Currently, 150 fruit and ornamental plant introductions include azaleas, dogwoods, Frontenac wine grape, Haralson and Honeycrisp apples. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum was founded in 1958 by Lake Minnetonka Garden Club, Minneapolis Men’s and Women’s Garden Club, University of Minnesota, Minnesota State Horticultural Society and other community supporters. Andersen Horticultural Library and the Leon Snyder building opened in 1974. The Oswald Visitor Center, inspired by Edwin Lundie design, opened in 2005.
