The “Istituto Professionale di Stato “Gaetano Salvemini” is a five-year
mixed vocational school which offers three different types of study:
TECHNICAL SERVICES FOR TOURISM
SCHOOL BUSINESS
TECHNICAL GRAPHIC DESIGNER
There are about 900 students currently on roll and they are aged from
14 to 18.
There are also 80 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are
integrated in the mainstream classes.
The teaching staff is composed by about 200 teachers, 46 are specialist
teachers working with pupils with SEN.
Our school features also evening classes aimed at adults and working
students.

TECHNICAL SERVICES FOR TOURISM/SCHOOL BUSINESS :
common curriculum for the first two years. At the end of the
Biennio students choose one of the two fields.
TECHNICAL GRAPHIC DESIGNER:
subjects which are peculiar of this area are taught right from the
first year.
At the end of the third year pupils have to pass an exam in order to gain a
Certificate (Attestato di Qualifica) in their chosen area of specialisation.
They are qualified to directly enter the workforce.
After the Certificate it is possible to complete the last part and attend a
two-year course. Students undertake a State Exam which gives them an
UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL DIPLOMA and the right to attend university.
The State Exam takes place every year in June and July.

Profile
At the end of the course students will be able to
arrange photos, illustrations, texture, shapes, colour on
different types of media such as posters, brochures,
packages etc., with the use of specific graphic software
programmes (Illustrator, Photoshop).

Lessons start at 8.20 and finish at 14.20.
Break: 11.10-11.30
Our school is quite big and is situated in two different buildings, a head office,
where the headmaster’s office and administrative offices are to be found, and a
branch office.
Both the buildings are located in two different suburbs of Palermo, quite far from
the city centre.
