We want you to enjoy and celebrate the unique range of products the Brecks has to offer. Included in this leaflet are places to buy and eat locally farmed and harvested crops, varying from asparagus to apples and blueberries, as well as fine organic meat, fish, poultry and cheese. There are also locally produced apple juices, wines and ales. The Brecks has also inspired many award winning artists to create a variety of arts and crafts from a selection of materials ranging from ceramics to wood sculpture. Arts and crafts are a part of our natural resources, as they interpret the landscape and environment whilst also utilising the natural materials available. Buying locally boosts the economy of businesses and communities; the produce travels less thus reducing pollution; meaning the product is fresher for you, and you can often speak to the producer directly which ensures you get a better service. We hope you will share in our enthusiasm for the Brecks and delight in its distinctiveness through buying local products. To enjoy the best of Brecks produce you can contact a producer from the list or visit one of the websites listed in this booklet for further information. Details of seasonal produce and how buying local produce can benefit you and the community can be found online at www.brecks.org and www.keystonetrust.org.uk Eleven tourism businesses in the Brecks have achieved the Green Tourism Business Scheme Award (ranging from Gold to Bronze), they have been assessed on their environmentally sustainable practices, an element of which is their use local of produce.
