Why Leather Needs Care
Until now, most leather care products fell short. Soaps and
some topical preparations may be alkaline (pH above 7)
and can break down leather fiber. Soaps can leave behind a
soap scum or residue while some treatments darken leather
or migrate, creating greasy spots that encourage mold and
mildew problems. Others are unable to lubricate the corium
of leather, the interior matrix that provides vital cushioning,
flexibility and where leather works hardest.

Repellant should be applied first. Re-apply a light spray coat when leather

Start With Clean Leather
Simply oiling tack is never good enough. Horse tack should
be cleaned after each use because dirt and horse sweat
mingle to create greasy grunge. This mix is a breeding
ground for bacteria and mold to begin the process of
destroying leather and weakening stitching. Ignoring this
important cleaning step can lead to torn straps and can also
transfer bacteria back to your horse causing irritating skin
problems.
How To Keep Leather In Good Condition
Keep Leather Well Maintained and Nourished
Without care, the elements and time will oxidize the
lubricants that keep leather supple. Then, as leather is
used, the dry fibers rub against each other creating friction,
causing the fibers to break, split or crack.
With Leather Therapy products, leather will regain a healthy
look and feel. After applying LEATHER THERAPY RESTORER,
within a few hours, even the driest, hardest leathers will be
noticeably more supple and, therefore, less likely to weaken
or split.
For Initial Treatment or Restoration: Apply LEATHER
THERAPY RESTORER to clean leather and allow to dry.
Leather will absorb what it needs to restore suppleness.
Drying time and number of applications will vary depending
on thickness and dryness of leather. Because of the
emulsifying effects of LEATHER THERAPY RESTORER, you
may notice residue coming to the surface. This is the deeply
imbedded grime of old saddle soaps or oils. Simply wipe
away with a damp sponge or lint-free cloth. LEATHER
