Jason Rifkin is the President of Equilibrium and oversees Program Management and DesignBuild projects for life science facilities. Jason has worked in the life science industry for over 20
years and brings extensive experience in the biotechnology and life science sector previously
working for Celera Genomics and NeuralStem. Jason has worked with Turner Construction
Company as a life sciences construction market consultant and for Scheer Partners as a Senior
Vice President in charge of Development and Construction of Life Science facilities.
Jason holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland at Baltimore
County, a Masters of Science in Developmental Neurobiology from Montana State University,
and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. Jason has also
published articles in peer reviewed scientific journals and presented at scientific and facility
related conferences.
Nate Roman is a General Manager and Partner at Azzur Group. He has been with Azzur Group
for 7 years. Azzur Group is a full service company providing a variety of compliance services to
the Life Sciences Industry. He has over fourteen (14) years of versatile experience in the
pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing industry. Starting as an AutoCAD draftsman in
the Engineering industry and working his way up through the ranks of validation specialist to
Project Lead in the Pharmaceutical industry.
Nate has been an active member for 8 years and served as board member, social committee
lead and currently Vice President of the Chesapeake Bay Chapter.
Rad Farenwald is Engineering and Facilities Manager for Aeras. Aeras is a non-profit product
development organization focused on the development of effective tuberculosis (TB) vaccines
as well as a CMO vaccine manufacturer. His previous life science experience includes Facilities
Manager and Senior Project Engineer at Lonza/Cambrex, and a Senior Engineer for Life
Technologies/Invitrogen. Previous to the life science industry, Rad’s experience includes
various engineering and management positions at Tyco/AMP Inc. and engineering assignments
at Fiat/Ford/Sperry New Holland.
Rad has been with a member of the ISPE Chesapeake Bay Chapter since 2003, serving as a
BOD external advisor and currently as chapter Secretary. Rad has previous affiliations with AIIE
and SME associations. He has a B.S. Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.
Michael Molloy, PE is a Principal at Qualification Process Solutions, LLC (QPS,LLC). As a
licensed engineer, he provides process engineering, project management, and consulting
expertise for critical utility and process systems for his firms biotech and pharmaceutical
clients. Previously, he worked as Director of Engineering for a multi-product CMO responsible for
facility modifications and improvements and in a technical role for product tech transfers and scale
up. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and an MBA
from the University of Baltimore. Mike has been an ISPE member for over 15 years. In addition to
his current local leadership role, he is an active volunteer in ISPE at the international level. He
teaches recurring courses on GMP water and steam systems for local universities and trade
association events.
