OUR VENUES INTRODUCTION
Introduction
Welcome to Auckland Conventions. Holding exceptional events
and conventions with flair and professional excellence is our
passion. From an electrifying opening ceremony to a sumptuous
black tie dinner, whatever the event, we know how to make
it truly unforgettable.
However you wish to thrill and delight your delegates we look

Our venues
Choose from New Zealand’s largest portfolio of venues with flexible
spaces to suit every type of event. Our landmark venues include
the Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall, The Civic, Aotea Square and
Auckland’s newest premium venue, the Viaduct Events Centre
Auckland Conventions offers an array
of superb venues able to accommodate
every occasion from intimate cocktails
to grand banquets, small breakout
groups to large plenary conventions,
presentations to product launches,
breakfast to gala dinners. Whether
your event involves 20 or 2000 people,
Auckland Conventions has a space

Viaduct Events Centre
A premium venue in a stunning location with
eight different spaces suitable for a range
of events. Viaduct Events Centre is a three-story
6,000sqm facility on Auckland’s vibrant waterfront
with spectacular views of the Waitemata
Harbour and city landscape.
Waiheke
Rangitoto
Located on level one, this room is a vast,
commanding space with a 12m high
ceiling, surrounded by glass walls. It is
Auckland’s largest banquet room
accommodating up to 1200 people. The
enormous 10m by 8m service doors allow
convenient delivery of sizeable products
including yachts and cars for large-scale
exhibitions. For events requiring an
indoor-outdoor flow there are multiple
access points from Waiheke room
to the surrounding wharf.
The three Rangitoto rooms are situated on
the eastern side of level two accessed
directly by the escalators from the main
entrance. The soft concertina walls can be
used to divide the space into three
separate break-out rooms or opened to
make one large space. In addition, the
large foyer area in front of the rooms
provides an excellent networking and
catering space. Rangitoto 1, 2 and 3 each
have a balcony overlooking the Viaduct
Basin, which will be highly enjoyable in the
warmer months.

Make a big impression
with a stunning location

Browns Island
A premium dedicated boardroom for
up to 20 people with all the modern
conveniences required to run an efficient
meeting. Situated on level two, above the
main reception with views of Karanga
Plaza. Includes a separate space for
catering services.
Kawau 1
Situated on level three this 570m² room
offers uninterrupted views of Viaduct Basin
including the new Wynyard Crossing
footbridge. It accommodates up to 700
people in cocktail setting and 400 in
banquet. The northern, full length glass
wall also offers views to the main exhibition
space, Waiheke Room. The exposed wave
roof is not only a unique aesthetic element
of the space but is a critical component in
the building’s sustainable design.
Kawau 2
Situated on the southern end of level
three, Kawau 2 is suitable as an additional
break-out room or media room for
conferences. Holding up to 70 in theatre
style and 100 in cocktail style.

OUR VENUES AOTEA CENTRE
Aotea Centre
Opened in 1990, Aotea Centre has been
used for conventions for over 18 years.
The conventions wing is equipped the latest
cutting-edge technology, contemporary
design and furnishings.
ASB Auditorum
Limelight
The 2160 tiered-seat auditorium is an
exceptionally versatile space providing
impressive seating for seminars, awards
and opening ceremonies, stage dinners
and keynote presentations.
Limelight’s ambience and design make for
a large, versatile space that is perfect for
presentations for up to 200 people when
utilising the full space, or two rooms
offering presentation space for 140 and
100 people. Located on the same level as
Upper NZI and BNZ Foyer and connected
by a common foyer area. Limelight has a
built-in contemporary bar with a soft wall
that can be removed for cocktails following
a presentation or for hosting your VIP
clients before taking them to a show.
Lower NZI
Lower NZI is over 900m² and features an
impressive 74m² skylight over the selfcontained foyer, that provides an
abundance of natural light. The venue can
be partitioned into three generous rooms
with a private foyer area, or combined to
create a large meeting area that can
accommodate up to 620 delegates,
theatre-style. When open, the space can
cater for up to 1000 cocktail guests and
dinners for up to 650.
Upper NZI
The extensive use of glass in the Upper
NZI provides a large amount of natural
light and fantastic views of the city. With
over 500m², the space is ideal for up to
350 guests theatre-style, 280 banquet
style and is popular for cocktails in the
evening light. Upper NZI provides the
option of partitioning into three separate
spaces or peeping out to a larger area.

Goodman Fielder Room
This room features floor-to-ceiling glass
and windows providing ample natural light
and an impressive view of Auckland City.
The Goodman Fielder Room is a versatile
space, able to seat 100 delegates
theatre-style. With access to a balcony
overlooking Aotea Square it is popular for
small meetings and cocktail evenings for
up to 100 guests.

Lower NZI, Aotea Centre
The Durafort Room is an intimate and
quiet space adjacent to the Goodman
Fielder Room and can comfortably hold
small meetings of up to 25. The Durafort
Room is joined by a soft wall to the
Goodman Fielder Room which can be
removed to open up into one large space
if needed.
Owens, BNZ &
Air NZ Foyers
These versatile, large expanses of space
are regularly used for exhibitions, large
cocktail functions and lunch spaces for
conferences. The BNZ Foyer features a
white marble floor and floor-to-ceiling
windows allowing stunning views of Aotea
Square and the Auckland cityscape. While
the largest – the Air NZ Foyer – is an ideal
space for corporate exhibitions, gala
dinners and award evenings.
Aotea Square
As Auckland’s largest open-air space in
the inner city, situated immediately outside
Aotea Centre, the 4,500m² Aotea Square
is ideal to create an indoor-outdoor flow
for your event and lends itself perfectly for
creating something a little less ordinary.

OUR VENUES the civic
The Civic
Built in the roaring 1920’s, The Civic was first
constructed as a ‘palace of dreams’ to screen
movies. In 2000, after a $42 million restoration to
bring it back to its former glory, The Civic has
been converted into Auckland’s most spectacular
performing arts theatre and superior banquet
and gala function space.
The Civic Auditorium
Safari Room
Accommodating over 2378 in tiered
seating, the design style of the Auditorium
is in stunning contrast to the contemporary
design of the Aotea Centre. The
Auditorium is a favourite for opening or
closing ceremonies and unique product
launches. As New Zealand’s only
atmospheric theatre, the domed ceiling
and spectacular starscape make any
event extra special.
Exotic décor gives the Safari Room a
special intimate feeling. The room
comfortably holds up to 80 people in
cocktail-style.
Wintergarden
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, in keeping with the rest of
the venue, has an eastern theme in tones
of blue and grey. Located next to the
Safari Room, the Taj Mahal holds 50
people banquet-style or 70 for cocktails.
Located directly below the Auditorium,
the Wintergarden is accessible from
The Civic lobby by a double grand
staircase. With its themed walls, and
ceiling and central pillars, the room is a
spectacular setting for cocktails and
special occasion dinners and is also
popular for cabaret evenings, product
launches and awards evenings.

The Civic provides an

Auckland Town Hall
One of Auckland’s most significant heritage
buildings, the Auckland Town Hall was opened
in 1911 and restored in 1997. It is renowned for
its stunning Edwardian Baroque design.
Great Hall
Concert Chamber
The Great Hall is the centrepiece of the
Auckland Town Hall seating more than
1500 people theatre-style in three levels.
The hall has a permanent concert platform
and is renowned for its excellent
acoustics. The removable seating in the
stalls level of the Great Hall provides for
a flat floor area suitable for award and
graduation ceremonies, banquets for up
to 460 guests and cocktails for up to
1600 guests.
Elegant and stylish the Concert Chamber
is spectacular for cocktails or banquets,
accommodating 300 and 200 respectively.
It can seat 431 theatre-style and features
stalls seating that is removable and
flat-floored for cocktails and banquets. The
Concert Chamber is also renowned for its
incredible acoustics and is adjacent to the
Great Hall.
VIP Rooms 1 & 2
These rooms are located on the lower level
of the Auckland Town Hall and are ideal for
an intimate meeting or cocktail event. VIP
Room 1 can take up to 40 people cocktailstyle or theatre-style and VIP Room 2 can
accommodate 25 people cocktail-style
and 30 people theatre-style.

Security services is our own team of highly
trained professionals who are onsite 24/7.

building during events and are there to
