The City of Auburn is pleased to host this important event August 26 - 28, 2011. On behalf of the citizens of Auburn, we are especially proud to welcome each of you to the Auburn Softball Complex. This facility has been the site of a number of regional and national tournaments. Our staff is accustomed to hosting events in a firstclass manner. Auburn is a wonderful university community and I hope you will have some time to enjoy our hospitality during your visit. The Auburn Softball Complex staff strives to ensure that visitors enjoy the finest championship playing facilities. A strong emphasis is placed on expert organization and genuine Southern hospitality. The Complex has been recognized as one of the premier complexes in the nation by USA Softball Magazine and has been awarded the 1999, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2010 Alabama ASA Complex of the Year Award. Since its opening in 1993, the Complex has hosted more than 19 ASA National Championships. The Complex was also the home of the 1997 and 1998 Auburn University Women's Fast Pitch team and hosted a number of SEC games. The Complex boasts a three story control building that is surrounded by five fields that feature Bermuda grass outfields, 300 ft. fences, skinned infields and Hollywood bases. In addition, each field is equipped with a warning track, championship lighting and a public address system. All dugouts are covered and feature phones to the press box. The control building is complete with spacious clean restrooms and full concessions on the ground floor. The second floor contains complex offices, a conference room, and a rest area for umpires. The third floor contains scorekeeper booths and press box capabilities. Families and fans visiting the Auburn Softball Complex can take advantage of our many picnic areas. Children also have the opportunity to enjoy our fun playground, which is located next to the control building. Bleachers with a seating capacity of over 200 are found adjacent to each field. Whether you find yourself at the Auburn Softball Complex to play or watch a great game, you will be impressed with the facilities found only in the city known as “the Loveliest Village on the Plains.” 2011 ASA Men’s Masters 40-Over August 26 - 28, 2011 • Auburn, Alabama SCHEDULE OF EVENTS A. PRE-TOURNAMENT MANAGER CHECK-IN: Auburn Softball Complex – 2nd floor of Control Building (located off I-85 at Exit 51, behind the Hampton Inn) Thursday, Aug. 25, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 26, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. B: TOURNAMENT MANAGER’S BREAKFAST/DRAW: The Breakfast will be on Friday, Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. at the Lexington Hotel & University Convention Center. Opening Ceremonies updates, tournament draw and rules will be discussed at this mandatory meeting for managers and umpires. If more than two managers are going to attend, please inform tournament staff in advance. Individual awards will be given to the champion and runner-up teams and 1st and 2nd team All American. Travel fund to top four teams. FORMAT: The tournament will follow a three game guarantee format. UNIFORMS: All Players must compete in accordance with Rule 3, Section 6. Uniform of the 2011 ASA Official Rules of Softball. LINE-UPS: Line-up cards will be provided for each team. An official line-up must be submitted to the scorer’s table, located behind Field 5, at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. GAME TIMES: Please follow the times listed on the tournament bracket. Game time is forfeit time. Teams should be prepared to start a game once the preceding game is completed. No time limit on any games. INFIELD PRACTICE: No infield practice will be permitted. Warm-up is allowed in designated areas only. Teams may warm-up in the outfield if time permits. BENCH AREA: Only players and coaches are allowed in the dugouts. No Children. PROTESTS: The tournament committee will decide all protests. As manager, please be familiar with rules of the game, including proper protest procedures. See Rule 9, Protests of the 2011 ASA Official Rules of Softball. RUN RULE: Refer to Rule 5, The Game, Section9, Run Ahead Rule of the 2011 ASA Official Rules of Softball. RAIN DELAY: In the event of rain or any cause, which interrupts a game, the game must be resumed at the exact point where it stopped. It is the team manager’s responsibility to check with tournament staff as to when games will resume or be rescheduled. Coaches should give a cell number to tournament staff at check in. HOME TEAM: The home team will be determined by a coin toss 30 minutes before game time. Coaches need to meet at the scorer’s table for the coin toss. TEAM SEATING: The home team will sit in the first base dugout. The visiting team will sit in the third base dugout. OFFICIAL GAME BALL: Game balls will be provided by Worth Sports, Inc. GAME RULES: All rules and regulations for the tournament will be governed by the 2011 ASA Official Guide and Rule Book. CONDUCT: Managers and coaches are asked to have complete control of their players on and off the field. Any report of hotel damage shall subject the team to suspension or other appropriate action. ELIGIBILITY: Please see the 2011 ASA Guide for clarifications and interpretations. PLAYER PASSES: All players on the roster and 3 managers will receive passes. All participants must have a pass to gain entrance to the softball complex. Participants without player passes will be required to pay daily admission. Passes will be distributed at the team check-in. SOUVENIRS: Souvenirs will be available throughout the tournament. There will be a variety of tournament souvenirs available for purchase. ADMISSION: Daily gate admission will be charged as follows: Adults: $6/daily or $15/Tournament Pass Students: $4/daily or $9/Tournament Pass Children under 7 admitted free ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES/PETS: No alcoholic beverages may be brought into the complex. From Birmingham, AL (via Interstate) Auburn, Alabama is located 143 miles southeast of Birmingham. By automobile the trip will take approximately 2 hours. Take I-65 South out of Birmingham and travel approximately 88 miles and exit the interstate onto I-85 North in Montgomery which is exit 72. Then take I-85 North out of Montgomery and travel 55 miles and exit the interstate at exit 51. Turn left off the exit and follow College Street into Auburn. Campus is approximately 3.5 miles into town on the left. From Birmingham, AL (via US 280) Auburn, Alabama is located 115 miles southeast of Birmingham. By automobile the trip will take approximately 2 hours, but may take longer if traffic is heavy. Take Highway US 280 East out of Birmingham and travel approximately 110 miles and exit on Alabama Highway 147. There is a yellow blinking light at the exit. Turn right on Highway 147 and travel down this road (College Street) five miles to downtown Auburn and the Auburn University Campus. From Columbus, GA Auburn, Alabama is located 40 miles west of Columbus. By automobile the trip will take approximately 45 minutes. Take Highway 280 West out of Columbus and travel approximately 30 miles and exit the highway onto I-85 South at exit 62. Then take I-85 South eleven miles and exit the interstate at exit 51. Turn right off the exit and follow College Street into Auburn. Campus is approximately 3.5 miles into town on the left. From Montgomery, AL Auburn, Alabama is located 55 miles northeast of Montgomery. By automobile the trip will take approximately 1 hour.
