Like all FlexIDS solutions, FlexIDS ATIS can operate as a stand-alone product or as a fully integrated
component of FlexIDS, the premier air traffic management system. This complete and seamless
integration of ATC displays reduces cost by eliminating the need for stand-alone ATIS hardware
and allows controllers to work more efficiently without constantly switching between
applications.

TruVoice
AWI's FlexIDS ATIS allows for flexible configuration of a real human voice through the introduction of TruVoice technology.
Recorded Vs. Synthesized - Most ATIS voice products use
a computer synthesized voice for broadcast, making it difficult to
understand some words and phrases when listening over a radio.
These systems also fall short when a required word has a
complex pronunciation. TruVoice by AWI uses a recorded human
voice to provide clear broadcasts with proper diction. TruVoice
also offers alternate pronunciations and adjustable pacing.
Phrase Builder- Add new recordings
to the voice library through ATIS Phrase
Builder. Recordings can be made for any
language supported by the system and
will automatically be equalized to a
consistent volume to ensure a high
quality broadcast. AWI offers professional
voice services, allowing a new voice file to
be exported to AWI for professional
processing, guaranteeing that your
broadcasts remain clear and accurate.
Multi-Language Support - AWI’s ATIS technology supports
the use of multiple languages. Although English is the default
language for ATIS broadcast, additional languages can be
handled in one of two ways:
Alternating languages on a single channel
Multiple channels, each dedicated to one language
Vocabulary Manager - AWI’s TruVoice uses phrasing templates to build error-proof
ATIS messages. Both predefined and custom templates are available. Use the template
builder to add, remove, and reorder words and phrases, or build new ones.
The TruVoice vocabulary manager offers three exciting new features:
Import new vocabulary packages
Add, remove, or group custom vocabulary
Export new vocabulary to create custom voice packages.
Newly created words or phrases are immediately available to all users. A fail-safe exists
which blocks words from being deleted if they are in use. This ensures that existing
messages are not fragmented.
User Interface
FlexIDS ATIS displays when the last ATIS recording occurred and when the next is due. When a new ATIS message is required, the
system alerts the user, requiring them to change the ATIS code, and allowing the update of information such as approach and active
runway. Navigation and management of ATIS is accomplished through a simple graphical user interface. From this interface, a user can
perform nearly any operational function.
The Terminal Information section of the ATIS window allows
users to build, customize, and maintain ATIS messages. The
window is automatically populated with the required minimum
ATIS verbiage, such as the ATIS information code and weather
report. This minimum ATIS verbiage cannot be modified or deleted
by the user.
Additional phrases can be added, removed, and reordered using
mouse clicks or a drag-and-drop technique. The system’s phrasing
templates ensure that all ATIS messages are complete before they
can be previewed or broadcast.
