A Note From The Principal…………..
It is approaching very quickly. Tickets are selling like crazy. Decorations are being designed and food has been ordered.
“What?” you may ask. “Is it time for the EPC Fair already?”
NO…, of course not! It is the biannual APS/UCLS Dinner Auction. And do we have an amazing evening planned
for you. The theme is a Mardi Gras Celebration, just in time to coincide with the actual Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. There will be fun and games and lots of great fellowship. It is definitely not an event you want to miss.
We also really need your help! Not only is this a fun event (some say it is the best dinner auction anywhere around…), it is a huge
fund raiser for our school. With past funds we have purchased 7 Smart Boards, laptops, a laptop cart, and most recently, Leap Pads for Preschool and Kindergarten. Future plans include the purchase of 1 to 1 devices where we can have one or two classroom sets of devices for students to use. Future purchases will also include equipment needed to manage the devices, software for the devices, and a school-management
program where teachers can record grades and parents can access them at any time. What we do with the auction money certainly impacts the
daily lives of our students.
Before Christmas, a letter was sent to each family asking you to donate items to be auctioned off. You can go to businesses or your
own workplace for donations of these items, or you can purchase items that you think would be “auctionable.” Each family received three donation forms. If you have not already done so, please go out and collect your items. We really need everyone involved in this event to make it
another huge success.
Individual classrooms are also creating baskets to auction off. If you can help your child’s teacher assemble this basket that would be
great. Please contact them to discuss your ideas with them.
Finally, we also need help the evening of the event selling tickets or afterwards with clean up. If you can help that night, please let me
know. It is a big undertaking, with big results. All of our families are needed to help. Let me know if you have any questions.
Help wanted
The Dinner Auction committee needs volunteers to help run games, sell tickets and clean up after the auction. If you
can help with anything that night, please contact Miss Honoree.
Backpack Mail
Geography Bee
The students in grades 4-8 will be participating in the National
Geographic Geography Bee during the week of January 26. The
students will participate in an oral quiz round in their individual
grades, with points given for each correct answer. Once the
rounds are complete in all of grades 4-8, the 10 students with the
highest points will compete against each other.
If your child wishes to study in preparation, they can go to
Watch your child’s backpack mail this week. December bills
were sent home on Tuesday or Wednesday. If applicable, this
bill also included your 2014 child care and preschool totals.
Report cards were also sent home on Wednesday. Be sure to
sign and return your child’s report card once you have read it!

Did you know about Scrip NOW! ?This program allows scrip
to be purchased and either printed on paper or sent electronically to your phone. This means you can purchase scrip other
than what might be available on hand in the office. Over 250
retailers (including Wal-Mart and Target, Lowe’s, JCPenney)
offer scripNow.
Because of the sheer convenience, almost $300 of the
$1300 in profits of the scrip program have come from the handful of people using scripNow. Stop in and ask Sarah B. for more
information.

K-2: The Lord’s Prayer -- The First Petition – “Hallowed be Thy
name.”
Bible Verse
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me,
bless his holy name! Psalm 103:1 (ESV)
3-8: The Lord’s Prayer -- The First Petition and Meaning –
“Hallowed be Thy name. What does this mean? God’s name is certainly holy in itself, but we pray in this petition that it may be kept
holy among us also. How is God’s name kept holy? God’s name is
kept holy when the Word of God is taught in its truth and purity, and
we, as the children of God, also lead holy lives according to it. Help
us to do this, dear Father in heaven! But anyone who teaches or lives
contrary to God’s Word profanes the name of God among us. Protect
us from this, heavenly Father!”
Hymn of the Week: LSB 533 “Jesus Has Come and
Brings Pleasure”
Jesus has come and brings pleasure eternal,
Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End;
Godhead, humanity, union supernal,
O great Redeemer, You come as our friend!
Heaven and earth, now proclaim this great wonder:
Jesus has come and brings pleasure eternal!
