Students must remain supervised by parents and/or legal chaperones (parents
are encouraged to watch debates)
Alcohol, tobacco, and controlled substances are zero tolerance Use of any can
result in immediate dismissal from the tournament and team
Bullying for any reason will not be tolerated and can result in immediate
dismissal from the tournament and team
Discrimination based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or any
other factor will not be tolerated and can result in immediate dismissal from
the tournament and team
Students must respect all tournament locations and hotels Destruction of
tournament, hotel, or restaurant property can result in immediate dismissal
from the tournament and team
Students must attend all tournaments they have signed-up for,
even if their partner cancels

Debaters must arrive at the tournament site 1 hour prior to the first scheduled
round or 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time for pairings to be released,
whichever is earliest
Debaters must attend all scheduled team dinners
Debaters are expected to have all evidence and cases printed prior to arriving at
the tournament or tournament hotel
Debaters must watch all elimination rounds until the last Capitol Debater is
done with competition
Parents must respect team strategy location

Transportation Information
Transportation has been arranged for Maryland students from Centennial High School up to the tournament at
Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, NY. This transportation will also take students to the tournament from the hotel
each day. The bus will depart Centennial High School on Friday, February 28th at 6:30am.
The bus will leave promptly at 6:30am and will leave late students behind - we cannot risk having students disqualified
even though they showed up for the bus at the appropriate time. The bus will return to Centennial High School on
Sunday, March 2nd. The bus is tentatively scheduled to arrive at Centennial at 6pm EST; however, this time will
fluctuate based on the success of our students in elimination rounds.
Students and parents not traveling from Maryland can purchase local transportation from the hotel to the tournament
on Saturday and Sunday.

Weather Policy
*As a norm, tournaments are not cancelled, no
matter the weather. All competitors are expected to
attend the tournament; however, please use your
discretion when it comes to the safety of winter
travel for your family. Refunds will not be given for
those that do not make the tournament.
