He owns a career recor d of 237-123 as a collegiate head baseball coach. RIC was 10-25 overall and 2-12 (seventh place) in the Little East Conference in 2002. The Anchormen wer e 6-22 overall and 2-12 (eighth place) in the Little East Conference in his first season at the helm in 2001. Grenier, who hails from North Smithfield, was previously the Head Baseball Coach at the Community College of Rhode Island, a position he held from 1993-00. During his tenure as the Head Coach at CCRI, the Knights were a consistent regional power. He was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year in both 1994 and 1996. He was the Louisville Slugger Region 21 Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994 and 1996. Prior to taking the job at CCRI, Grenier was an assistant coach for the Knights from 1985-93. He began his coaching car eer as an assistant coach at Rhode Island College in 1981, a position he held through the 1985 season. He has also served the head coach of the Rhode Island Reds, a New England Collegiate Baseball League team. Grenier has also worked as a hitting coach for the Chatham A’s of the Cape Cod Baseball League and as an envoy coach to Jamaica with Major League Baseball International. In addition to his coaching duties, Grenier is a middle school language arts teacher for the city of Central Falls. He is also the owner and director of the Rhode Island Baseball Academy located in North Smithfield. He resides in North Smithfield, Rhode Island with his wife Debbie and their two children, Garrett and Chelsey. Assistant Coach Brad Bustin Brad Bustin enters his third year as an assistant baseball coach at Rhode Island College. He is the team’s pitching coach and also assists head coach Jay Grenier with all phases of the RIC baseball program. Bustin was an assistant under Grenier for five seasons at the Community College of Rhode Island from 1996-2000 where he was the Knights’ pitching coach. He was a pitcher/outfielder during his undergraduate days at Bridgewater State College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Bridgewater State in 1993. In addition to his coaching duties, Bustin teaches health and physical education in the Fall River (MA) school system. A native of Somerset, Massachusetts, Bustin is a 1989 graduate of Somerset High School. He resides in Fall River with his wife Traci and son Braydon (2). 7 Meet the Coaches Assistant Coach Marc Pantazis Marc Pantazis enters his third season as an assistant baseball coach. Pantazis assists head coach Jay Grenier with all phases of the RIC baseball program. He joined the staff after spending the 2000 season as an assistant coach at the University of Maine. He specializes in working with the team’s hitters and catchers. He was a catcher on the Black Bears baseball team for two seasons in 1998 and 1999. Prior to playing at Maine, Pantazis was a catcher for Grenier at the Community College of Rhode Island for two seasons in 1996 and 1997. He was part of the Knights squad that went to the Junior College World Series in 1997. Pantazis earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Maine in May 2000. He earned his associate’s degree in liberal arts from CCRI in May 1997. He is originally from Londonderry, New Hampshire and is a 1995 graduate of Londonderry High School.
