THE TIMES IN WHICH WE LIVE
We believe the Bible teaches seven great happenings which are soon to take place. They are:
• The Rapture of the Church, or, if you prefer, the Resurrection.
• The Rise of the Antichrist.
• The Great Tribulation Period.
• The Battle of Armageddon.
• The Second Coming of the Lord.

THE CHURCH AGE
We are presently living in the very closing days of the Church Age. That means the Rapture could take place very,
very shortly. In fact, the stage is being set for all of these great happenings to be brought about in this world. The
Bible is full of this information and you, as a Believer, ought to know and understand what it says about these most
important subjects. If we as Believers do not know and understand what is coming upon this world in the very near
future, then it is quite possible that we do not know too very much about what is happening now, or what has taken
place in the past. The Bible is the only Book in the world that gives us information as it regards the future. We must,
and beyond the shadow of a doubt, know what it says. This Book will help you to do just that, as nothing that’s ever
been placed in your hands, we believe.

AND YOUR SERVANT URIAH THE HITTITE IS
DEAD ALSO.”
arranging for his murder was a depth of infamy, which is
appalling.”2
To describe this scene one is unable! Adultery is
bad enough, but cold-blooded murder is something else
altogether!
When Uriah leaves his king with this letter in his
garment, and to be delivered to Joab, he has no idea
whatsoever as to what has happened. He doesn’t know
that his king has dishonored him by committing adultery
with his wife. And above all, he doesn’t know that David
had set about to cover his sin, by demanding his death. In all of the sins of man, the way this thing went
down, it would be difficult to find something that was
worse. Cold-blooded murder!
JOAB
The pattern is:
1. (Vs. 14) Uriah didn’t know it, but David had written his death warrant. It will amount to murder
in cold blood, and of one of his loyal subjects.
2. (Vs. 15) How could the man who wrote the
Twenty-third Psalm do this? Sin never betters itself. The slide is always downward. Irrespective of how holy man has been or how educated
he might be, sin is a force and power that can only be
dealt with by the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Sin is so powerful that even though God could speak
worlds into existence, still, due to His Nature, He could
not speak sin out of existence. He would have to die on
a cruel Cross, offering up Himself as a Perfect Sacrifice
in order to pay in full sin’s demands.
3. The Holy Spirit intends for us here to see not only
David’s terrible sins, but also our sins as well!
4. The wording of the Text concerning Verse 21 tells
us that Joab now knew at least something about
the situation, if not its entirety. COLD-BLOODED MURDER
Williams says, “Uriah was one of David’s mighty men
(II Sam. 23:39). To make him the bearer of the letter

As to what Joab knew about this situation, if anything, we cannot know. But the Scriptural Text seems
to indicate that he suspected something. At any rate,
he carried out David’s instructions to the letter. David
had told him bluntly, “You set Uriah in the forefront of
the hottest battle, and you retire from him, that he may be
smitten, and die.”
How awful are these words! Once again we ask the
question, “How could the sweet singer of Israel commit
such a dastardly deed?”
Even at the risk of being overly repetitious, please
allow us again to state the following:
THE CROSS OF CHRIST
• The only thing that stands between mankind and
eternal Hell is the Cross of Christ.
• The only thing that stands between the Church
and total apostasy is the Cross of Christ.
• The only thing that stands between Believers and
them once again being taken captive by Satan
is the Cross of Christ.
• The only thing that guarantees security, help, and

protection, is the Cross of Christ.
Most would look at this scenario and be quick to say, “But I would never do
that!”
Perhaps you wouldn’t! However, one thing is certain, if your Faith is not
anchored squarely in Christ and the Cross, you then become an easy target for
the Devil, and to be sure, he will most certainly take advantage of the opportunity, whatever way he does choose.
DAVID’S SIN
This terrible sin of David’s, which we are now addressing, was so evil, so
disgusting, so wicked, so ungodly, in actuality, was the result of his greater sin,
which, in essence, constitutes rebellion against God and His Way, to which
we’ve already addressed. That is where sin always begins.
WILLPOWER
. . . The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. (Ps. 119; Mat. 4:4;
Lk. 24:27)
. . . there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
(I Jn. 5:7)
. . . in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin
Birth, in His Sinless Life, in His Miracles, in His Vicarious and atoning Death, in His Bodily Resurrection,
in His Ascension to the Right Hand of the Father, in
His personal future return to this Earth in Power and
Glory to rule a thousand years. (Jn. 1:1-4; Eph. 2:13-18;
Rev., Chpts. 19-20)
. . . in the Blessed Hope — the Rapture of the Church at
Christ’s Coming. (I Thess. 4:13-18)
. . . the only means of being cleansed from sin is through
Repentance and Faith in the Precious Blood of Christ.
(Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8-9, 13-18)
. . . Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential
for personal Salvation. (Jn. 3:5-8; Titus 3:5)
. . . the Redemptive Work of Christ on the Cross provides
Healing of the human body in answer to believing
prayer. (Ex. 15:25-26; James 5:14-15; I Pet. 2:24)
. . . the Baptism with the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4
is given to Believers who ask for it. (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46;
19:1-7)
. . . in the Sanctifying Power of the Holy Spirit by Whose
indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
(Rom. 6:3-14; 8:1-2, 11)
. . . in the Resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the
one to Everlasting Life and the other to everlasting
damnation. (Rev. 20:5-6, 11-15)
THE PRICELESS CORNER
We have set aside this corner of the Evangelist to
show God’s Plan of Salvation. If you are unsure where
you will go when you die, please listen to what God has
said in His Word:
When David stood on the top of his palace, and looked over and saw Bathsheba bathing herself on the top of the house next door, because of his rebellion
against God’s Way, which was the Cross, one might say that he was past the
point of no return. Most would instantly retort by saying, “All he had to do was simply say ‘no!’”
Because David’s faith is now placed in something, probably himself, other
than the Sacrifice of Christ, the Holy Spirit is now greatly limited in what He
can do for the king. This is the manner of all sin, and with all people.
First . . . God loves you!
IS SIN A CHOICE?
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just
for the unjust, that He might bring us to God . . .” (I Pet.
3:18).
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there
is none other name under Heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Yes it is, but not exactly in the way that most think or believe. The “choice” is, “Do we subscribe to God’s Prescribed Order of Victory, or do we
set out on another course?” That’s where the choice actually is!
If we choose wrong here, and please understand that the decision is always
very subtle, then we are beyond saying “no” to whatever it is that Satan proposes. Listen to Paul:
“For that which I do (the failure) I allow not (should have been translated, ‘I
understand not’; these are not the words of an unsaved man, as some claim, but
rather a Believer who is trying and failing): for what I would, that do I not (refers
to the obedience he wants to render to Christ, but rather fails; why? as Paul
explained, the Believer is married to Christ, but is being unfaithful to Christ
by spiritually cohabiting with the Law, which frustrates the Grace of God; that
means the Holy Spirit will not help such a person, which guarantees failure
[Gal. 2:21]); but what I hate, that do I (refers to sin in his life which he doesn’t
want to do and, in fact, hates, but finds himself unable to stop; unfortunately,
due to the fact of not understanding the Cross as it refers to Sanctification, this
is the plight of most modern Christians).”
The Apostle then said, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no
good thing (speaks of man’s own ability, or rather the lack thereof in comparison
to the Holy Spirit, at least when it comes to Spiritual things): for to will is present with me (Paul is speaking here of his willpower; regrettably, most modern
Christians are trying to live for God by means of willpower, thinking falsely that
since they have come to Christ, they are now free to say ‘no’ to sin; that is the

“For God so loved the world that he gave His only
Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should
not perish, but have Everlasting Life” (Jn. 3:16).
Second . . . Man is a sinner, and sin has separated him from God!
“For there is not a just man upon Earth, that doeth
good and sinneth not” (Eccl. 7:20).
“For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of
God” (Rom. 3:23).
Third . . . Jesus Christ is the only remedy for
sin!
Fourth . . . you must receive Jesus Christ as
your personal lord and saviour.
Jesus calls this experience the “new birth.” He told
Nicodemus: “. . . Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the Kingdom of God” (Jn. 3:3).
We invite you now to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as
your personal Saviour. “But as many as received Him, to
them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to
them that believe on His Name” (Jn. 1:12).
Pray this prayer and mean it with all of your heart:
Dear Lord Jesus, I now realize that I am a sinner. I
accept the fact that You died for me on the rugged Cross
of Calvary. I now open my heart’s door and receive You
as Saviour and Lord of my life. Please take full control of
me and help me to be the kind of Christian You want me
to be. Amen.

wrong way to look at the situation; the Believer cannot
live for God by the strength of willpower; while the will is
definitely important, it alone is not enough; the Believer
must exercise Faith in Christ and the Cross, and do so
constantly; then he will have the ability and strength to
say ‘yes’ to Christ, which automatically says, ‘no’ to the
things of the world); but how to perform that which is good
I find not (outside of the Cross, it is impossible to find a
way to do good)” (Rom. 7:15, 18).
I don’t know why it is, but some preachers get
incensed, when we say that Satan can override the will
of a Believer, and make that Believer do something that
he is strongly trying not to do. Why?
Possibly it’s a matter of pride!
Paul plainly tells us that before he understood the
Message of the Cross, which in reality is the meaning
of the New Covenant, that the very thing he wanted to
do, which was to live clean before the Lord, he found he
couldn’t do. As well, what he didn’t want to do, what he
hated, he found himself doing, and despite every effort
to do otherwise. All of this is very, very clear! Satan can
override the will of a Believer, and force that Believer into
a course of action that they don’t want to take, that is, if
the Believer has made something other than the Cross
of Christ the object of his faith. Paul is reaching back into his experience with the
Lord, which, of course, followed his conversion and him
being baptized with the Holy Spirit. There was a time
frame there possibly of several years, where Paul did not
know nor understand the Message of the Cross. During
that time, he tried his best to live a godly life, but found
he couldn’t.

Romans, he full well knew and understood the meaning
of the New Covenant, because it had been given to him
by Revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ (Gal. 1:12). The
Lord, therefore, allows him to go back in his experience
and to portray his efforts for Christ before he understood
God’s Prescribed Order of Victory. And let the reader
understand, if Paul couldn’t live this life without the Cross
of Christ being the Object of his Faith, even though he
was Saved and baptized with the Holy Spirit, how do you
think that you can do what he couldn’t do?
The truth is, you can’t! And neither can anyone else,
irrespective as to whom they might be. God’s Way is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. He has
no other way, and if any Believer sets out to try to live
for God in the wrong way, which refers to living outside
of the Cross, in some way, that Believer is going to find
himself in a position similar to that of David. While most,
thank God, never fail to the degree as did David, still,
in some way sin, as we’ve already stated, will dominate
them (Rom. 6:12).
And to all who might claim that they can live a victorious life without the Cross, I again take you to Paul. He said:
“I do not frustrate the Grace of God (if we make anything other than the Cross of Christ the Object of our
Faith, we frustrate the Grace of God, which means we
stop its action, and the Holy Spirit will not help us): for
if Righteousness come by the Law (any type of Law), then
Christ is dead in vain. (If I can successfully live for the Lord
by any means other than Faith in Christ and the Cross,
then the Death of Christ was a waste)” (Gal. 2:21).
WHAT IS LAW?
If it is to be noticed in reading the Epistles of Paul, he
mentions “Law” any number of times, in fact, about 140
times, that is if he wrote the Book of Hebrews, which I
believe he did. While the word is used in several different
capacities, the Apostle mostly uses it in the realm of the
Law of Moses; however, there are times that he mentions
law, which does not refer to the Law of Moses, but other
types of laws, and sometimes in a general sense.
The idea is, the Believer is either under “Law” or
“Grace.” There’s no other place to be.
Some think that because this is the Dispensation of
Grace, and it is, that we are automatically under Grace. The truth is, most Christians, sadly and regrettably,
are frustrating the Grace of God (Gal. 2:21), and many
have even fallen from Grace (Gal. 5:4). No, Grace,
even though this is the Dispensation of Grace, is not
an automatic thing. The Evangelist
The Grace of God comes to us exclusively from Christ
by the Means of the Cross. To receive this unending
flow of Grace, and on a constant basis, it is required of
the Believer that our Faith be exclusively in the Cross of
Christ (Rom. 6:1-14; 8:1-2, 11; I Cor. 1:17-18, 21, 23; 2:2;
Gal. 6:14; Col. 2:14-15; Eph. 2:8-9). Let us say it again:
If the Believer is not functioning in Grace, which can
only be done through our Faith in Christ and the Cross,
then such a Believer is functioning under Law. Regrettably, the latter is where most modern Christians are. Most would disagree with that statement claiming
that they know that the Law of Moses has been fulfilled
in Christ, and it is no more incumbent upon Believers. The facts are, it’s not the Law of Moses to which modern
Believers are adhering, but rather laws made up by their
church, other preachers, themselves, or the religious
denomination with which they are associated. WHAT TYPE OF LAWS?
In fact, most of the laws that are made up by individuals are good. They’re not evil, they’re not bad and, in fact,
within themselves, at least some of the laws, are helpful
and beneficial. So exactly what am I talking about?
For instance, the other day over television I heard a
young preacher state, “If you want victory over a bondage
in your life, you must make it a matter of prayer and fasting.”
Now prayer and fasting are two of the greatest disciplines in the church. In fact, any Believer who has any
type of relationship with Christ must have a prayer life. Actually, that has been my mainstay through the years,
a prayer life, that which my Grandmother taught me
when I was a child. However, when we try to take one of these great attributes, these great disciplines, such as prayer and fasting,
or the Lord’s Supper, or anything else for that matter, and
try to make it function in a way that it was never intended,
we turn it into a law. Within itself it’s not a law, but if we
look at it wrong, that is if we place our faith and confidence
in that thing, then it becomes a law.
There is only one way that bondages can be broken
in one’s life, only one way that a Believer can have Victory over sin, only one way that a Believer can grow in
Grace and the knowledge of the Lord, only one way to
live for God, and that is simply by one placing one’s Faith
exclusively in Christ as the Source of all things that come
to us from God, and the Cross as the Means by which we
are given those things. But the truth is, the modern church is living under
law and doesn’t even realize it. That’s the reason for so
many failures! That’s the reason for so many Christians
having terrible problems! That’s the reason for preachers failing! That’s the reason that anyone fails for that
matter! There is no difference between preachers and the
laity. All come under the same measurement, the same
rule, which is the Cross of Christ. Listen again to Paul:
“Examine yourselves, whether you be in the Faith (the
words, ‘the Faith,’ refer to ‘Christ and Him Crucified,’ with

David, the sweet singer of Israel, the man after God’s
Own Heart, lost his way, and committed some of the most
dastardly sins in human history, simply because he took
his eyes off of Christ and the Cross, and placed his faith
in other things, whatever they might have been. Let me
say it again:

THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH
The next major Biblical event in history will be
“The Rapture of the Church.” Are you watching? Are
you ready? We believe in and teach a “pre-Tribulation
Rapture,” meaning that the Rapture will take place before
the Great Tribulation and could occur at any moment! The most vivid description of the Rapture of the Church
is given in Paul’s First Epistle to the Thessalonians: “For
the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the
Trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we who are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT
UP together with them in the clouds, to meet the
Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord” (4:16-17). The word “rapture” is actually the oneword synonym that Believers use in place of the phrase
“caught up.” In the original Greek text, the word used is
“harpazo,” meaning to “to seize upon by force,” “to snatch
up.” It was actually Latin translators who chose the word
“rapture,” from the term “raptus” meaning “to seize.” It
can imply a sudden, swift occurrence. “Rapture” is also
defined as the transporting of a person from one place
to another, such as from Earth to Heaven, and/or the
changing of a person from one state to another, such as
from a physical body to a spirit body. RAPTURE!
Now, in an effort to cast doubt upon this soon-coming
event, some have attempted to claim that “rapture” is
not a Biblical term and, therefore, not a valid part of
Bible Prophecy. Truthfully though, it is just as Biblical
as the words “God” or “Jesus.” Almost all words in our
English Bible are translations of Greek and Hebrew expressions, none of which were originally found in the
form that we have come to know them today. “God” is

a proper and meaningful translation of certain words in
the original languages, and “Jesus” is a good translation
for His Name, “Yeshua (Joshua),” meaning “the Lord saves”
in Hebrew. Likewise, the English word “rapture,” which
means, “to be caught up,” is an excellent translation for
the Greek word “harpazo.” Paul referred to the Rapture
as the “Blessed Hope” of the church: “Looking for that
Blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the Great God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). The purpose of
the Rapture will be to resurrect all of the righteous dead
from each Dispensation, reuniting the soul and spirit with
a new Glorified Body (I Cor. 15:35-55). Actually, “the
Resurrection of the Saints” is another phrase Believers
have used through the years to describe this promised
event. The righteous dead will be “caught up,” along with
all the Saints still living on the Earth, to meet the Lord in
the air and return with Him to Heaven (Jn. 14:1-3). The
Glorified Bodies we will receive will be spirit, empowered
by the Holy Spirit, rather than physical. PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE
As previously mentioned, we believe that the Bible
teaches the Rapture will occur before the Great Tribulation. “Because you have kept the Word of My Patience, I
also will keep you from the hour of temptation (the
Great Tribulation), which shall come upon all the world, to try
them that dwell upon the Earth” (Rev. 3:10). Several more
Scriptures attest to a “pre-Tribulation” rapture: “Watch
you therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted
worthy to escape all these things (the Tribulation) that
shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man”
(Lk. 21:36). “For God has not appointed us to wrath
(the Tribulation), but to obtain Salvation by our Lord Jesus
Christ” (I Thess. 5:9). “The mystery of iniquity does already

work: only he (the Church) who now lets will let, until he
be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be
revealed . . .” (II Thess. 2:7-8). “After this I looked, and,
behold, a door was opened in Heaven: and the first Voice
which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me;
which said, Come up hither, and I will show you things which
must be hereafter (after the Rapture of the Church)”
(Rev. 4:1). The above Scriptures, and plenty of others
also, demonstrate that even the New Testament Saints
were looking for the Rapture/Resurrection to occur, so
how much closer are we today? To further clarify, we
believe the sequence of these coming Endtime events will
be: first, the Rapture; second, the Great Tribulation; and
then, the Lord’s Return (“The Second Coming”). CALVARY
Now, this is not to say that prior to the Rapture, the
church will not experience persecution as the world
becomes more and more wicked, but the Great Tribulation is really about God’s Judgment upon sin. And, for
Believers, God’s Judgment was already poured out at
Calvary. Christ bore our sins in His Body on the Cross
not to be brought to our account again. They have been
forgiven and forgotten (Isa. 43:25; I Pet. 2:24). Thank
you Jesus! So, while the Earth and those still upon it
are going through the Great Tribulation, the raptured
Saints of God will be simultaneously attending events
in Heaven – namely, the Judgment Seat of Christ
(Rom. 14:10; II Cor. 5:10) and the Marriage Supper
of the Lamb (Mat. 26:29; Rev. 19:7-9). In the Book of
Revelation, note is made of those who “dwell in Heaven”
and those who “dwell on Earth.” The former group, “the
church,” will have been given our Resurrection Bodies
and will walk in the company of the Lamb and His Holy
Angels in Heaven. The latter, those “dwelling on Earth,”
include non-believers, God’s 144,000 Jewish evangelists

(regenerated men who do not yet have Resurrection
Bodies), and their converts (“the Tribulation Saints”). Many of these new Saints will become martyrs during
the Tribulation, but they will not be given their Resurrection Bodies until the Tribulation ends (Rev. 20:4).
THE DIFFERENCE IN THE RAPTURE AND THE
SECOND COMING
Many people fail to distinguish between the
Rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of
Christ. The chart below gives a brief contrast:

ISRAEL
Only one Archangel, Michael, is called by name in
Scripture and his specific jurisdiction is over the people
of Israel. At the time of the Rapture, he will signal to
Israel that God has at last returned His Focus to the final
Redemption of His chosen Nation. This event was spoken
of by Daniel: “And at that time shall Michael stand up,
the great prince which stands for the children of your
people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as
never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
and at that time your people shall be delivered, every one
who shall be found written in the Book” (Dan. 12:1). The
phrase, “A time of trouble, such as never was since there
was a nation even to that same time,” is the same thing
Jesus would later say. It concerns the last three and a
half years of the Tribulation. Matthew 24:21 states: “For
then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since

the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever
shall be.” This will be worst tribulation the world has
ever known – so bad that it will never again be repeated. Matthew 24:22 states: “And except those days should be
shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the Elect’s
sake those days shall be shortened.” Israel will come close
to extinction, but God’s Love for His People will cause
Him to shorten the days with the Second Coming of the
Lord. “For as the lightning cometh out of the east,
and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. For wheresoever the carcass
is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the
stars shall fall from Heaven, and the powers of the Heavens
shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the
Son of Man in Heaven: and then shall all the tribes of
the Earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming
in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory. And He
shall send His Angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and
they shall gather together His Elect from the four winds, from
one end of Heaven to the other” (Mat. 24:27-31).
So, at the time that Jesus calls His Church out of the
world (the Rapture of the Church and not the Second
Coming) three specific events take place:
1. The Call of Command from the lips of Jesus to
awaken the dead in Christ and bring them forth
from their graves, just as Jesus called His Friend
Lazarus forth (Jn. 11:43).
2. The Archangel’s call to Israel that God’s Focus has
returned to Israel (Dan. 12:1).
3. The trumpet call (not to be confused with the last
seven trumpets in Revelation) is a trumpet call associated with the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles and
will be used to call the living Saints at the time
of the Rapture. This is described in I Corinthians
15:50-58: “Now this I say, Brethren, that flesh and
blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither
does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show
you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality. So when this
corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this
mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be
brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in Victory. O death, where is your
sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of
death is sin; and the strength of sin is the Law. But
thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved Brethren,
be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the
Work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your
labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

NO MORE MORTALITY, NO MORE SIN NATURE
Praise God, the Rapture will bring the completed
manifestation of Christ’s Finished Work for us at Calvary! For the Believer, the Rapture is Independence
Day! Once and for all, we will be totally and completely
freed from our corrupted nature, freed from all effects of sin! Glory to God! Let’s take a closer look at the events taking place in
Heaven (which parallel the events of the Tribulation on
Earth). All Believers must appear before the Judgment
Seat of Christ according to II Corinthians 5:10. Remember this is not for the purpose of dealing with sin, however,
a careful ledger has been kept of every work the Believer
has performed since he became a Christian (Mat. 12:36;
Rom. 14:12; II Cor. 5:10).
Believers will be judged on the basis of:
1. Doctrinal Beliefs – true or false (Rom. 2:14-16;
14:1-10).
2. Conduct toward others – kind or unkind (Mat.
18:10; Mk. 9:41; II Tim. 4:14).
3. Stewardship – faithful or unfaithful (Mat. 25:1429; Lk. 12:42-44; I Cor. 4:1-5).
4. Words – good or bad (Mat. 12:36-37; Eph. 4:29).
5. Talents – used or wasted (Mat. 5:15-16; Mk. 4:25).
6. Attitudes – Christlike or selfish (Mat. 6:1-7; Eph.
4:30-32).
7. Motives – right or wrong (Mat. 6:16-18; Lk.
14:12-14).
8. Traits – Spiritual or carnal (Rom. 2:1-6; Col.
3:8-16).
9. Every Deed – worthy or worthless (Mk. 9:41; Col.
3:23-25).
The deeds performed in a worthy manner will be rewarded, but those deeds Christ judges unworthy will
be burned and will cause the Believer lost rewards
(I Cor. 3:12-15).

Luke 4:16-18 – “And He came to Nazareth, where
He had been brought up (makes vivid the fact that
Jesus was Very Man, even as He was Very God): and,
as His custom was (in our language presently He was
faithful to Church), He went into the Synagogue on
the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read (it was
common to ask visitors to expound on the Word).
“And there was delivered unto Him the Book
(Scroll) of the Prophet Isaiah. And when He had
opened the Book, He found the place where it was
written (Isa. 61:1),
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (we learn
here of the absolute necessity of the Person and
Work of the Holy Spirit within our lives), because
He has anointed Me (Jesus is the ultimate Anointed
One; consequently, the Anointing of the Holy Spirit
actually belongs to Christ, and the Anointing we
have actually comes by His Authority [Jn. 16:14]) to
preach the Gospel to the poor (the poor in spirit); He
has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted (sin breaks
the heart, or else is responsible for it being broken;
only Jesus can heal this malady), to preach Deliverance to the captives (if it is to be noticed, He didn’t
say to ‘deliver the captives,’ but rather ‘preach Deliverance’ which refers to the Cross [Jn. 8:32]), and
recovering of sight to the blind (the Gospel opens
the eyes of those who are Spiritually blind), to set
at liberty them who are bruised (the vicissitudes of
life at times place a person in a mental or Spiritual
prison; the Lord Alone, and through what He did
at the Cross, can open this prison door).”
Last month I dealt with the first part of Christ’s statement “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me.” I feel it is
necessary to recap a few important points:
1. You can’t separate the Holy Spirit from the Life and

Ministry of Jesus Christ. Everything the Lord did
while on Earth was as a man full of the Holy Spirit.
2. Luke 4:1 says, “And Jesus being full of the Holy
Spirit.” The word “full” means “without measure” and “to be in complete control.” The Holy
Spirit desires to be in total and absolute control
of our lives.
3. He was “led by the Spirit” (Lk. 4:1), meaning “continually being led” by the Spirit. The Spirit desires
to have control in order to continually lead us in
our walk with the Lord.
4. Luke 4:14 says, “Jesus returned in the Power of
the Holy Spirit.” Power in the Greek is “dunamis”
and means “Miracle-working Power.” This was His
Strength, the Power of the Holy Spirit, and it must
be our strength as well.
The Anointing
Now we come to the subject of our Text, “He has
anointed Me.” This statement was a Spiritual Anointing.
This statement also tells us that the Anointing of the Holy
Spirit belongs to Christ and not man.
By that I mean man cannot give the anointing to other
men, that is the domain of the Lord alone. We often see
on TV a preacher telling people he can impart whatever
degree of anointing he supposedly has to others, usually
for a fee. This is false and it is sin. The anointing is not
a commodity that can be sold, but it is a Work of Grace
and of the Spirit given to men by the Lord according to
the hunger and consecration of the individual.
The Need For Today
The great need for the church today is preachers who
have the Anointing of the Holy Spirit upon their lives and

ministry. It’s sad, but too much that is presented as the
Gospel is nothing more than man’s intellect at best and
shamanism at worst.
Education and intellect will not set the captive free.
Good humor and a pleasing personality will not see the
sick healed. What is needed are preachers who have the
Anointing of the Holy Spirit upon them; men and women
who, when they preach, proclaim the Oracles of God; and,
men and women who preach the Truth of God’s Word
with conviction and without fear.
“To Preach The Gospel”
The anointing is needed to carry out specific tasks.
In the case of the Lord, He was anointed “to preach the
Gospel.” Preaching means to proclaim or herald. It
doesn’t necessarily refer to style or animation, but to
content. What one has to say is more important than
how one says it. Never forget the Holy Spirit always has
something to say, and it’s our responsibility to hear His
Voice and then to deliver what He wanted said. The word
“Gospel” means “Good News,” the “Good News” of God’s
Word taken to the heart of souls in need of help.
As a Minister of the Gospel I am a “Watchman” (Ezek.
3:17; 33:7). I am not a diplomat, I am not a politician, I am
a proclaimer of God’s Word. It is my job to stand upon
the wall of the church and to sound the alarm. I don’t
preach what I think will make me popular, rich, famous,
etc., but I am to preach “Thus saith the Lord” regardless
of whether it’s accepted or rejected.
The church has lost its way because of what is being
preached and because the anointing has been lost. You
can tell the Spiritual condition of a denomination by the
caliber of the preachers it produces.
What Type Of “Gospel” Was Jesus Speaking of?
The answer to that can be summed up by Jesus Saves,
Jesus Heals, Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus
is Coming Soon.
All preaching should focus upon Who Jesus is and
what Jesus has done and will do in people’s hearts. The
True Gospel of Jesus Christ includes Salvation for the
soul, Healing for the body, and the overcoming Power
and Victory by the Holy Spirit for the Believer. Let us
seek the Lord for His Anointing in order to help humanity find its way.

There is no one else, outside my parents, or the Lord
for that matter, who has influenced my life as you have
Brother Swaggart. I want to thank you for your diligence
and perseverance in your walk with the Lord. I was Saved
during your Service in Jackson, Michigan, in 1975 at the
age of eight. I lost my brother when I was 15 years old,
my parents were divorced, and my Dad moved away to
Chicago, all in the same year. It was all very devastating
to me. There wasn’t much I had left to hold onto except
the Lord’s Promise that He loved me. I also had a tape
of yours from a sermon you gave in 1969 in Detroit, and
the sermon was entitled, “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?”
No sermon on the face of this earth influenced me more
growing up as much as that one did. I wore out many a
tape recorder playing that tape. I carried it all over the
streets of the city where I lived at the age of eight, and
would weep, because I knew that every bit of that sermon
was for me. The Holy Spirit is so powerful!
I visited your church six years ago. We were on our
way home, and had seen so many accidents on the road
and decided to call your number to see if there was a
place we could stay. We were put up in the Bluebonnet
Towers, and we were greeted by the nicest person. We
were so relieved to get off the streets and have a place to
rest for the night. We got up the next morning and had
breakfast and came to the Church Service that morning.
There’s no mistaking the Presence of the Lord is there at
Family Worship Center.

The Expositor’s New Testament
A few months ago I felt the Lord was speaking to me
to give The Expositor’s New Testament, which I carried in
my purse, to a lady that worked in the bakery department
of my supermarket. I was not sure if it was the Lord or
just me, but I asked her one Saturday if she would accept
the New Testament. I also mentioned that I was not sure
if it was the Lord or just me. She said it WAS the Lord,
and she was going through a hard period. I asked her if
she had accepted the Lord as her Saviour, and she said she
had and was also filled with the Spirit with the evidence
of speaking in other Tongues. When she went home and
showed it to her husband, he asked her where she got it.
She told him, and he said he sure would like to have the
complete Bible. Well, I had one here at my home, and
the following week I gave it to her. She was so excited
for her husband, and he was so happy to get it. I also
told her they could get the Program over the Internet and
watch the “live” Services on Wednesdays and Sundays,
and on TV as well. I am so glad that I listened when the
Lord said to pass on The Expositor’s New Testament.

“FAITH THAT STANDS IN THE POWER OF GOD”

I Corinthians 2:4-5 – “And my speech and my
preaching was not with enticing words of man’s
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and
of Power:
“That your Faith should not stand in the wisdom
of men, but in the Power of God.”
A Supernatural Supply
Biblical Christianity demands more of a human being
than any human being can supply. The Christian life is
not just a matter of will power, or philosophy, or a desire
to do good. The Christian is asked to become something
he or she is not and to overcome things that he or she (in
their own natural abilities) cannot. If these statements
are right, and they are, that means that the Believer must
somehow obtain a supernatural supply, a supernatural
power source by which they might accomplish the task
of becoming and exhibiting true Christianity. Thus,
Christianity is not just a philosophy or an occasional act
of worship. True Christianity requires that the Believer
tap into God’s Supply of the Holy Spirit, Who ministers
to us the supply of the Spirit.
The Church At Corinth
The Church at Corinth was experiencing great troubles.
They had man-made division among themselves (Chpt. 1).
They were carnal (Chpt. 3). They had leadership that lived
in open rebellion to the morality of God (Chpt. 5). As
well, and at the root of their problems, the majority had
rejected Paul’s teachings as to how to live for God. In an
effort to correct these problems, Paul charges the Church
to return to the basic message by which, and in which,
they were established. He reminds them that while he
was in their midst, founding the Church there (for some
eighteen months), he had preached a specific message. His
message to them was all about Christ and Him Crucified

(see I Cor. 2:2). In saying this, one should recognize the
power and the far reaching affect of the right message
being preached. This message established the Church and
it would now be used to correct the Church. Ultimately it is
this same message that has the intrinsic ability to maintain
the Church; for it is this message alone by which the Power
of God becomes available and manifests in the life of the
Believer. Paul saw all the problems and proclaimed that
a return to the message he preached would produce all
that God desired in the local Church.
Return To The Basics
Anytime a great team (in any sport) begins to lose more
than they win, there is a distinct cry that comes from any
good coach. That cry is, let’s return to the basics. Let’s
practice the fundamentals that brought us victory and
success in the first place. Evidently, somewhere along the
way we have left off the basics that made us successful.
Today, the Church of Jesus Christ is being called back to
the basics. We have so many unscriptural approaches to
victory that it is appalling. Failure in personal lives and
corporate fellowships to accomplish the Plan of God is
plain for the simply observant to see. Our evangelistic
thrusts onto foreign soil with men and women preaching the uncompromising Gospel have been replaced by
“good-will” projects and efforts of man to relieve some
suffering. I commend any effort to help mankind, but the
real need of humanity is Salvation. A lost soul can easily go
to Hell on a full stomach. That’s not what God intended.
Therefore, we need to return to the basics of the Scriptures
that made us a powerful force for God in times past. We
need to once again tap into the supernatural supply.

Paul denounced any other message as a message that
had been concocted in the mind of religious man. He

denounced philosophies and wisdom that came from
men’s minds. He knew that even though they sounded
good and stirred the soul, they had no long lasting supernatural supply. These false ways of man could not
live up to the demands of changing a person’s habits,
head, or heart. However, Paul also knew that basic trust
in God’s Redemption Plan would bring the Moving and
Operation of the Holy Spirit, to those who believed. That
is why He determined (made a moral decision) to preach
only one message. He pointed Believers to Faith in the
Finished Work of Christ at Calvary. He understood that
Faith placed there gave the Spirit of God the legal right
to work and perform in the heart and life of the one
believing properly. He said in our Text that he desired
Believers to be buttressed by the Power of God so that
their Faith (and the Believers themselves) might stand in
the supernatural supply of God. Do you have that supply today? Are you receiving the help you need from
God to live this Christian life? If not, then look closely
at what you are depending upon. If you’re Faith is in
the right Object, Christ and Him Crucified, then you will
have a supernatural supply and your Faith will stand in
the Power of God. If you don’t trust in the Cross to supply
your need, your need will not be met! Let’s get back to
basics and trust in the Cross and what Jesus accomplished
for us there!

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAME UPON SAUL
I Samuel 11: 6-7 – “And the Spirit of God came upon
Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled
greatly (the only answer to Satan is the ‘Spirit of God,’ Who
works exclusively within the framework of the Finished
Work of Christ [Jn. 14:16-17]; Saul was angry, and Believers
today should likewise be angry at the threats of Satan).
“And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in
pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts (borders)
of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever
comes not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it
be done unto his oxen (in other words, the enemy would
take everything they had). And the fear of the LORD fell
on the people, and they came out with one consent (if
the modern church cannot agree on anything else, surely
it can agree on the fact that Satan is making havoc of
God’s People; the only answer to that is the Cross [11:15;
Gal. 6:14])”.
As soon as the Children of Israel heard the proposal of Nahash
the Ammonite, they desired to have at least seven days to try and find
someone who would lead them in a different direction, and because
Nahash was so sure of himself, he agreed to this. As word began to
spread through the camp, Saul heard these threats, and the Bible tells
us that the Spirit of God came upon him and a righteous anger was
kindled inside of him. “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD”
Let me stop right here and address this situation. What happened
to Saul at this time is the answer for all things, “the Spirit of God.” Without the Spirit of the Lord, the Youth Group is nothing more than a
hangout. Without the Spirit of the Lord, young people cannot be Saved,
their lives cannot be changed, and they cannot receive the Baptism
with the Holy Spirit with the Evidence of speaking with other Tongues. In other words, without the Spirit of the Lord we are no match for the
powers of Darkness. In order for the Spirit of the Lord to work in our
lives, we must operate totally and completely in God’s Way and His Way
only. Our way cannot, nor will it, work, for it is totally insufficient and
will cause us many problems in our lives. God’s Way is the Cross of
Christ. God’s Way will always be the Cross of Christ. For it is through
the Cross of Christ that the Holy Spirit can work in our lives the Way
that He wants too.

THE POWERS OF DARKNESS
The worst thing in the world is when men and women run the Youth
Group and ignore the Spirit of the Lord. Unfortunately, this is exactly
what is taking place today. Without the Spirit of the Lord working in
our Youth Groups, we do not have anything that can stand up to the
attacks of the enemy. I stated this many times before, so forgive my
repetition. But, our young people are facing the powers of Darkness like
no other generation has before in our history. Everything is accessible
and is right at their fingertips. Do you realize that the number one
searched word on the Internet for Elementary School students is the
word “Porn”? Think about what I’ve just stated. These kids are being
bombarded by the powers of Darkness in order to destroy their lives
before they even begin to understand life. Satan is doing everything
within his power to destroy this generation of young people.
THE CROSS OF CHRIST
The only answer, and I mean the only Answer, is the Cross of Christ. The Cross of Christ is not one of many answers, but the only Answer
that will break every bondage of sin. And when we look to the Cross
of Christ, the Holy Spirit, Who is God, can begin to work on our behalf
to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. The Church is the
Church simply because of the Moving and the Operation of the Holy
Spirit, once again, Who works within the framework of the Cross of
Christ. Minus the Holy Spirit, the modern Youth Group is nothing more
than a hangout. But, with the Moving and Operation of the Holy Spirit,
it becomes a living, breathing dynamo. But sadly, and regrettably, the
modern Youth Group has left the Cross, and has left the Moving and
Operation of the Holy Spirit, and has begun to follow after the moving
of man, which is woefully insufficient against the powers of Darkness.
WE WILL HAVE VICTORY OVER SATAN, OR HE WILL HAVE
VICTORY OVER US
As Saul heard what was happening, “he took a yoke of oxen,
and hewed them in pieces,” meaning he cut the yoke of oxen into
several pieces, and sent them throughout the land of Israel by way
of several messengers. By doing this, Saul was telling the people of
Israel that if they did not join together with Saul in order to fight the

He said:
“Papaw, we are constantly getting requests for these, and
I think you ought to allow me to re-release them.” I gave
my okay, and I am thrilled at the results. I believe you will
be too.
These Recordings will bring back many pleasant memories. It’ll be something that you’ll want to keep until the
Lord comes.
The other day, Gabriel brought into my office a copy of
the first Album that I made. It was recorded in 1960, which
means it’s fifty years old. The other three are very similar.
At any rate, he said, “I want you to hear this!”
I couldn’t believe my ears when the CD began to play. I
hadn’t heard it in possibly thirty years. Of course, the Recording fifty years ago was a lot different than it is now. However,
and this is most important, “THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY
SPIRIT IS STILL THERE.”

SONLIFE TELEVISION
We are elated, we are thrilled, we are jumping up
and down with joy, in other words, we are happy at the
response that we’re getting from the SONLIFE TELEVISION NETWORK. It’s television 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. We are already on Cable Systems all over the
nation, and adding more almost on a weekly basis. I
firmly believe that God is going to use this Network,
coupled with SONLIFE RADIO, to touch this world for
Christ. I believe that with all of my heart.
THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS
Our Lord told us to hear what the Spirit is saying to
the churches. I believe THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS,
is what the Spirit is now saying. In fact, I’m going to go
down on record as saying, I know that is what the Holy
Spirit is saying. According to the Apostle Paul, the CROSS
OF CHRIST is the GOSPEL (I Cor. 1:17). It is, as well, God’s
Answer to Victory over the world, the flesh, and the Devil
(Gal. 6:14). As well, Paul also said that the preaching
of the Cross is the Power of God (I Cor. 1:18). All of this
is so true, that Paul also said, “I determined not to know
anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him Crucified”
(I Cor. 2:2).
How much plainer can it be? YOUR PLACE AND POSITION IN THE WORK
OF GOD
While preaching one Sunday morning some time ago
at Family Worship Center, I believe the Lord spoke to my
heart and stated, “The Cross of Christ alone holds back the

Judgment of God on this nation.” When you look at your
Bible all the way from Genesis through Revelation, we
find quickly that the Cross of Christ alone, typified by
animal sacrifices in the Old Testament, stops the Judgment of God.
This means that you who understand this Message,
and have embraced it, are alone holding back the Judgment of God on this nation. That’s quite a statement, but
I believe it to be true. For His Own Reasons, the Lord has
chosen you to be a recipient of this great Word that is the
single most important Message on the face of the Earth.
FULL CIRCLE
Please note the following:
The Early Church after the death of the Apostles, and
those who followed them, gradually went into apostasy. Over a period of 500 years, it gradually morphed into
that which we now know as the Catholic Church. In fact,
no one was referred to as a Pope until the early 600’s. In
the 1500’s, the great Reformation under Martin Luther
took place, which once again placed the church on the
foundation of “Justification by Faith.” In the 1700’s and
1800’s, the great Holiness Revivals touched the world, and
especially the United States. At the turn of the Twentieth
Century, the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit took
place in this nation and around the world. From then
until now, it is believed that over 500 million people have
been baptized with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence
of speaking with other Tongues. This great Pentecostal
move, of which this Ministry, and I speak of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, has helped to touch this world for Christ.
In 1997, the Lord gave me a Revelation of the Cross
of Christ, which has changed my life, my world, and my
Ministry. It was not new, actually that which had been
given to the Apostle Paul. It came in three parts:
1. The sin nature – what it means.
2. The Cross of Christ, which alone is the answer to
the sin nature.

3. How the Holy Spirit works in all of this.
HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS
The church has known and understood some things
about the sin nature, and some have understood the
preeminence of the Cross in all of this; however, as far as
I know, the church has not known nor understood what
Paul taught as it regards how the Holy Spirit works in all
of this. In the Revelation which the Lord has given me,
our Lord through His Grace included this information. As simple as it might be, it is not understood by most.
The Holy Spirit works exclusively within the parameters of the Finished Work of Christ, i.e., “the Cross.” The
principal Passage is found in Romans 8:2. It is the Cross
of Christ that has given the Holy Spirit the legal means
to work as He does. And it must ever be understood,
that whatever we need from the Lord, and whatever it
is that He does with us, it is all done by and through
the Holy Spirit. We must have His constant Help, which
we desperately need, meaning that He Alone can carry
out in our lives that which must be done (Rom. 8:11;
Eph. 2:13-18). It only requires that we place our Faith
exclusively in Christ and what He did for us at the Cross
(Rom. 6:3-5; I Cor. 1:17-18, 23; 2:2). All of this means
that now it has come full circle. In other words, what
the Lord gave to the Apostle Paul, and which Paul gave
to us in his Epistles, is now being preached and proclaimed in totality. As a result, churches are springing
up everywhere, preaching “the Message of the Cross.” And if America has any hope at all, this is it.
the Word of God, as it refers to the Message of the Cross,
is valuable indeed! Every one of you needs to get the
Books that we’re offering. They are easy to read, and
have a world of information.

a few months, what it has taken others decades to accomplish. And, of course, unless the Lord works miracle

And because Scripture clearly indicates that it is possible for someone else to take our crown (Rev. 3:11), it
behooves every Christian to be diligent in his service to
the King of kings! Believers will also be given a mansion
in which to live eternally (Jn. 14:2), and Christ will
determine the amount of earthly rulership to give each
Saint based on his faithfulness to God in this present life
(Lk. 19:12-26). Believers will reign as kings and priests
with Christ forever (Rev. 1:6; 5:10). Following the Judgment Seat of Christ will be the
Marriage Supper of the Lamb. This speaks of the Bride
of Christ, all the redeemed from every Dispensation who
will live in the New Jerusalem. “Let us be glad and rejoice,
and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is
come, and His Wife has made herself ready. And to
her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen,
clean and white: for the fine linen is the Righteousness of
Saints. And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are they which
are called unto the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
And he said unto me, These are the true sayings of God”
(Rev. 19:7-9). What a time of reunion, celebration, and
worship Believers have in store! Are you ready? Are you in a committed, Covenant
relationship with Christ? Are you a Bride adorned for
her Husband? Is your heart singing, “. . . when I hear that
last trumpet sound, my feet won’t stay on the ground”? If
your answers are “yes,” then, as my husband often says,

Ammonites, that they would be completely and utterly destroyed. All
of this had a Spiritual meaning attached to it: what Saul was saying,
in essence, was that we will have Victory over Satan, or Satan will
have victory over us.
We must understand that, as mentioned above, the only answer
to the powers of Darkness is the Cross of Christ. We must also understand that if we do not have the Victory over Satan, that he will have
victory over us, plain and simple. Jesus said, “The thief comes not
but for to steal, kill, and to destroy,” which means that Satan
wants nothing more than to completely destroy us, and he will stop
at nothing to see that this happens. Once again, let me say that the
only answer is the Cross of Christ, which allows the Holy Spirit to work
in our lives to a far greater degree than before.
“THE POWER OF GOD”
That is why Paul said, “For the preaching (Message) of the
Cross is to them who perish foolishness (Spiritual things cannot be discerned by unredeemed people, but that doesn’t
matter; the Cross must be preached just the same, even as
we shall see); but unto us who are Saved it is the Power
of God. (The Cross is the Power of God simply because it
was there that the total sin debt was paid, giving the Holy
Spirit, in Whom the Power resides, latitude to work mightily
within our lives)” (I Cor. 1:18).
Sin is not merely slight error on the part of man, nor is man slightly
unbalanced, but man is altogether going in the wrong direction, bound
by the powers of Darkness, with no way of freeing himself. No matter
how good he might be, or educated, there is no power on the part
of man to set himself free from the power of Darkness. That is why
the Cross of Christ is of such importance, for without the Cross, there
is no Salvation, nor is there any Sanctification. The Gospel of Jesus
Christ is the only Power that can set the captive free. And yes, it is for
the young people of today. Many will say that the young people do
not need the Cross of Christ, but they need something else. No! God
Forbid that we preach anything other than the Cross of Christ. This
answer for our young people is the same answer for the Adults, and
that is the Cross of Christ, which, once again, allows the Holy Spirit to
work in our lives to do for us what needs to be done.
