The SYS light will begin flashing slowly this is normal. 4 (Optional) Check your home wifi router admin webpage has the wireless security mode set to WPA2-PSK AES. WPA2 with AES is supported and recommended as the best wireless security. On your wifi router one of the following wireless settings work best: • WPA2-PSK AES (best and works good every time) • WPA2-PSK TKIP+AES (ok and works good) • WEP (not the best option, may have limited success) © 2013 Limitless Designs You must know your Wifi Password. Perhaps reconnect your phone to your WiFi to satisfy yourself that you correctly know the wifi pw. 5 Using, iPhone or Android download and install the latest “LimitlessLED” app from the AppStore. If using an iPad to install, then select the iPhone tab in the Appstore to find the LimitlessLED app. Direct App Store Download Links: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/limitlessled/id594759938?mt=8 https://itunes.apple.com/app/home-remote-home-automation/id926193671?mt=8 Google Play Store Download Links: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lierda.wifi 6 (Info) The wifi bridge initial settings always start off in AP mode. You will connect the wifi bridge to your home wireless network using STA mode in the following steps. 7 Connect to the WiFi Bridge Access Point using your smartphone. AP - Adhoc mode, Direct Access Point Mode. Connect your smartphone directly to the milight SSID. (operates as a WiFi access point for setup or direct control) STA - Station mode, Local Area Network (LAN) WiFi Router Mode. Your smartphone can set to STA mode via the LimitlessLED app (operates as a client that connects to a WiFi access point) • On your phone go to Settings -> Wi-Fi. • Choose the network called “milight”. • Check that the WiFi is on and green. • Check that the Blue tick is next to the network “milight” to show the phone is connected. • Check that the link light has come on the Wifi Bridge. The red “link” light on the wifi bridge will illuminate when your smartphone is connected directly to the wifi bridge via AP (Access Point) mode, or the link light will also come on if the wifi bridge is successfully linked to your home router using STA (Home Wireless LAN mode) although a solid link light does not mean that you have entered your wireless network password correctly though. So make sure you get the wireless network password correct in the following steps. Start again from Step 2 (factory reset) if you think you entered your wifi password incorrectly during Step 10. © 2013 Limitless Designs 8 The device list shows a blue Wifi icon next to all wifi bridges that are broadcasting on the network. Select your device that has a blue icon. 9 Click on the Configuration button on the lower right. 10 Click on the Wifi Setting button to issue the WSCAN command to the wifi bridge. The wifi bridge will start scanning for your home wifi router. © 2013 Limitless Designs 11 Select the wireless router you use in your home. 12 Enter your wifi password exactly as you would if you were joining another phone or laptop to your home wireless wifi network. © 2013 Limitless Designs 13 Click Ok. This will issue the soft RESTART command to the wifi bridge. Your phone should now loose connection to the milight wifi and should automatically fall back to your home wifi router connection automatically. Re-join the phone to your home wifi network in the settings->wifi if you have no wireless connectivity. 14 After a short while, your phone and wifi bridge should now be connected directly to your home wireless wifi router. And you will be able to see your wifi bridge device broadcast on your network, indicated by the Blue wireless icon. Click on your device. 15 Click the Monitor icon down on the bottom left. © 2013 Limitless Designs 16 Click on the Monitor remote that relates to your LED bulb type. Each Wifi Bridge can control up to 4 RGBW Groups of Bulbs, 4 Dual White Groups of Bulbs, and 1 Group of RGB Bulb. You can install more than one wifi bridge in a house, and you can name each wifi bridge separately, i.e. Upstairs Bridge, Downstairs Bridge. This will give you control of double the number of groups. Sync the appropriate button in the smart-phone app to the specific group of LimitlessLED lightbulb/s. See the Chapter below on how to sync the Remote and/or App to the LimitlessLED bulbs Top 3 most asked Questions: Answer: How do I make the RGBW LED Bulb change back to warm white. Press-and-Hold the On button for longer, this will change the LED bulb back to warm white. The handheld Remote was working now it is not. The touch remote is calibrated in the first 3 seconds of putting the batteries in, be sure not to have your hand on the touch remote when you inserted the batteries. Try and remove the batteries and carefully insert them as to not touch the panel. OR Are you still running some apps via the wifi bridge such as the candleApp, perhaps a UDP flood is stopping your commands reaching the LED, disconnect the wifi bridge usb power to temporarily check this. The bulb will not sync with remote. Try and clear/un-sync the bulb firstly. See 3.3.5 below. Unsyncing the bulb didn‟t work when I pressed the button 5 times. When un-syncing, Long Hold the button down instead of pressing 5 times repeatedly. Also try the bulb in a lamp socket on its own. © 2013 Limitless Designs Syncing the RF Remote, or App via wifi bridge, to the LED bulbs 3.2 LED Bulb Installation • Take the led bulb out of the packaging, holding it only by the acrylic lens. • Switch off the power at the wall or lamp switch before installation. • Replace the original light bulb with the new Limitless Wireless Smart LED Bulb. • Switch on the power, the led bulb will light under normal circumstances. • Sync a remote to the bulb as per 3.3 below and set to full brightness and colour. • If the bulb does not sync, then firstly clear the previous channel as per 3.3.5. 3.3 Quick Remote Control and LED Bulb Synchronisation Each bulb must first be securely synchronized to the remote, also known as code pairing. Each remote can control up to 4 groups of bulbs and each group can contain up to 100+ Bulbs. Each bulb can be controlled by up to 4 remotes. Please ensure that the remote batteries and bulb are installed. The touch remote is calibrated in the first 3 seconds of putting the batteries in, be sure not to have your hand on the touch remote when you inserted the batteries. Bulb and Group synchronisation can only be done in the first 2 seconds of turning the light bulb wall switch on. Please choose the smart lights that you want to sync the remote with, then switch off the power, after the light has gone out, switch on the power again, and within 2 seconds please press the “Channel On” key on the upper side The lamp will blink 3 times to confirm it is securely synced. Please repeat the above steps to program more lamps with the remote as needed. Each bulb can belong to one channel per remote and 100+ bulbs on each channel. Each bulb can belong to up to 4 remotes; a different channel on each of the 4 remotes is possible. When a bulb is synchronized to a 5th remote the 1st remote synchronisation is erased. © 2013 Limitless Designs 3.3.5 Clear/Reset the LimitlessLED Bulb Occasionally you may wish to swap the LED bulb from one channel to another on the same remote, or the Bulb has stopped responding to a remote. The best way to do this, is to clear/reset the bulb, that way all remotes will no longer be synchronized to this bulb. This will then allow you to re-synchronize each remote to the bulb again, and allows you to select a new channel on each remote or wifi bridge (via app). • Switch off the power to the socket of the bulb/s that you are going to clear/reset. • Switch the wall switch back on, and within 2 seconds, quickly press 5 times (or long press and hold), the “All On” button or “Channel On” button • The LED bulb will blink 6 times to confirm that it has now cleared/reset. Tips and Tricks Symptom: No Solid Link light on the Wifi Bridge yet. Nearly all of these issues are solved by adjusting settings in your wireless router… Tip#1. Ensure your router is set to WPA2-Personal, not WPA/WPA2, not WPA2-Mixed, and not WPA2Enterprise. And try again from Step1. Security modes: WPA2/WPA Mixed mode, WPA2 Personal, WPA Personal, WPA2/WPA Enterprise Mixed mode, WPA2 Enterprise, WPA Enterprise, WEP, RADIUS, Disabled You should use normal “WPA2 Personal” wireless security mode which uses AES. Not “WPA2/WPA mixed” mode, because it only allows for TKIP as a cipher. Not “WPA2 Enterprise” mode, because it requires a RADIUS server for authentication which makes the whole thing way too complicated for a home setup. Final recommendation: WPA2 Personal (AES cypher) Tip#2. Ensure your wireless router is set to allow “wireless b/g” or “wireless b/g/n”. And try again. It has been known for a couple of routers to not work with “g” only set. Tip#3. Ensure your router’s wireless settings under encryption, is set to “AES” only, do not set it to the item that has both tkip and aes in the name, i.e. do not use the setting called “TKIP or AES” Symptom: The Solid Link light on the Wifi Bridge but does not control the lights. Tip#4. Ensure you are using the “LimitlessLED” v1.7 app. Do not use limitlessled v1.0 app, and do not use the wifi controller app, nor wifi controller 2 app, those are the old apps, they will be removed and/or upgraded later this year. Tip#5. Does the LED light bulb light up when you first plug it in and turn the light switch on? If not then try another socket or a neighbour’s light socket. Some socket contact springs can be worn over time and not reach the light bulb’s base contacts. © 2013 Limitless Designs Tip#6. To CLEAR/reset the bulb. When turning on the power/wall-switch Press and HOLD S+ (for rgb led bulbs) or Press and Hold Channel-On (for white led bulbs) note. RGB bulbs will reset to RED being the default color. Tip#7. If you are having difficulty getting the bulb synced, and you have confirmed the wifi bridge is on your network. Then just remove the bulb from the socket in case your wires have some residual power (if your wires in the house have some loops, it can store small electrical energy in your house wires), it doesn’t take much power to run these super efficient LED circuits.. just 0.4W. And then turn the switch on before inserting the bulb, insert the bulb. and then press S+ quickly (just press it once for rgb bulbs) any Channel-On button (just press it once for white bulbs) . Tip#8. You could have interference if you have more than one bulb in the same light fitting when trying to sync the app or remote to the bulb. Remove all other bulbs from the same fitting or light circuit except for the one you are trying to sync. Tip#9. The bulb should turn on even without the remote or app, so when you first place the bulb into the fitting and the wall switch is powered on, you should see the LED light up. If it doesn’t then perhaps your light fitting is faulty. Try another light fitting or another house with better contact points. We also had some feedback/tips from users: Tip#10. I had to use the LimitlessLED v1.7 app to connect the bridge to my LAN, then it worked, thanks. Tip#11. I had to use the correct remote screen in the app for my particular RGBW LEDs to sync, thanks. Tip#12. I had to clear remote code pairing using section 3.3.5 of the manual, and then the app and wifi bridge worked. Thx Tip#13. “I figured it out. I was using a fixture that held multiple bulbs. Apparently there is interference when you try to pair two bulbs at the same time. A fixture with a single bulb worked.” Tip#14. It worked after I changed my wifi router to the standard wifi secure settings WPA2/PSK AES. Tip#15. I was able to connect the bridge to my network after I set the SSID to visible. Tip#16. I placed the wifi bridge closer to the wifi router. Tip#17. After trying another usb power supply to the wifi bridge it worked. Tip#18. Might be some sneaky power leaking on to your socket with the switch even off. So remove the bulb from the socket, turn the switch on at the wall. Plug the bulb to the socket, and within 2 seconds press the group1 on button on the remote. Dual white remote for dual white bulbs, RGBW remote for rgbw bulbs. Now for the App, you must sync it again separately, because the wifi bridge acts just like its own remote. © 2013 Limitless Designs
