A Note from the Administrator...
Dear friends, Almost a year ago our parish began a consultation process with Danel D. White --- Architects to develop wise renovation
proposals for the interior of our church. While the structural “bones” of our building are basically quite good, the inside
worship space needs a face-lift. In addition, some things need to be re-configured to meet current church guidelines for
worship.
Below are the list of concerns our liturgy committee began with:
More appropriate place of repose for Eucharist (tabernacle). Left front of main chamber? Mother’s chapel? If tabernacle is
placed in Mother’s chapel uses: Eucharistic chapel, children’s liturgy gathering place? We have a potential donor to
renovate this room.

More appropriate place(s) for music ministers. Excavate large space behind sanctuary? Continue to use choir loft for
large choirs? Placement of organ?
Renovate sanctuary space. Elevate sanctuary to a uniform level: not so many little steps and obstacles. Better visibility
for presider’s chair. Consider refiguring the sanctuary, losing space in back (excavated musicians’ space) and extend
center of sanctuary (and altar) into the assembly space.
Remove side altars; should be only one altar.
Better and more dignified baptismal font---at main doors? Mid-way into church? Front left? Separate baptistery?
Evaluate and improve interior lighting
Provide another place from which to make announcements (instead of using ambo)
Better and more seating for handicapped. Reconfigure seating in front, movable seats?
Put projection screens (for music) in better places (perhaps one on each side), and provide monitors for those sitting in
side rooms?
More and nicer sanctuary furnishings, candlesticks, etc. more options.
Better landscaping at main door and along side of church building. Perhaps a permanent place for paschal fire?
Replace or fix entry doors.
Evaluate furnishing and lighting of confessional spaces.
Use unutilized confession is as devotional spaces
Create new devotional spaces for statues
Better sanctuary furnishings: chairs for Quinceañera and weddings, etc.
Illuminate St. Margaret Mary image so people driving by at night can see it?
Illuminate front façade of church?
Better parking lot lights
Bride’s room?
Better storage
Make stations of the cross brighter
Evaluate statues and where we’d like to place statues
Get church bells working again
In sacristy: functional sanctorum, sink, provision for washing
In the course of consultation, two other concerns were added:
26. Evaluate parking lot; create welcoming areas by church entrances.
27. Have an excellent state-of-the-art sound system
We had to decide early whether to prioritize the tasks and apply judicious band-aids --- or “go for it” and create a solid, well
-thought, consistent splendid worship space that will stand up to time the way the exterior building has. We decided for the
latter!
Doing things very well will be extremely expensive --- over a million dollars! --- but St. Margaret Mary Church is not like
some shopping mall that’s here today and gone tomorrow. The Catholic church will be here for a long time. And it seems
to be our vocation now to create a splendid worship space for coming generations. I find this extremely exciting!
You will be hearing lots about the proposed renovation in the weeks ahead. Also, before long we’ll have an open parish
meeting to speak, listen, and ask God to bless the work of our hands.
Peace, All Good!
Fr. Mike

A Note from the Administrator...
