Addendum Number 1
This Addendum No. 1 is being issued prior to the bid opening to include and describe certain
revisions and/or clarifications for the BJCC Forum Lifeguard Tenant Fit-Out. The bid
specifications and drawings previously distributed shall govern the work described herein, unless
otherwise modified by this Addendum.
It is the intent of the Owner to include the following revisions and/or clarifications in this
Addendum as part of the original specifications. Each Bidder is requested to include any and all
costs associated with this Addendum in his proposal.
Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this Addendum with their proposals on the appropriate form
included in the Proposal Section of the specifications.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The following is general information that modifies the original bid documents.
1. The bid opening location has been moved from the Executive Board Room to the Forum
Meeting Room “M” which is located on the first floor of the Forum Building.

4. Addenda:
 Minutes of Pre-Bid and any pertinent discussed items shall be issued as Addendum following prebid conference.
 Any further addenda necessary after Pre-Bid will be issued to all.
5. Project Coordination / Communication:
 All correspondence between Owner / Contractor /Consultant or sub consultants shall come through
the Consultant from Contractor to the Owner.
6. Existing Conditions / Constraints:
 Construction staging and delivery routes to be identified by Owner.
7. Minority and Women-Owned Participation
 See specifications for BCIA requirements.
8. Meetings:
 Owner / Consultant / Contractor (OAC) progress meeting to be held weekly.

OWNER COMMENTS
1. Specific BJCC requirements reviewed are:
 No smoking, chewing or dipping allowed on the property
 Professional attire is required, meaning no shorts, tank tops
 No guns, alcohol, drugs allowed on the property
 No offensive language
 All employees should be identifiable as being with the contractor, t-shirts with company name for
instance
 Noisy work is not allowed except for the hours of 6pm to 6am
 Fire alarm testing is typically conducted at 6am or 6pm
 Dumpster to be located in dock off alley and it is an area where the contractor working on the
Sheraton Corridor Renovations also has a dumpster located
 Waste service provider should be made aware of tight conditions and will be responsible for any
damage to the soffit during removal of containers
 The freight elevator must be used for transport of people and material
 Notify BJCC of any issues with pan handlers
 2 parking deck access cards will be provided to the general contractor
2. Requirement for questions on the work:
 All questions must be in writing to Jerry Nelms and Shelia Montgomery Mills, BJCC
 Will be answered in an addendum
 Must be submitted on week prior to bid opening. Question cut-off is seven days prior to bid opening.
3. Project specific discussion:
 Demolition will be completed prior to work beginning, 7th Floor only
 7th floor, specifically the dispatch area is most critical, and is Phase 1
 Salvage existing lights to be removed and not reused; to be placed on the 4th floor of the Forum
 Existing lights are to be reused
 Additional lights are to be provided from a stockpile on 4th floor
 Plans to be submitted to the City of Birmingham today
 OSHA is located in the building, 10th floor
 BJCC will work with Simplex to silence all devices for fire alarm
 The floors will be open again prior to bid day for further inspections, date to be set later
 Bulk of work on 7th floor
 The carpet will be quick ship
 There is some VCT, again will be readily available
 Plans will be sent to Simplex to help expedite the fire alarm plan and permit process
 There are two alternates for additional work requested by the tenant
 The tax exempt process is the same as for schools. Certificates will be required for the general
contractor and subcontractors.
 Some cabinets that are being removed and stored during demolition will be installed on 8th floor by
the contractor
 Electrical emergency power is within the scope of work
 Data drops, without wires is included
 Tenant to contract with 3rd party for data/phone/security installation
 There is a $20,000 contingency to be included in the bid price
 Keep the blinds clean and not be damaged, pull up all the way before work begins
 Water supply to be capped, it should be above the ceiling or below the floor
 Bidders must hold an Alabama General Contractor’s license and write the number on the outside of
the envelope

Deadline for completion of the 7th floor Phase 1 is set for April 15th, 2016 at this time
Addendum will be issued on when the remainder of the project is to be complete
There is consideration of separating the permit to help expedite the CO for dispatch
