀ, AIX-EN-PROVENCE VINCENT BOTTESI PREMIERE CLASSE PREMIERE CLASSE With a spark of pure madness but plenty of conviction, Vincent Bottesi is boldly contributing to the re-launch of high-end design from the French town Romans. For this young designer, who was the winner of the 2012 Who’s Next competition, 2013 signals him going from strength to strength with the launching of his production workshop, Pôle Cuir, which will undertake the production of his own collection and create prototypes of designer shoes. Zespà reinvents the traditional espadrille as a fashion accessory. This bet paid off for the young label from Aix-en-Provence, which is proud to produce its pieces in historical French ateliers with unique savoir-faire. The label’s flagship material, their washed lamb leather, is selected from the best leatherwear in France. This season Zespà has developed a capsule collection of printed leather in collaboration with Maison Carven, on sale in Colette in Paris and Opening Ceremony in Tokyo. www.vincentbottesi.com www.zespa.fr - 17 - ATELIER MERCADAL (FRANCE) ASH PREMIERE CLASSE (ITALY) (SPAIN) (FRANCE) PREMIERE CLASSE MR & MRS BROWN ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES Resolutely rock with punk accents – from animal prints (cobra, python, leopard, tiger) to touches of neon and natural and neutral colours – the collection is wild and rebellious. Second-skin low boots, studs and fringing decorate a cheeky, urban and feminine style. www.ashitalia.com CHIE MIHARA BOBBIES Alive with passion for accessories and a taste for shoes, Marie-Laure Mercadal created Atelier Mercadal. The label creates an understated, feminine, elegant style, smart-casual, with one aim: to embellish women. Three years ago InèsOlympe Mercadal joined her mother and created a parallel collection, Mercadal Vintage. The collection reflects her own style: classic, quirky, rock ‘n’ roll. Together, but with different worlds, they perpetuate the artisan savoir-faire of their family-run fashion house. In summer as in winter, Bobbies is an invitation for a break and for good times. It all started in 2010 when two young Parisians, Antoine and Alexis, decided to modernise and democratise the iconic loafer. Today Bobbies continues to reinvent the classics with their quirky twist, and gives a new lease of life to desert boots, ankle boots, ballerina flats, slippers and of course, as always, the iconic driving shoe. The label’s concept? Design, comfort and quality! Chie Mihara refrains from following trends too closely; the label is, instead, designed to offer and share something else, a state of mind, a favourite piece, a feeling. Giving a little bit of happiness with their creations is Chie Mihara’s aim. And their magic works. www.bobbies.fr www.chiemihara.com www.atelier-mercadal.fr - 18 - - 19 - GEORGE’S HAND MADE ELODIE BRUNO (SPAIN) (FRANCE) WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES PREMIERE CLASSE MELLOW YELLOW MAISON DE FOUS (FRANCE) (SPAIN) WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES MR & MRS BROWN ACCESSORIES Soon your feet will be in Zells, Elodie Bruno promises you that! The designer brings the dance slipper back into fashion with her reinterpretation of this classic. The Zell – a unisex shoe for the whole family – is available in various materials. The designs naturally take on a new form throughout the seasons, hanging on one, sole desire: to take off. George’s Hand Made revisits the classics in men’s and women’s footwear. The label’s shoes are artisanal, sewn and produced on the island of Mallorca, according to a unique, ancestral savoirfaire. One of the inspirations for the Summer 2014 collection was “colonial” spirit, using aged canvas and linen on classic models (desert boots, loafers, brogues, army boots), mixing them with light leathers and coloured calf suede. www.elodie-bruno.fr Unexpected designs and details, never-before-seen fabrics, colour and material combinations, welcome to the quirky and multicoloured world of Maison de Fous. All of the ingredients are gathered together to hoist the Spanish label to the forefront of men’s shoes. A red borrowed from the petals of a poppy; a yellow even lighter than that of a pansy; a lively, gourmet mint green; a pinch of gold glitter. Add a few low retro heels, a dash of thick soles, the zest of some stripes. Top it all with some natural caramelcoloured leather and plunge into velvet. Enjoy immediately. www.maisondefous.com www.mellowyellow.fr www.georges-shoes.com - 20 - - 21 - PALLADIUM (FRANCE) MUGNAI (ITALY) WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES WHO’S NEXT ACCESSORIES (FRANCE) (FRANCE) MR & MRS BROWN ACCESSORIES PREMIERE CLASSE Each collection, each piece, is the fruit of the labours of master Italian craftsmen, calling on authentic, artisanal techniques passed down through their families, which the label keeps a secret. Positioned as a mid- to high-end range, Mugnai has a selective distribution network. The label’s notoriety is reinforced by important advertising campaigns and the recent opening of a showroom in Milan. www.mugnai.eu SPRING COURT PATRICIA BLANCHET The company Palladium, created in 1920, used to produce aeroplane tyres. They developed a unique industrial process: vulcanising rubber and canvas. In 1947, bolstered by their experience, Palladium opened a factory at Pont de Cheruy in Isère, and has produced shoes using the same process ever since. Their shoes have proven to be as solid as tyres while still combining practicality and comfort. Palladium shoes have always been, and will always be, resistant, and appreciated by adventurers the world over for their authentic design. This young French designer is making women’s feet sparkle and is charming the pavements. Dots, bows, sequins and peppy colours, her on-trend shoes are inspired by the party world and delight fashionistas. The brand’s latest news is the recent opening of their first very own boutique, in Paris, in the 10th arrondissement. www.facebook.com/Blanchet.Patricia It all started in 1936 with the launch of the legendary G2, especially designed for tennis. Quickly becoming a favourite on the courts, the Spring Court shoe became a legend and has continued for decades, thanks each season to new experiments with materials and finishing touches. The label is returning to its roots for summer 2014 with a line in the colours of the big international tournaments: ochre, green and blue, a nod to the courts of Paris, London and New York. www.springcourt.com www.palladium.fr - www.pldmshoes.com - 22 - - 23 - - EXHIBITORS LIST AT 13/05/2013 - UNITED NUDE (NETHERLANDS) VEJA PREMIERE CLASSE (FRANCE) MR & MRS BROWN ACCESSORIES It started with the “Mobius” shoe.
