2009
HRE again surprises the industry with its Carbon Series. Using
full carbon rim barrels and mating them to high strength
forged aluminum centers, creating the ultimate lightweight
performance wheels.
2005
HRE introduces one of the lightest aluminum modular
wheels in its history; the Competition Series. This
series is a result of a decades-long commitment to
performance and engineering.
1978-1980
HRE Wheels introduce modular
wheels that are track specific
designs for Formula Ford, Mazda
Pro Series, Bosch Super Vee and
Formula Atlantic Racers.
2006
HRE introduces Monoblok one-piece forged
series with over 10 styles and applications
for sport, luxury and exotics. The HRE P40
Monoblok begins its journey as one of the
most iconic aftermarket wheels in history.
Since 1978, HRE has consistently been at the forefront of
the industry; creating trend-setting products and defining
benchmarks for quality and service to become the leader in
custom forged wheels, not just for a few years, but for decades.
2010
HRE-sponsored Fall Line Motorsports
wins Grand Am Championship with
special R43 wheels.
2008
HRE’s manufacturing facility in San Diego receives
German TÜV certification of its Quality Management
System. TÜV is the strictest and most difficult
verification standard in the wheel industry.
1985
HRE begins using forged centers. Focusing on
achieving high strength and low unsprung mass for its
modular wheels.
1978 HRE starts life selling motorsport components to racers and
enthusiasts
2009
Gumpert commissions HRE to design and
manufacture their OE wheel for the Apollo
supercar. The Apollo S would go on to break
the production car lap record at Germany’s
famous Nurburgring circuit.
2010
HRE-sponsored Monster Energy/Falken
Tire Ford Mustang wins Formula Drift
Championship running on
Competition C90 wheels.
1980s HRE Wheels starts manufacturing some of the first 3-piece
wheels made in the USA
1990s HRE begins the popularization of 3-piece forged wheels for the
street with the introduction of the iconic 540 Series
1991-1994
HRE designs wheels for supercars such as the Vector and supports OE development
efforts. During this time HRE aligns itself with world-class tire companies.
2000-2005 HRE bucks the trend of “bling” and creates several industryleading products like the ultra-lightweight Competition Series and the
elegant 940R Series for luxury cars and SUVs and soon becomes the
leading 3-piece wheel company in the U.S.
1983
HRE becomes the first wheel company in the United States to
successfully spin-form 3-piece rims. Eventually HRE introduces a new
line of race-bred street wheels.
2006 Going against industry norms again, HRE invests heavily in the
creation of the now iconic P40 Monoblok Series and quickly becomes
the new market leader in 1-piece forged wheels.
1981
HRE offers complete high-performance solutions
for race teams. These packages include: wheels,
suspensions and race set-ups. HRE brings wheels
manufacturing in-house.
2009 HRE creates the ultra-exclusive Carbon Series utilizing full carbon
rim barrels for the ultimate in lightweight performance.

HRE enters ALMS on the West Racing
Lamborghini Gallardo featuring an all-new
race spec Monoblok wheel.
2003-2004
HRE is selected as the OE wheel supplier for Saleen S7 supercars.
HRE introduces the 940R Series designed for SUVs and luxury
sedans; being the first to offer clean, elegant

American Tuning companies commission HRE to design, develop

come to define the brand. HRE is proud to sponsor several
teams this 2012 season including entries in Grand-Am, NASA,

2011 ALMS season for West Racing’s Lamborghini Gallardo.
FORMULA DRIFT Falken Tire’s Championship-Winning team of 3 cars all
race on HRE Wheels.
GLOBAL RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP Rhys Millen Racing will be
battling for the championship with two Hyundai Velosters running
modified HRE R43 wheels.
AMERICAN IRON CHAMPIONSHIP Chris Cobetto Racing brought home
the 2011 Regional American Iron Championship on HRE R40 wheels.
TEXAS MILE Underground Racing is always out to break records at the
Texas Mile with its twin turbo Gallardo eclipsing the 250mph mark.

on your vehicle, HRE will determine the best
profile to maximize your style preference
taking into account the vehicle’s brakes,
offset and body modifications.
Lip Dimension is a personal preference;
choose a wheel style and lip dimension to fit
your style needs.
*Offset refers to the dimension from the
mounting surface to the centerline of the
wheel width
With a maximum conical wheel profile, lip
dimension will be decreased.
For maximum lip, you may need to opt for a

HRE’s 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility is TÜV approved; a
prerequisite to sell wheels legally in Germany, Austria and some other
European countries.
All HRE wheels are engineered to meet or exceed German TÜV and

Why It’s Important
And How We Achieve It
At HRE, we understand the importance of engineering lightweight
wheels. Achieving low unsprung mass and low rotational inertia is
essential to maintaining and enhancing the performance of your
vehicle. Anyone can make a lightweight wheel by simply pulling
out mass. The real challenge is to create a wheel that is lightweight
AND strong. Ensuring long fatigue life, high stiffness and robust impact
resistance is key to the creation of wheels that perform while being
extremely safe. At HRE we fully understand the science behind this
balancing act and without this attention to detail it simply wouldn’t
be an HRE.
Examples Used by HRE to Create Lightweight Wheels:
Spoke Side Cuts Using I-Beam spoke geometry we remove “inefficient”
material while maximizing strength and stiffness under high lateral
g-forces.

to maximize strength/weight ratios long before we cut a first prototype
or send for structural testing.

additional half-pound out of an already lightweight wheel; further

the business; creating the truest and toughest barrels money can buy.

Extra strong Italian lug bolts are standard on HRE wheels, preventing
bolt stretch and potential wheel separation under the severest forms
of driving.

Custom-designed, lightweight Titanium assembly fasteners for our
C90 and CL90 Competition Series are sourced from Germany to
ensure unquestioned quality.

We teamed up with acclaimed racing fastener manufacturer,
Automotive Racing Products, to design and manufacture our
high-strength stainless steel assembly bolts, standard on our 3-piece
wheels.

Industrial-strength powder coat is applied in-house at HRE to create a
beautiful yet resilient finish able to stand up to the harshest conditions.
