Prague (in Czech „Praha“), the capital of the Czech Republic, is
situated on the Vltava River. The capital has the largest number
of tourist attractions ranging from medieval buildings, museums
up to dozens of annual cultural and social events. Today Prague’s
population is of around 1.2 million inhabitants.
Prague was first settled in the ninth century by the Přemysl dynasty,
which remained in power for nearly 500 years. In the mid-fourteenth
century the Bohemian king and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV
founded Charles University in Prague. He was also responsible for
the construction of the renowned Charles Bridge spanning across
the Vltava River, a major tourist attraction. In 1526 the Hapsburgs
came to power in Prague, and not until the end of World War I and the
collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire did they relinquish control
of the city. In 1918 Prague became the capital of the newly formed
democratic republic of Czechoslovakia.
In 1968 a movement known as the Prague Spring attempted a
series of liberalizing reforms from within the government, only to be
crushed by the Warsaw Pact forces led by the Soviet Union. In 1989,
non-violent protests on Prague‘s Wenceslaus Square toppled the
Communist government in the Velvet Revolution (so named because
of the lack of bloodshed). The new democracy elected as its president
the prominent Czech playwright and philosopher Vaclav Havel, who
follows in a long tradition of Prague artists, including composer
Antonin Dvorak and writer Franz Kafka. In 1993 Czechoslovakia split
into two parts, with Prague remaining as the capital of the Czech
Republic.

cards including MC, Visa, Maestro, Cirrus, Plus Visa electron (and there are no reports of any
kind of trouble obtaining cash). If you wish to exchange money, first inquire about the rate of

Karlovy Vary - Karlovy Vary, also known by its German name, Carlsbad, is the most famous spa town in the Czech
Republic. King Charles IV discovered the thermal springs in 1358 when one of his hunting dogs was scalded by the
water. During the 19th century, the town was a favourite of wealthy Europeans. Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, and Peter the
Great were just a few of the famous personalities that enjoyed the healing waters. You can stroll along the colonnade
and sip from the springs as you take in the stunning Art Nouveau architecture that graces the facades of this wonderfully
restored town. You might also like to sample Becherovka here, as this is where the herbal liquor was invented in 1805.

What souvenir to buy?
Here are some tips. Crystal glass items, wooden toys,
jewellery (Czech garnets) are usually popular choices.
Puppets and marionettes are traditionally hand-carved
from wood or made from plaster and can be a good
choice for a souvenir too (puppet making goes back
to the 18th century). If you like liquors try Becherovka,
herbal liquor known to have medicinal properties (good
for digestion) is the most unique Czech most one. Czech
jewellery (produced by JABLONEX) is very famous, look
for bead jewellery, imitation pearls and strass jewelry.

Kutna Hora - The earliest record of
silver mining in Kutna Hora dates back to
the 13th century. At that time the „silver
rush“ began and the settlement of Kutna
Hora grew rapidly. The first written reference
to the town is from 1289. Originally, a group
of scattered miner‘s settlements, the site
became one of the most important cities in
the region after King Wenceslas II regulated
the mining industry by creating an official
code of laws pertaining to all aspects of
mining. In the 1305, the Czech Mint was
located in Kutna Hora. Today, this UNESCO
listed city, preserves the atmosphere of its rich
past with, historic buildings, narrow streets
and many reconstruction and restoration
projects. Popular sites include The Silver Mine
Museum, St. Barbara‘s Cathedral, and The
Stone Fountain in the historic town square.

Prague typical Dish and drinks
Although Czech cuisine is not exactly a synonym for healthy cooking
(tends to be high in calories, fat and sugar) you still should not miss
sampling some of the traditional dishes. The traditional Czech dish
is knedlo, vepro, zelo (roasted pork served with sauerkraut and
dumplings). Other classic dishes are svickova na smetane (sliced beef
sirloin served in a cream sauce with a garnish of cranberries and, of
course, dumplings), gulas (goulash served with dumplings and often

Tipping in Prague
Tips are generally expected only in restaurants. A tip
between 5%-15% is appropriate for a restaurant bill (some
restaurants indicate on menu that the final amount includes
a tip, don‘t tip twice) or for a taxi driver. For a hotel porter
tip 1 EURO per bag, for a tour guide a tip of 2-3 EURO is
sufficient.
garnished with onion slices), fruit filled dumplings or the apple strudel.
Czech meals are often accompanied by the national beverage, which
is of course beer. It is not just the fact that Czechs enjoy beer so
much but also a matter of price, a half-litre pint is cheaper than a
glass of soda or a cup of coffee. The best-known brands are Plzensky
Prazdroj (Pilsner Urquell) and Budejovicky Budvar (Budweiser), but
just as good are Gambrinus, Krusovice, Radegast, Velkopopovicky
kozel or Staropramen. In general, cerne pivo (dark beer) is sweet
while svetle pivo (a light, golden-colour beer) is bitter.

Safety, Precautions
A major risk for tourists is pick-pocketing and we recommend
watching your belongings at all times (especially at tourist
spots, while travelling on an overcrowded metro or tram).
Also good to know - never exchange money on the streets,
check the restaurant bill just to make sure you are paying for
what you ordered, and never take a taxi off the street or from
a rank in any of the main tourist areas (rather ask the hotel
to call one for you). Generally Prague is a safe, pleasant city
to explore on foot (not more dangerous than any other EU
destination). Prague has good standard of public hygiene,
tap water is drinkable but tastes unpleasantly chlorinated.
Includes a 2,5 hour cruise and live jazz music.
PRICE PER PERSON: 590 CZK / 19,50 GBP / 25 EUR
DAILY at 08:30 pm, finish at 11:00 pm
Spend an enjoyable evening on this cruise, have dinner
with us and be entertained by the live jazz music.
Always great musicians and always full band - trio, quartet,
sometimes even quintet. Forget about one keyboard-man show!
We don‘t put difficult contemporary jazz, there is mainly jazz
standards, some latin jazz and blues. Jazz specialists will not be
disappointed because of high quality of the musicians, and those
untouched by jazz will surely enjoy pleasant music and atmosphere.
Jazz Boat it is the only boat offering a la carte menu served at
your table, ingredients are fresh and the food great. Restaurant is
considered the best one among all other boats on the river.
Reservation is required. Please call Prague Airport Transfers or

Prague quarters – Old Town, Jewish Quarter, New Town, Lesser Town
and Prague Castle. It starts on the Old Town Square with a general

Bellevue Restaurant - Located close to the river, another
attraction of Bellevue are the good views of Charles Bridge
and across to Prague Castle. At night, the seats by the
window offer fine views of both these impressive sights.
While the menu is exquisite, offering wonderfully prepared
fresh fish, meat and sumptuous desserts, the wine list is
worth particular mention. For a tamer but extraordinary treat,
try the filet of fallow deer. Al dente pastas share a plate with
lobster-and-spinach purée, garlic and herbs, or tomatoes and
olives. The vegetables on the side are always fresh and never
overcooked. (close to underground station Staromestska

transportation. It is valid for 20 minutes from validation on
trams and buses or 5 stations on the underground, allowing

Day 1: Walk to Old Town Square, watch ‘must see’ Astronomical Clock and
visit beautiful Gothic Church of Our Lady Before Tyn or baroque St Nicholas
Church. From there head to Charles Bridge and take idyllic photos. Next is
to climb to the imposing Prague Castle, where St Vitus Cathedral, Golden
Lane and the Royal Garden await. If you are a bit tired of walking, you might
take a tram up to the hill and walk to the castle from the other side. When
you get hungry, make your way back to Malostranske square and have some
traditional Czech meal at of numerous pubs and restaurants.
Day 2: Second day is good for a ‘laid back’ exploring, leisurely walk along
the river. From Qld Town Sq. walk to the Josefov, visit Jewish museum, have
a coffee at kavarna Slavia or at Imperial Café. Afternoon do some shopping
around Wenceslas Square. If you like classic music you might devout your
evening for some concert at the Rudolfinum, or have a few pints of Czech
world famous beer at U Pinkasu pub.
living behind the wall of the former Ghetto. Old-New Synagogue, Old
Jewish Cemetery, the Jewish Museum… visit with us the places where
the fabulous Golem was created and follow with us in the footsteps
of the famous Jewish writer Franz Kafka. Crooked lanes lead us back
around other keyholes into Prague’s past, the medieval courtyard
Ungelt, the Charles University since 1348, Mozart‘s Don Giovanni in
the Estates Theatre... The Wenceslas Square gives us a testimony of
1968 when the Soviet tanks arrived until the year 1989 when the Velvet
Revolution brought democracy again. Crossing the Charles Bridge,
the real “open gallery under the sky” we reach the great St.Nicholas
Church on the beguiling Lesser Town Square and then Prague Castle,
one of the biggest fortresses in Europe. This “city within the city” hides
the Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St.George, the presidential office,
the Golden Lane ... and the treasure of the architecture of the St.Vitus
Cathedral. The walk finishes with a charming view of Prague, the city
of a hundred spires. It is really easy to walk, simple to understand and
great to enjoy!

When do I have to pay for the return transfer?
Please pay all at once when you arrive at your hotel. Our
chauffer will give you “a transport voucher” as a confirmation

in your confirmation email. When paying using your card, it can
be charged only in CZK.

Should I tip the driver?
If you are happy with the service then it is customary to tip

although please bear in mind that even a very small tip will keep
your driver extra happy :)
