ATLAS FR SHIFTING CHAINGUIDE
TOOLS REQUIRED: • 4, 5, & 6mm Hex Key
• External BB Cup Spline Tool
• Crank removal tools
• 8mm long handle allen key for RF X-Type cranks
• check with crank manufacturer for tools required to remove non RF X-Type crank
COMPATIBILITY:
The Atlas FR Chain-Guide will fit frames equipped with or without ISCG mounting tabs. It is designed to be used with an external
BB or drive side flanged BB cup with English threads only.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove the right hand (drive side) crank arm (use an 8mm long handle Hex key or crank puller for RF cranks or consult the
manufacturer of non RF cranks for specific removal instructions).
2. Remove the right hand (drive side) bottom bracket (BB) Cup
3. Install the Atlas FR shifting chain guide boomerang directly behind the drive side BB Cup in place of one standard 2.5mm BB
cup spacer, see figures 3 & 4 for configuration details.
5. Tighten down the drive side BB cup to clamp the boomerang in place.
6. Reinstall the crank.
*Spacing guidelines are shown in figures 3 & 4 for RF X-type cranks. You may need to remove your left hand crank to access
the 1 mm spacers depending on your install setup. Check that there is no interference of chain ring bolts when rotating your
crank. 1mm chain line adjustment spacers can be swapped from drive side to non-drive sides and vice versa to fine tune
your spacing.
7. Adjust the position of the lower boomerang arm utilizing the M6 bolts from behind the crank or the M5 bolts from the front
side of the crank if they are exposed, see figure 6. Ensure that the chain is being wrapped up and around the pulley wheel
while in the mid ring.

8. Adjust the position of the pulley wheel using an M4 hex key so that the outer flange has a 0.5-2mm gap between it and
the bash guard as shown in figure 7.
9. Adjust the position of the upper guide plastic piece using a M5 hex key to ensure there is a 0.5-1.5mm gap between the
inside edge and the bash guard as shown in figure 7.

4. Orient the boomerang to a position where the upper guide plastic part is in the 1-2 o’clock position with a minimum gap of
5mm from the front derailleur. If you have ISCG tabs on your frame align one of the boomerang anti-rotation holes with one of your
ISCG tabs. Then install either the low (73/100mm BB) or high head (68/83mm BB) anti-rotation bolt, see figure 6.
0.5-2.0mm gap
MAINTENANCE:
1. Periodically clean the pulley wheel as dirt and mud can accumulate and affect performance. You can use a lubricant on
the pulley wheel bushing to help keep it rotating smoothly.
2. Inspect plastic parts for wear and replace if necessary.
