HOW TO GET TO TOWN
Transportation is available at the port to take you into Rome itself. While it's
a good idea to use public transportation or a taxi to transport you from one
side of the city to the other, you can cover lots of territory in Rome on foot.

SIGHTS TO VISIT WHILE SHOPPING
A. The Colosseum
This structure is Rome’s most famous ancient ruin. It was
inaugurated in 80 AD, Lheld

with marble and decorated with stuccos. It was an arena used
for games and shows during ancient Roman times and it had an
ingenious system of awnings to provide shade. Unfortunately, only
about one third of the original structure remains. (Admission Fee)
B. The Arch of Constantine
Erected in 315 AD in honor of the Emperor’s Victory over Pagan
forces, this arch is located next to the Colosseum.
C. The Forum
The Forum was once the political, commercial and social center
of Rome, studded with public meeting halls, shops and temples.
Today, it is just a mass of ruins, which began deteriorating as Rome
declined.
D. The Pantheon
This ancient structure was built in 27 BC and is one of Rome’s
finest, best preserved and perhaps least appreciated ancient
monuments. It is located in Piazza della Rotonda and is known for
its outstanding architectural harmony. It is now the burial site of
painter, Raphael and members of Italian royalty.

This structure was built as a tomb for the Emperor Hadrian in

F. Vatican City
When you enter this area, you are entering an independent and
sovereign state, which is 108 acres and surrounded by thick, high
walls. It is home to the Pope, the world’s largest church, St. Peter’s
Bascilica, world famous Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel.
G. Fontana Di Trevi
Completed in 1700’s, this fountain combines mythical sea
creatures and cascades of splashing water. According to legend,
one must throw a coin into the water to ensure a return trip to
Rome.
H. Piazza Di Spagna
This irregular shaped piazza features various architectural styles,
but the main focus is the celebrated Scalinata di Trinita dei Monti or
the Spanish steps. These steps harmoniously connect the piazza
with the pincio hill right above it. Rome’s fashionable shopping
district begins just yards from the bottom of these steps.
