This U an Im portant milestone in the congressional career of Representative H. P. Ful mer of Orangeburg, as it marks 17 ears, ten months and 23 days of serv- REP. HAMPTON P. FULMER ce in the house of representatives oitger than any house member from Me Palmetto state has ever served. The Second district congressman tolay exceeded the previous service rech**M hv Fintev of York who served 17 years, ten months an<i 22 days. A service record of 17 years eight months and 26 days placed A Frank Lever of Columbia in third po sition. "When I came to congress," Mr Fulmer recalled. " 104 new members entered the Sixty-seventh congress witfc me. Mr Fulmer is now vice chairman of the house committee on agriculture an') also vice chairman of a special loin' congressional committee on forestry Because of his activity along agricul tural lines, he has a long line of farm bills to his credit. Rumors around the Capitol are that Representative Marvin Jones (Demo crat) of Texas, chairman of the com mittee on agriculture, will some time during the session receive an appoint ment as federal district judge.
