Acrylic and Oil Painting
In this class, you can pursue and further your
talents in the painting mediums of acrylic and oils
while being surrounded by a creative atmosphere.
Art has been Chris’s main focus throughout his 28
years. He prefers acrylic only because he does not
have the patience to wait for oils to dry! His plan
for the near future is to finish school and become
an art teacher. Expect to pay $65 - $90 for beginner supplies if you don’t have anything. You can
e-mail convener before class for a supply list.

Painting: The Love of
Color
When you were a child did you love opening that
new box of Crayolas? Did you have a favorite
color? Mine was periwinkle. How about getting
together now to share that love of color through
painting? In this class, you can begin your creative
journey or continue it. Choose your medium: watercolor or acrylic (suggested for beginners) or oils.
There will be instruction for beginners, some demonstration, lots of sharing and positive feedback. If
you already paint, come to class with a project and
the needed supplies. If you are a beginner, come
with enthusiasm and an open mind. Supplies will
be provided for the first class and a supply list for
subsequent classes. Melanie has been painting for
about 15 years and has studied painting locally.
Bring $10 for materials.

Basically Improv—
An Introduction to
Improvisational Theater
This is for those who are beginning improvisers,
those who have never improvised before, or anyone
looking for a back-to-basics opportunity. Explore
in a low-risk environment, that’s designed to be just
for fun with nobody watching. We will be covering
fundamental skills and basic approaches to improv.
Session topics can include terminology, initiation,
object work, and character development. Scott has
been performing comedy for nine years, four of
which have been primarily improv.

Fight Club Provocation
Despite the popularity of “Fight Club,”
and particularly the character Tyler Durden, the story has inspired very little critical discussion. Much
lies beneath the quotable quotes and memorable
scenes thus far consigned to mass consumption. We
will unearth and critique “Fight Club’s” various,
intertwining provocations (e.g., hunter-gatherer life,
anti-consumerism, “masculinity,” schizophrenic
political activity) and learn about ourselves in the
process. Familiarity with both the novel and film is
highly encouraged.
