EXHIBIT EXPLORATION
No time limit in main galleries – $5 per student or chaperone, FREE for
teachers
NEW! Science in Play – Imagine the Next Generation
Science Standards for science and engineering practices
and design all in one exhibit experience. Six activity zones
challenge students to investigate with their senses, use
objects as tools, build, climb, predict, test and engineer
new science activities through experimental play. The
Shapes & Stuff Store uses imaginative play to browse
shapes and create patterns while sharpening math literacy
skills such as counting, geometry, color identification and comparison.
NGSS: PS1-1, PS1-2
The World We Create – Manufacturing, transportation, architecture, physics, engineering
and communication all define the world we create. Hands-on exhibits encourage exploration,
investigation and problem-solving through some real world applications, and explore the
societal and ethical implications of Nanotechnology. NANO was created by the Nanoscale
Informal Science Education Network (NISE Network) with support from the National Science
Foundation.
NGSS: PS1-1, PS1-2, PS1-3, PS2-1, PS4-1, ETS1-1, STS1-2, ETS1-3
The World Around Us – Natural and earth sciences come to life in a wide range of interactive
and multimedia activities. Explore the three major ecological galleries: Atmosphere- The Air That
Surrounds Us, Terrasphere -Environments That Support Us, and Aquasphere- The Water That
Sustains Us, to discover concepts such as ecology and ecosystems, biological diversity, matter
and energy in organisms and ecosystems, and natural selection and adaptation.
NGSS: LS1-1, LS2-2
The World Within Us – Learn more about how our body works through hands-on exhibits that
will give your students a new appreciation for the parts most people take for granted. Explore
how healthy and unhealthy lifestyle choices affect your body. The World Within Us is an in-depth
exploration of our life cycle and how we, as organisms, us matter and energy, process biological
information, grow, develop, adapt, and age. This exhibit features Amazing Beginnings. In a
reverent, awe-inspiring display, eight human embryos and fetuses show how humans develop
from two autonomous cells.
