Or leave it to just a few, and talk about the cliques? So come along with meetings, and help with hand & heart, Don’t just be a member, but take an active part. Think it over people, you know right from wrong! Are you an active member, or one that just belongs? APRIL RALLY IS JAM PACKED!! Not only do we have the AGM this rally, there is also a guest speaker at lunch and Flat & Games team practice after lunch!! Make sure to check out the Rally timetable and parents roster before the rally. Classes /Groups will be altered in the afternoon due to the Central Zone Games and Flat team practices, but this will be for THIS RALLY only. And if you cannot make the rally, please notify a member of the Exec committee by EMAIL, TEXT or PHONE. Not via a friend on FB, or telling someone at school or that you see in the Plaza, who then may or may not pass the details onto the exec committee. DO YOU HAVE? The Club have purchased PCAV dressage DVD’s from Grade 1 – 5 and Dressage DVD judges. The only DVD’s currently in the Clubrooms are Grade 1 and Grade 2. If you have the other DVD’s, please return to the Clubrooms. And there are still 2 horse measuring sticks missing. 1 belongs to the Club, and 1 belongs to Wayne Cuthbert. Please return them ASAP. Guest Speaker April Rally 12 noon in the Extension For all parents and riders. Please be there on time, as this will go for about 45 minutes. New Members We had 2 new members join the Club last rally, Elizabeth & Margaret Collett. Please make them feel welcome to the Club. We have a rider wishing to join Pony Club, but has no float. The pony is located in McGraths Rd, Wyndham Vale. If you are able to help them, please email [email protected] Replace helmets after a heavy impact Riding hats should always be replaced immediately if they suffer a severe impact such as from a fall or being dropped onto a hard surface as although no visible damage may be seen, any severe impact to the riding hat can result in diminished protection. In addition the protection offered by any riding hat diminishes over time as the padding inside becomes compressed and so any riding hat should routinely be replaced every 3-4 years even if there are no visible signs of damage. When buying a riding hat it is always best to buy a new one and second hand riding hats should be avoided as there is no way to be certain that any second hand riding hat, even if it looks in tact, has not received a severe impact in the past that could result in diminished protection. New Fundraising Co-Ordinator & Club raffles Taneisha C has offered to do the general fundraising during the year for the Club. There is currently a Mother’s day raffles – March – May 2012 ($1 per ticket or 3 for $2), and if you have sold any tickets so far, please return to the April rally, along with your money. We were hoping to run this from the March rally, with all profits will be going towards riders PCAV insurance being subsidized for 2012/2013. So the more tickets sold, the more we can put towards the riders insurance! More details available at the April rally Taneisha is looking for others to help her on the Fundraising team. This is a new option that was offered by AON on a one in all in basis. State Council voted to include 24/7 pa cover in the PCAV Membership fees in July 2011 after receiving feedback from Clubs. However, due to the logistics of collecting the fees it was agreed to defer the implementation until the 2012-2013 year. In February 2012 State Council voted to accept the 24/7 pa cover fee proposed by AON for the 20122013 membership year. The PCAV Membership Fees for 2012-2013, including 24/7 Personal Accident cover, will be; Riding Member Junior $115.00 (GST Inc) Riding Member over 18 $135.00 (GST Inc) Link for further info: http://www.ponyclubvic.org.au/default.asp?Page=22637 http://www.ponyclubvic.org.au/?Page=10636 These fees do not include the Werribee Pony Club rally fees & admin fees for the Club and Zone. The jump in price is due to riders now being covered 24/7, rather than just at Pony Club events. In the past, riders where only insured for Pony Club events and rallies. So, if you attended all the Pony Club rallies for the season, and did 11 competitions a year, you were only covered for the 22 days of PCAV events. Now, for just 32 cents a day for juniors and 37 cents a day for members over 18, you are now covered 24/7. So if you are at the paddock, out training at other venues and out riding with your friends, you have insurance in case of an accident. This year there was no navigation ride, but it was still a great ride to the dam on Saturday. Then the Pub ride Sunday – and guess who got us lost again when left in charge? (But really, how can you get that lost at Daylesford??) The Pub meal was once again awesome, and there were 2 rides on the way home. With Aimee in charge of the long ride home no one was lost and it was a great ride. A few of the riders then tagged along with a Trail ride on the Monday morning before they went home. There was a Camp teams challenge, with the winners being Mel M and Georgia M. All teams still received a prize, even with some interesting answers on the quiz!! It was yet again a great weekend, looking forward to next year again! Bumper Stickers & key rings Werribee PC have now have Bumper Stickers for your float and key rings for! They are on order, and will be available to collect at the May rally. $10 per sticker/key ring. It is a great way to promote your Club, with the stickers going onto your float for everyone to see. Limited stock available, so get in quick! Keyrings: Front Side Keyrings: Back side Central Zone news The Central Zone would like to remind everyone that Pony Club is not just about competition results at the end of the day but also about the way we compete. It is as important for our riders to learn the qualities of good sportsmanship and grace when competing as it is to undertake the experience of being a competitor. Please, as our riders’ role models in life, the Zone would encourage you to remember this and to demonstrate these qualities also. We all still learn by example. The Zone would also like to remind riders that incorrectly fittings saddles are being found at Gear Check. A saddle riser is only a temporary fix, and saddles may have to be re-stuffed. C CERTIFICATES Riders who have passed their 14th birthday and been pony club members for more than two years must have obtained their C before competing at state level. The following riders will be sitting the C CERTIFICATE in the SEPT / OCT 2012. Please ensure you have purchased your C WORKBOOK by THIS RALLY Lisa P, Shannon P, Taylor T, Vanessa P, Vanessa R, Georgia M We also have 4 riders getting ready to sit the ridden test: Sam B, Emma B, Hollie A & Gabby I. Good luck to those riders, results available next newsletter. CZ Flat, Musical and Games qualifiers. TH The 2012 CZ Flat, Musical and Games qualifiers is being held on Sunday 29 April @ Oaklands Pony Club Grounds, and we are looking at having not just a Games team, but a team of 4 flat as well!! We have not entered a Games team over the last few years, and have not had a Flat team for the last 12 years. This is very exciting for the Club, and it is a great way to get out and compete for your Club as a group. Make sure to go down and show your support!! And good luck to all those going!!!
