This precious little girl has
finally made the journey from
Salt Lake City, Utah to her
new home in Virginia Beach.
We had over 45 entries of
names and it was a difficult
decision because every one of
them seemed to fit her
perfectly. Due to her sweet
demeanor and looks her name
is “Dulce” which is Spanish
for sweet! Dulce will need a
little more home training
before she can make regular
visits. Stay tuned for
upcoming visitation dates.

Many thanks to The Catholic Heart Work Camp! The volunteers spent a whole week
assisting the Activity Staff with everything from setting up for various programs,
playing trivia with the residents, cleaning walkers and wheelchairs, playing the piano
and helping residents bake dog biscuits for the SPCA. The CHWC helped anyone in
need, completing every task given to them with a smile. Marian Manor is very
blessed to have such wonderful campers. They brought great energy to our
community and the residents loved them! Can’t wait to see them again next year.
 On Sunday, July 3rd come join us as the Norfolk Tides face the Durham Bulls. After the
game there will be a post-game firework extravaganza. Bus will depart by 5:15pm. Cost will be $12.00
per ticket.
 On Thursday, July 7th at 2:00- Come to the Activity Room and join Connor Land as he puts together
some good eats!
 Come join us on Thursday, July 7th at 8:30pm as we head to the Oceanfront and enjoy the
life & music of Ella Fitzgerald. Bus will depart at 7:45pm. Please sign up in the Activity Room.
 On Sunday, July 10th at 7:00pm, Bands by the Bay at the Ocean View Park stage will feature Glen
Boswick & the Sound of Swing. They will be performing some of the greatest Big Band sounds of the
40’s through today! Since 1977, The Sound of Swing Orchestra has been Hampton Roads leading
premier big band swing dance orchestra. Bus will be depart by 6:30pm.
 Wednesday, July 20th at 11:30am You ladies enjoy conversation and Crafts? The Red Hat Party Gals like the
same!! The Red Hat Society will be meeting up in the Private Dining Room for lunch followed by a craft
class. Please sign up in the Activity Room.
 Monday, July 18th at 2:00pm in the Living Room, The voters registrar Office
will be sending a representative here to help assist you with updating your address, applying for a
absentee ballot, or register to vote and provide residents with a valid voter photo ID. Please have two
forms of ID.
 Wednesday, July 20th - Ynot Wednesdays is here! Come and join us at the Sandler Center Outdoor Plaza
at 5:00pm as we kick off its 8th annual summer night concert series. The HM Johnson Band will be
performing live music ranging from classic r&b, swing, jazz and the blues! The van will depart at
4:15pm. Sign up in the Activity Room.
 “Hear ye hear ye staff & residents”, it is Medieval Day at Marian Manor on Wednesday, July 20 th
wear your Medieval best! A contest for the best costume will win a prize!
 Wednesday, July 27th at 12:00pm-Who remembers Doumar’s historic diner and curb service
restaurant? Home of the original waffle cone, Doumar’s believes in creating great traditions and
keeping them going. You’ll love the hand-made waffle cones, rolled right in front of your eyes on the
original four iron waffle machine, built in 1904. Come join us at Doumar’s for a great luncheon. Cost may
apply to meal. Bus will depart at 11:15am.
 Come join us Monday, July 11th & July 25th for Beach Tai Chi at 9:30am. This form of exercise helps
maintain flexibility and balance. Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion”.
 Friday, July 29th at 10:00am-C'mon everybody...it's time to get ALL SHOOK UP! It's 1955, and into a
square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing roustabout who changes everything
and everyone he meets in this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy that'll have you jumpin'
out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Jailhouse Rock,"
and "Don't Be Cruel." The Hurrah Players presents: All Shook Up at the TCC Roper Performing Arts
Center. Bus will depart by 9:00am. Limited Seating. Please sign up in the Activity Room. Cost will be
$7.00 a ticket.
Let’s welcome Cynthia Williams our new Activity Coordinator. Cynthia retired from ODU after 30
years as a Job Fair Coordinator to return to school and pursue a degree in Biblical Studies. She has
a passion and calling for working with seniors. It is her goal to become a Chaplain in an eldercare
community. She is currently working on a MBS online program at Virginia Baptist College. She is
also the Life Enrichment Coordinator at Parsons Residential Assisted Living, Chesapeake, VA. She is
a widow and mother of two sons, a daughter and two beautiful grand-daughters. Cynthia
volunteers at several eldercare communities in Hampton Roads since 2010 sharing her Hum-aHymn Ministry to the seniors. Cynthia loves writing poetry, music, cooking, gardening and long
walks on the beach. Welcome Cynthia!

I love summer! But, Summer is hot.
It's sun and shade….It's water to wade.
It's frogs and bugs….It's grass for rugs.
It's eating outside….It's a tree-swing ride.
It's tomatoes and corn….It's dew in the morn.
It's dogs and boys…And lots of noise.
It's a hot sunny sky….It's summer. That's why.....
I love summer.
Even though Summers are hot, that doesn’t mean we still can’t have lots of FUN…
And our Summer Series called “You Ask For It” is really heating up. Every Wednesday we meet to
Worship together, and we have been tackling some really fun, and interesting topics from a Biblical
perspective.
In July we will discuss:

The Wow Wednesday Service is always at 10:15am in the Terrace Room, and the Bible Study/Discussion
time is always Mondays at 3pm in the Library… Come join us as we dig in to what the Bible says, and
learn some incredible truths together.
