FAITH IN ACTION
Theresa E. Ruzicka, CPA
President, Catholic Charities of St. Louis
Dear Friends of Catholic Charities:
It has been an exciting time since I assumed the president role in March of
2014! Thank you for your continued support of Catholic Charities through our
transition period. For 102 years, Catholic Charities has been a part of the St.
Louis community. Even in times of change, we have continued our work helping
over 147,000 individuals a year. Now is the time to look forward.
Many people do not realize that Catholic Charities is actually a federation of eight
agencies and that most of the people we serve are not Catholic. Our work is
FAITH IN ACTION.
We will continue building capacity in our agencies so that they continue
the important work of serving clients. Catholic Charities is focused on
collaboration, innovation and communication across the Federation to
achieve our common goals. We are currently engaged in a strategic planning
process to aid us in setting priorities and goals for the future. We are working
together as a team to reach those who need us most.
There are individuals in need in every corner of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Clients come to us from all 11 counties in the greater St. Louis area, and we
continue to assess our geographic reach so that no person goes unserved
and no cry unanswered.
There are many young Catholics looking for a way to live their faith through their
daily work. This summer we launched a Young Professionals Group to engage
younger supporters and provide them opportunities to become more involved in
the mission of Catholic Charities.
Thank you for sharing your blessings with Catholic Charities of St. Louis
and believing in our mission. When you make the decision to support an
organization, you want assurance that your gift will have an impact and will be
used to help those who need it. When you support Catholic Charities, your gift
DOES make a difference.
May God bless you,
Theresa E. Ruzicka, CPA
President, Catholic Charities of St. Louis

A Stronger Community
Friends:
Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support. Catholic Charities continues
to serve those who need us most. We continue our commitment to quality
programs; we have strengthened our financials; and we are collaborating on
community responses to challenging issues. Together, we are changing lives for
the better and building a stronger St. Louis.
This past year:
• Catholic Charities and its eight organizations helped 147,000 individuals
break the cycle of poverty, abuse and neglect, supporting people to make
permanent changes in their lives and empowering people to lead selfsufficient, dignified lives.
• We received accreditation from the Council on Accreditation through 2017,
receiving two commendations for exemplary work during the process.
• Our new President, Theresa Ruzicka, fostered a strong initiative of
communication and cooperation among the agencies while lending her
prudent business acumen to the functioning of our agencies.
• Our eight agencies continued to build on their 100-year legacy assisting
those in need be they homeless, hungry, orphan or aged. We are very
proud of these agencies. They are comprised of heroes who daily practice
the teachings of Our Lord.
2
Catholic Charities accomplishes great things. You should be proud of their
achievements. I know I am.
Allow me to express gratitude for your financial and spiritual support, on behalf
of the Catholic Charities board, volunteers, clients and staff. Thank you for your
continued prayers, and may God bless you and your family.

The Community
FAMILIES
CHILDREN
WOMEN
Catholic Charities is
committed to healthy,
strong families. We
provide housing &
homeless services,
counseling & psychiatry,
case coordination,
family education, legal
representation, and direct
assistance, which enable
families to break the
bonds of poverty.
We provide adoption &
foster care, and infant &
child services for 16,000
children a year. Through
emergency placement,
foster care, adoption,
and residential programs,
we help find children a
safe and stable place to
call home. By offering
maternity and pregnancy
services to teen moms,
we help babies and their
families get the best
possible start. Through
counseling & psychiatry,
tutoring, and schoolbased programs, we
empower youth to
make good choices
and encourage their
development and growth.
We offer women a safe
haven from domestic
violence, and a
supportive environment
to overcome addiction.
We impact approximately
20,800 women each
year through services
like case management,
counseling & psychiatry,
healthcare, housing &
homeless assistance,
and job training. We
offer maternity and
pregnancy services for
teen moms and those
in crisis pregnancies,
to help ensure babies
are born healthy and
help new mothers and
their children begin their
lives together. Through
social growth programs
we empower women to
become leaders in their
own lives and in their
community.

Organizations:
OUR ORGANIZATIONS
The Central Office provides
mission-driven, centralized
services for the eight
organizations that make
up the Catholic Charities
Federation, including:
advocacy, accreditation,
human resources,
communications,
quality assurance,
fund development, and
strategies for collaborative
systems. Last year alone,
the Advocacy Department
engaged 22 parishes
in conversations on
poverty, the Central Office
Development Department
raised $1.02 million for
the Annual Fund and
channeled $1.34 million
in donations directly to
our organizations, and
the Quality Improvement
Department held 16
professional development
workshops with over 750
participants. Through
support like this, the
Federation can continue
to fulfill requirements in
non-program functions,
identify synergies, eliminate
inefficiencies, and make
serving people in need
and strengthening our
community their highest
priorities.
We Serve
OLDER ADULTS
MEN
Our programs for
older adults foster
independence, social
growth, and mental
and physical wellbeing.
We offer a spectrum of
housing services (from
independent living
to skilled nursing),
emergency assistance,
counseling, extensive
community services to
keep seniors in their
homes safely, and case
management, so that
the 34,700 older adults
we serve each year have
the resources they need
to live with comfort and
dignity.
We impact approximately
11,000 men each year
through services like case
coordination, counseling
& psychiatry, substance
abuse treatment,
healthcare, housing &
homeless assistance,
legal assistance, and
job training. These
programs empower men
to be positive role models
for their children, and
encourage resilience in
the face of hardship.
Organizations:
IMMIGRANTS &
REFUGEES
Services for immigrants
and refugees include
resettlement, housing
assistance, employment
and job training,
legal representation,
translation and
interpretation, which
are critical for families
establishing a new life
in a new country, and
to become contributing
members in their
community.
VETERANS
Our programs serve
1,600 veterans each year
who need our support
following the physical
and emotional trauma
of war. By eliminating
barriers to accessing
benefits, re-uniting
families, and treating
the scars of battle, we
give hope to those who
have sacrificed their own
safety for ours.
