Royal Melbourne Show
Success
Congratulations to the Show
Team who enjoyed great
success at the Royal
Melbourne Show during the
holidays. The school won the
Grand Champion Steer in the
Hoof Competition. The same
steer was awarded Champion
School Steer. Brendan Eddy
(1st), Stephanie O’Keeffe
(2nd), Emily Kirkwood (2nd)
and Alex Duke (3rd) received ribbons in the Handlers
Competition. The younger students won numerous
ribbons showing the stud sheep. I would like to
congratulate Mr Trickett for his co-ordination and
organisation of the team and the following adult
supporters: Mrs Bowler, Mrs Dengate, Mrs Godde,
Mrs Kirkwood and Mr Salzke. Without your support
the team wouldn’t be able to participate in such
wonderful activities such as this show.
Students involved in the excursion were: Lucy
Godde, Nicholas Bowler, Annie Pumpa, Emily
Pinnuck, Joshua O’Brien, Samantha Field, April
Salzke, Stephanie O’Keeffe, Cameron PetersCrowe, Alex Duke and Brendan Eddy.

I would like to thank all the
parents
and
community
members who attended the Year
12 Graduation Ceremony on the
last day of term 3. it was a very
fitting way to recognise the
outstanding contribution that the
Year 12 students had made to Billabong High School.
The entire school community would like to wish the
students all the best in the HSC Exams which commence
next Monday 17 October.
Staff Change
Congratulations to Mr David Clancy who retired at the end
of term 3 after many years of outstanding service to NSW
Public Education and in particular, Billabong High School.
He will be replaced during this term by Mr Lindley and Mrs
Draper.
P & C Meeting
The next P & C Meeting will be held at 7.30 pm on
Tuesday 25 October. Please note the later start time of
7.30 due to daylight saving.

Billabong Highlights
Operation Christmas Child
This Christmas, through the organisation of the SRC,
Billabong High School will be participating in Operation
Christmas Child: a unique project of Samaritan’s Purse
that brings joy and hope to children in desperate
situations around the world through gift-filled shoe
boxes.
Each Reading group will be provided with a Christmaswrapped shoebox and asked to decide who their gift will
be for: girl or boy, aged between 2 and 14 years old.
Each person is able to contribute a few items to be
included in the shoebox (the SRC will provide the
postage costs).
Ideas for Shoeboxes
Something to Love
Teddy bear, doll, soft toy etc.
Something for School
Exercise book, pencil case, pens, pencils, colouring
pencils, sharpener, eraser, chalk, etc.
Something to Wear-shorts
T-shirt, underwear, cap, beanie, sandals, thongs, etc.
Something to play With
Tennis ball, cars, skipping rope, marbles, musical
instrument, yo-yo, slinky, finger puppets, wind up
torch, etc. (No battery operated items).
Something for Personal Hygiene
Soap and face washer, toothbrush, hairbrush,
comb, hair-clips, scrunchies, etc. (No
toothpaste).
Items that are not allowed:
Items that leak or melt— (these can spoil
boxes) including toothpaste, bubbles, plasticine
and batteries.
Food or lollies of any kind— (due to customs
regulations) including medicines and vitamins.
Any used or damaged items- (due to customs
regulations) including worn clothing and old toys.
Any breakable items – including glass,
porcelain and mirrors.
Any item that can scare or harm a childincluding knives, war-related toys and toy guns.
Any gambling-related items—including play
money, playing cards and dominoes.
Anything of a religious, racial or political
nature.

Rugby Men’s Choir
to Perform in Henty
Members of the award
winning Murrumbidgee Magic A Capella
Group and Men’s Rugby Choir will be
sharing their expertise with the Great Hume
Community on Saturday 15 October 2011.
All welcome.
Community Workshops
For those wanting to sing or learn about
singing in parts or just wanting to try.
