abstract
The Paris Saint-Germain Fotofan app is one of the most recent
official mobile apps of the Paris Saint-Germain. In addition to
the existing second screen PSG Officiel app, this Fotofan app is
fully dedicated to the animation of the Parisian club fans. This
mobile solution is available worldwide for iOS and android
operating systems and on both smartphones and tablets.
Recently, the PSG has become one of the most powerful football
clubs at an international scale. Since then, amongst the best
players of the world have joined the Parisian team.
Those football stars have made the PSG’s renown grow stronger
in and outside France. Its fans community has thus not only
increased in number but got also more international.
In order, to reach and federate its growing supporters
community, the PSG chose to use the Fotofan solution for
their mobile strategy. With this solution developed by Netco
Sports, which capitalises on market-leading innovative photomodification features, the PSG provides their fans a platform of
engagement though enhanced and personalized content.

The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) is the mostsupported football club in France. Since 2011, the
Parisian club’s notoriety has grown throughout
the world. It ranks in the 10 first international
football teams according to the UEFA rankings.
An international range
Since then, the club has recruited players
amongst the best football international stars.
The PSG competes now with the best European
football team, and takes part into world-class
competitions such as the UEFA Champions
League.
Consequently, the number of its supporters has
considerably grown in and outside France. PSG is
one of the most widely supported French clubs
abroad.
Social innovation
In order to federate this growing fans community,
the PSG wanted to set up a new social tool. The
objective was to find an original way of making
those supporters interact and not only at the
stadium but everywhere and at anytime. That
way the reach could be borderless and the
community could engage also from abroad.
The Fotofan mobile solution
Mobility proved to be the best way to address
this objective, within an already well digitalized
community. The Fotofan mobile solution
encourages and accompanies a social sharing
phenomenon, based on photo-modification.
Fotofan integrates branded graphic elements so
that the fans can personalize their photos with
the club image. This customization to the PSG’s
colours helps the development of a viral, contentoriented community.

to their official existing app, so that they could
provide a dedicated platform for their fans
engagement. This mobile solution is available

advanced features. By bringing to the users a
new and fun tool to share photos with friends,
the app encourages virality inside the contentsharing community.
In the photo-editor, up to 12 different filters are
available to rework photos. In addition to the
filter effects, PSG fans have the possibility to use
predefined photos frames. They can also modify
or adjust the inclination of the picture.
A SAAS solution
Branded elements integration
The app allows users to rework photos that
already are in their device library. But they can
also take a new picture from the Fotofan app
and personalize it afterwards. The modifications
brought to the photos are instantly visible in the
app, so that the user can go back to its previous
state if he’s not satisfied with the result.
The key element in this photo-editor is the
possibility to integrate Paris Saint-Germain image
branded elements on the photo. Jerseys, socks,
full outfits, favorite players, fanions or slogans
are examples amongst the 45 PSG exclusive
items that the user can insert on his photo. This
really is the amusing part of the picture edition,
which gives true added value to the contentsharing feature.
Advanced settings
Going viral
First step is to center, zoom and crop the photo
itself in the editing zone. Once done, the user
accesses the photo-edition mode of the app.
Thanks to an intuitive navigation header, he can
easily return to this first step, or on the contrary
go forward to the next step.
Finally, the last step is the actual sharing of
the unique photo the user just has created on
Facebook, Twitter, or by mail. The user can also
decide so save his work to continue his creation
later.
A mobile photo-editor
Prebuilt #PSGFotofan hashtags ensure that all
fans are engaging in a social community. That
way, the Fotofan app allows to create a CRM of
the most passionate fans.
This solution powered by Necto Sports can
be taken either as a standalone app as for the
Paris Saint-Germain, but is also available as a
component, so that the brand can integrate it an
existing app as a dedicated module. It is available
on smartphones and tablets for both iOS and
android.

Offering the supporters an original way to design
and share their own personal PSG masterpiece
proved to be a really successful idea. Indeed, the
Paris Saint-Germain was the first club app ever
in France to reach the first position in the sports
category on the stores. It ranked 10 across all
categories in France.
Over 5 000 photos were shared in under 2 weeks.
The dedicated twitter hashtag created by the PSG
for their fans to share their masterpiece showed
that on average 5000 tweets were posted per
day. This solution reaches mainly the under 25s,
with 65% of average use.
The Fotofan solution, developed by Netco
Sports, can be implemented as a standalone
app. That was the case for the famous Brazilian
club Cruzeiro Esporte Clube or for LeTROT, the
French horse racing institution. But, it can also
be integrated as a component; as for the French
Football Federation, in the Les Bleus mobile app.
