The IR extension input and cable are only needed if the All Digital Device is out of direct line of sight of the remote control. LED LED Lights up green when power is on. Lights up red when in Stand-By Mode. Rear Panel 1.2 Rear Panel Cable In RF Input (Coax Cable) Connects the All Digital Device to a TV, VCR or receiver using a coax cable. CH3/CH4 Switch Selects TV Channel 3 or 4 as the output channel to your TV when the All Digital Device is connected using a coax cable from TV Out. All Digital Device 1 SMART CARD SLOT Insert the Smart Card into the rear of the All Digital device. Use only the Smart Card that was shipped in the same carton as the All Digital Device. HDMI Out HDMI Output (HDMI Cable) Connects All Digital Device to a high definition TV, VCR or receiver. AV Out Video Output (Mini-to-RCA Connectors) Video (Yellow), Right (Red) and Left (White) connect to a TV, VCR or receiver. TV Out RF Output (Coax Cable) Connects the All Digital Device to a TV, VCR or receiver using a coax cable. B Connect the wall cable source to CABLE IN on the All Digital Device. C Connect the All Digital Device to a VCR or other recording device. Depending on the make of a recording device, there are a variety of options to connect the All Digital Device. The All Digital Device can be connected to most recording devices using coaxial cable or by connecting the Mini-to-RCA connector to the video (yellow) and stereo audio (red and white) RCA inputs. D Connect the VCR or recording device to the TV. E Connect the AC Adaptor to the POWER input on the All Digital Device. Connect the AC Adaptor to a power outlet on the wall. Plug the IR Receiver cable into IR IN on the right side of the All Digital Device. Place the IR Receiver lens in direct line of sight where your Remote Control is used. Use the attached velcro tape to afix it in place. NOTE: If you place the All Digital Device in direct line of sight with your Remote Control, you will not need to connect the IR Receiver cable. 10 All Digital Device Connecting Your All Digital Device 1 Connection to an Audio System CABLE IN The All Digital Device can be connected to most audio receivers by connecting thhe Mini-to-RCA connector to the stereo audio (red and white) RCA inputs. For best results consult any documentation which came with your audio receiver. HDMI VIDEO AUDIO TV INPUTS L R STEREO INPUTS 11 1 All Digital Device Connecting Your All Digital Device Velcro Installation Adhesive Liner If desired, use the Velcro tape included to adhere the All Digital Device to a surface such as a wall, furniture or your TV Interlocking Hooks and Loops Liner Be certain to place the All Digital Device in a well-ventilated area. A Peel off bottom liners and apply velcro tape firmly to the bottom and between the feet of the All Digital Device as illustrated. CAUTION: Do not cover or obstruct any vents on the All Digital Device. B Remove top liners and press firmly against a horizontal surface. NOTE: If the All Digital Device is placed out of the line-of-site of your Remote Control, you will need to use the IR reciever. (p.12) C 12 To remove, peel away the All Digital Device slowly. Adhesive 2 Watching Television Program Information 2.2 Getting Program Info Press the INFO button to view basic information about the program you are currently watching. • • • • Channel (Number/Logo) Program/Start and End Time Available Options (Audio/SAP) Time Remaining More Program Info Press the INFO button again to view more detailed information about the current program. • Description • Rating/Theme 14 Program Navigation Watching Television 2 2.3 Navigating the Zap Browser The Zap Browser is an onscreen guide for viewing and finding information about the channel lineup and current and following programs. Use the ARROW buttons on your remote control to navigate the Zap Browser. Use the UP and DOWN ARROWS to review program information on other channels. The Zap Browser will display logos for the channel line-up while the bottom displays the active favorite list and the current time, day and date. Use the ARROW keys to navigate and access basic program information about the channel lineup. Use the OK/SELECT button to tune to a highlighted current program. 15 2 Watching Television Program Navigation Browsing Channels While the Zap Browser is open you can use the PAGE +/- buttons to scroll.* Browse Programs Use the RIGHT ARROW to view more information for selected programs. Press the LEFT ARROW to return to basic information about the current program. 16 *NOTE: While displaying the line-up logos in the Zap Browser, use the PAGE+/buttons to scroll through several channels at once. Program Navigation Watching Television 2 Setting a Timer TIP: A timer is used to automatically change to a channel of a desired program at its date and time. Press the OK/SELECT button to set a timer for a highlighted following program.* NOTE: Press the OK/SELECT button for an upcoming program set with a timer and you will have the option of canceling the timer. You can also review your timers by going to the main menu and selecting Timers. Exiting the Zap Browser Press the EXIT button at any time to exit the Zap Browser and return to full screen video. 17 2 Watching Television Program Navigation 2.4 Navigating the Guide Press GUIDE on your remote control to access the guide. Use the UP and DOWN ARROWS to move up and down the channel list. Use the RIGHT ARROW to move to the program list. 18 Program Navigation Watching Television 2 The Dayshifter Press LAST navigates to the dayshifter. In the Dayshifter ARROW RIGHT to move to the next day. ARROW DOWN to browse the the program list. Program Information Press OK/SELECT on a highlighted program to get detailed information: • • • • Event Title Description Duration Date • • • • Begin/End Time Channel Network Rating/Theme 19 2 Watching Television Program Navigation Setting a Timer Select an upcoming program. Use the arrow keys to choose SET TIMER and press OK/SELECT to set a timer for this program. Use the arrow keys to choose CANCEL TIMER and press OK/SELECT to cancel the timer for this program. NOTE: Press the OK/SELECT button for an upcoming program set with a timer and you will have the option of canceling the timer. You can also review your timers by going to the main menu and selecting Timers. 20 3 Menu System Main Menu 3.1 Main Menu Press MENU on your remote control to access the menu system. Use the UP and DOWN arrows on your remote to navigate through the menu items. Press OK/SELECT on your remote control to select a menu item or option. Press the DONE button on your remote to automatically select DONE on any screen that has the DONE button. Press the HELP button on your remote while in any menu screen to launch the Help and Information screen. Press LAST on your remote to go to the previous menu screen. 22 Favorites/Themes Menu System 3 3.2 Favorites/Themes Select FAVORITES from the main menu. Select a Channel Theme. Select CHANNEL THEMES to set the channel lineup. Use the UP and DOWN arrows on your remote to choose a theme. Press OK to toggle an onscreen button on or off. Press PAGE UP/DOWN (CH +/- on your remote) if there is more than one Channel Themes page. Select DONE when you have finished making your choices. 23 3 Menu System Favorites/Themes Edit Favorites Select the name of the favorite list. Select EDIT CURRENT FAVORITE to change the channels in the theme. Use ARROW buttons on your remote to select channels to add or remove. Select DONE when 24 Parental Controls *NOTE: If this is the first time you are accessing Parental Controls, the default PIN-Code is “1234”. Please refer to page 31 for information as to how to update and/or change your PIN-Code. Menu System 3 3.3 Parental Controls Select PARENTAL CONTROLS from the main menu. Enter your 4 digit PIN-Code to access Parental Controls using the numbers on your remote. Use Parental Controls to do the following: • Toggle Parental Controls On or Off. • Select Block Channels to make a channel require PIN-Code entry. • Select Block Ratings to choose ratings to block. Select DONE onscreen to save your selections. 25 3 Menu System Timers 3.4 Timers Select TIMERS from the main menu. Use this page to review information regarding timers: • Channel • Program • Date • Time Press PAGE UP/DOWN (CHANNEL +/- on your remote) if there is more than one Timers page. Cancel timers by selecting the REMOVE button onscreen and press OK/SELECT. 26 *NOTE: A confirmation page will appear for each timer cancellation. System Settings Menu System 3 3.5 System Settings Select SYSTEM SETTINGS from the Main Menu. Language Settings Select LANGUAGE SETTINGS from the System Settings Menu. Use the ARROWS on your remote to select a language setting. Navigate to Onscreen Menu Language to select the language in which menu and system text will display. Navigate to Preferred Audio Language to select the language that will be heard when viewing a program with multiple audio tracks. Navigate to Preferred Subtitle Language to select the language that will be used in subtitles. Select DONE when you have finished making your choices. 27 3 Menu System System Settings Video Settings Select VIDEO SETTINGS from the System Settings Menu. Choose your desired video format using the ARROW keys. Select DONE onscreen to save your selections. TV Settings Select TV SETTINGS from the System Settings Menu. Match the format of your TV screen by selecting the correct video format. Choose either 16:9 (Widescreen TV) or 4:3 (Standard TV). Select DONE onscreen to save your selections. Select whether you would like to allow distortion when converting between standard and widescreen.* 28 *NOTE: In order to watch television in HD, be certain to use an HDMI connection. See p. 8 System Settings Menu System 3 Closed Captioning Select CLOSED CAPTIONING from the System Settings Menu. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to navigate through the menu options. Select the ON button and press OK/SELECT to turn on Closed Captioning. Select the OFF button and press OK/SELECT to turn off Closed Captioning. Select FONT STYLE to choose size and style. Select FOREGROUND STYLE to choose color and opacity. Select BACKGROUND STYLE to choose color and opacity. Select EDGE STYLE to choose color and style. 29 3 Menu System System Settings PIN-Code Select PIN-CODE from the System Settings Menu. Enter your 4 digit PIN-Code using the numbers on your remote and press OK/SELECT to continue. Enter your new 4 digit PIN-Code using the numbers on your remote and press OK/SELECT to enter a new PIN-Code and select ENTER onscreen.* Enter your new 4 digit PIN-Code a second time and select ENTER onscreen. Installation Select INSTALLATION from System Settings menu. 30 *NOTE: If this is the first time you are accessing PIN-Code, the default PIN-Code is “1234”. Your PIN-Code may not be 4 equal digits, for example “0000”. System Settings Menu System 3 System Information Select SYSTEM INFORMATION from the Installation menu to view information about your set-top box, software and channels. Use the PAGE UP/DOWN (CH +/- on your remote) to access other System Information pages. Conditional Access Select CONDITIONAL ACCESS from Installation. View details about your Smart Card. 31 3 Menu System System Settings Tuning Status Select TUNING STATUS from Installation menu to view tuning status details. Reset System Select RESET SYSTEM from the Installation menu. Enter your 4 digit PIN-Code using the numbers on your remote and press OK/SELECT to continue. Highlight the CONFIRM button onscreen and OK/SELECT to confirm your choice to reset all settings. WARNING: This will erase all customization, including: PIN-Code, Favorites, Parental Controls and other settings. 32 4 Troubleshooting Onscreen Help 4.1 Onscreen Help Access Help and Information for each Menu Screen Each Menu Screen has a screen-specific help and information page. Access this page at any time by pressing the HELP button on your remote control, or by using the arrow buttons to select HELP located at the bottom of each Menu Screen. Select DONE onscreen to exit Help and Information and return to the Menu Screen you came from. Use the LAST button on your remote control to return to the previous menu screen without saving changes. 34 TIP: Press the HELP button on your remote control to display the Help and Information for the current screen you are viewing. Channel Block and Onscreen Messages Troubleshooting 4 Receive Channel Block and Troubleshooting Messages Onscreen Your All Digital Device can diagnose many problems that may occur with the video and audio signal, as well as the status of the Smart Card that controls your access to programming. Each Message Screen will provide a tip on what to do in case of trouble. Also, channels or programs that are blocked display a notification message. Messages you may receive onscreen may include the following: • • • • • • Signal Problem Access Denied Video Not Ready Audio Not Ready System Data Not Ready Parental Lock 35 4 Troubleshooting Problem Solving 4.2 Problem Solving: All Digital Device Repair Service If you need help installing your All Digital Device, cannot solve All Digital Device problems after you have reviewed the following section, are having trouble with your connection, or have forgotten your PIN-Code, please contact your customer service representative. 36 Problem Possible Cause Suggestions LED light is red. All Digital Device is not turned on. Press the “POWER” button on the remote control to turn on the All Digital Device. Check batteries in All Digital Device remote control. Press the POWER button on the Remote Control. 2. Something, such as furniture, is blocking the path between the Remote Control and the All Digital Device. 3. The batteries in the Remote Control need to be replaced. 4 Make certain nothing is blocking line-of-sight to the All Digital Device or the IR Extension. Make certain the AAA batteries are inserted correctly, checking the + and - positions. Replace the batteries on your Remote Control with two new AAA batteries, properly checking the + and - positions. 37 PIN-Code Please keep track of your PIN-Code here: Notes Care and Maintenance Important Safety Instructions 1.
