Airport
Ability to have the access to the internet is attractive as it is easier for the airplane passengers to access internet
or their office intranet by VPN during the flight. Normally broadband access using satellite solution is too
expensive for passenger to enjoy such communication. A cost-effective way for airplane wireless broadband is
desired by airline.
At the airport, between the ground crew, flight crew
member and dispatcher, voice call is the traditional
way for airport dispatching and communication.
Nowadays with the fast growing number of
passenger traveled by airplane, airports have to face
several challenges: handling the increasing number
of passengers, freight, and baggage in an efficient
and cost-effective way and response to incident
quickly etc.
Solution
Huawei eWBB wireless solution for airplane deploys high-speed optimized LTE base station along the flyway,
AAU (air plane access unit) is installed onboard the plane. After airplane take off a wireless broadband channel
is established between AAU and LTE base station. AAU provides wireline LAN (Ethernet) service inside the cabin
for internet access and other value-added service access.

Huawei is providing eWBB FDD solution for China mainland flyway broadband wireless coverage, the frequency
band is 962~975MHz uplink and 1037.5~1058MHz downlink. Through the ultra-high broadband access

Huawei is providing TianJin airport wireless broadband network with eWBB TDD solution, the working
frequency band is 1785~1805MHz. The wireless broadband covers entire airport, including dispatch center,
parking apron, terminal, lounge and employee dormitory, etc.
One system delivers PTT, voice call, video conference, video surveillance and positioning service for the airline
stewardess, ground crew, aircraft maintenance staff and dispatcher.

With railway transport fast development, the simple voice and limited data bandwidth services can not satisfy
the high-speed data requirement both from train operators and passengers. The consistent ability to connect
to work space from outside the office environment and continue working while travelling is attractive for many
business travelers. For train operators, a more flexible way to guarantee train operation safety is becoming more
and more important.
Inland water transport, including rivers and canals, links hundreds and thousands of towns and areas of
industrial concentration. The application of information and communication technologies on inland waterways
will significantly increase the safety and efficiency of transport by inland waterway.
Solution
Huawei eWBB HRC (High-speed Railway Communication) solution is designed dedicated for railway industry.
For train operation safety, track surveillance for driver to be aware of the railway condition, and the diagnostic
information can be transmitted between the train and ground. For passenger information system, passengers
on board can get the timely travel information, enjoy the internet surfing during the trip or even make watch
real-time TV.

Shenhua Group, China's largest coal company, has a total railway mileage of 1792 km. With the railway annual
transport volume increased year by year, the needs of proprietary high security, high reliability of railway wireless
broadband communication system is becoming increasingly urgent. Huawei is providing E2E eWBB TDD E2E
solution for Shenhua Group, the frequency band is 1785 ~ 1795MHz. After the network is completed, Shenhua
Group will harvest PTT, train operation information, real-time video surveillance and many more service within
only one eWBB TDD network.

Oilfield
Smart Grid equipments are usually located in dense or remote areas. On one hand the AMI is spread out on
the dense city area, moreover grid authorities always have difficulties to dig ditches for deploying fiber in such
area; On the other hand the distribution grids are stretched out for thousands of kilometers across land and
mountains with only limited monitoring or control capabilities.
Oilfield locations are always dispersed in largely remote areas of plains, deep desert and seabed. It has to cope
with extreme conditions such as high temperature, heavy snow, strong wind, storm and sandstorms. For regular
management, oil companies must collect critical data from remote well sites, offshore drilling platforms, and
outlying production locations to monitor facilities, such as storage tanks, pumping stations, or pipelines.
In such condition, the traditional wired network costs will beyond the reasonable economic range, however,
wireless network solution is a much more feasible and economically legitimate for oilfield customers.
