This workshop is about what is required to work effectively in the policy and operating environment of the vocational education and training sector. All participants will be given the opportunity to understand the ever changing world of VET. A range of current and up to date resources will be supplied to all attendees. The workshop will detail how potential improvements present both proactively and reactively from within the RTO and also from the wider VET sector. nHow your training product can become industry best practice through ongoing improvement nHow to create the ‘meritocracy’ that business needs to truly embrace improvement Who should attend? Everyone in an RTO from a first day trainee to the most experienced CEO who is interested in taking the journey towards excellence. We will examine the following in relation to these VET professionals: What does a ‘good’ assessment tool look like? This workshop will build an assessment tool from ‘scratch’ using the latest techniques and assessment methods. Each participant will build an assessment tool for a Unit (they will bring along), they will use templates and resources provided so as to assist them in the building of the tool, and all the appropriate assessment nRoles and responsibilities as per the TAE package nRoles and responsibilities as per AQTF nThe role of ASQA and relationship to VET practitioners nResponsibilities as stated by the new award nOther roles and responsibilities of VET business owners, such as confidentiality and so on Who should attend? This workshop will examine the requirements to be met when clustering Units of competency, using a clustering guide. The workshop will also detail how to map assessment tools so as to ensure quality, completeness and consistency in assessment processes. Specifically the workshop will examine the following: This session will be about how to perform moderation and validation processes. This will involve checking that the assessment tool can produce sufficient, current, valid and authentic evidence to enable reasonable judgements to be made as to whether the standards defined in the Training Package units have been met. During the session we will be conducting validation of real examples, with actual evidence to confirm the process.
